Anne Frank
Anne Frank lived with her family in a pleasant house. For Anne and her sister, Margot, their early childhood was a sucure place inhabited by loving parents, relatives and nurses.
However, the Nazis had gained power in some parts of Germany. The Nazis wanted all Jews to be killed. Otto Frank, Anne's father, did not hestitate to wait for the Nazis to come into full power. In 1933, the Franks left Frankfort. Mrs. Frank and the two girls joined her mother in Aachen, near the Belgian border. Otto Frank went to Holland and started a business in food products. In the spring of 1934, the Franks reunited and settled in Amsterdam.
Anne Frank lived in Amsterdam happily, like she did in Frankfort. She attended Montessori School and had a host of friends. Her father, however, was still worried for in Germany the Nazis gained almost complete power. In 1940, the Germans envaded and conquered Holland.
Anne's life had changed by the Germans taking control. She could not go to her school, and was to attend the Jewish Lyceum. No Jews were allowed out on the streets at night.
In 1941, the Germans had their first round-up of Jews in Amsterdam. 5 months later, the Germans summonded 16-year-old Margot Frank to report for deportation. Otto Frank, however, had contact with Dutch friends, and were able to hide out in the attic of a house. The morning after Margot was summonded they left Amsterdam and went to the attic of the house called the Secret Annexe.
In the Secret Annexe they were joined by the Van Daan family. There was Mr. and Mrs. Van Daan and their son Peter. Later, a eldery dentist, Alburt Dussel, was invited to share their refuge. The 8 Jews hid in the Secert Annexe for many years. Otto Frank's Dutch friends, brought them food and even gifts. The news in the fall of 1942 was terrifying for the Franks. The roundup of Jews from Holland was proceeding according to plan. While the Franks were in hiding, Germany was at the height of conquest.
But of August 4, 1944, the Gestapo penetrated into the Frnak's hiding place. The 8 Jews, together were taken to Gestapo headquaters in Amsterdam. The Franks, Van Daans, and Mr. Dussel were sent to Westbork.
Anne Frank, Diary of a Young Girl was actually the diary of Anne Frank. Anne Frank was a girl who lived with her family during the time of while the Nazis took power.
Anne Frank was born in 1929 just at the beginning of turmoil in German society. At the beginning of her life, Frank’s family was a relatively normal German-Jewish family living just outside of Frankfurt. Her father, Otto Frank, was a business owner and her sister, Margot Frank, was three years older than her. They moved to Amsterdam, Netherlands in 1933 because of the threat to their lives because of their Jewish Heritage.
...ble for publishing the diary and sharing his daughter's views(www.ushmm.org). Frank helped bring his daughter's story to become one of the most popular books in the world, along with opening the Anne Frank House. Otto Frank goes off to marry Elfriede(Fritzi) Markovits in 1953 and lives the remainder of his life with her in Switzerland. Frank took his last breath on August nineteenth, 1980 in Basel, Switzerland(www.biography.com). Otto Frank dealt with many hardships, but fought to overcame them, and ended up surviving the holocaust. The toll of losing his family impacted him greatly, his strength breaking when mentioning the horrors of the holocaust. In an interview before his death, Frank explains "I can no longer talk about how I felt when my family arrived on the train platform in Auschwitz and we were forcibly separated from each other."(www.annefrankguide.net).
of the hiding of Jews such as the Frank family, the Van Daan family, and Dr.
The horrible conditions made it a horrible place to live but Anne still lingers on just a little bit until her fate. During her life living in the horrible conditions she still helps her family like Margot “Night time in the barrack, Margot is lying down coughing and Anne is sitting up, holding Margot Margot: Do you remember how… how I was always taking care of you when you were little? Anne: It’s my turn to take care of you now. Margot: It doesn’t matter anymore. Anne: No, you can’t leave me here. Margot: Tell me a story, Anne. I use to… I used to love your stories. Anne: Pim’s stories were always much better than mine. Poor Pim. Margot: Well, you’re still going to be a writer there, aren’t you? And he’d like that (Anne Frank the Whole Story 61). During her life in the concentration camps her sister Margot becomes very ill, Anne tries to stay calm and tried to take care of her in any way possible due to her health. Anne proves that no matter what holds her back she still remains helpful and protect her family in any means necessary. Even though living conditions in the concentration camps was poor Anne still had some hope and remained calm and helpful towards her family and

Anne and Moarogt got transfored to a concentration camp in Northern Germany, called Bergen-Belsen. At Bergen-Belsen, both Anne and Margot died of a bacterial disease spread by fleas or lice. Otto Frank, Anne's father, was the only one who survived, dying at 91 years old of natural causes.
They had to sacrifice their place to many others -sometimes strangers, their food, and their privacy. At some point all the people in the family dreaded that they allowed so many people into the annex with them, and it caused conflict between the families as well as among family members. An example was when Mrs. Frank lost her temper on Mr. Van Daan and said things like “ I’ve watched you day after day and held my tongue. But not any longer! Not after this! Now I want you them to go! I want him to get out of here!” (620) That is a prime example of how people change when they are locked in the same room, because before the Franks went into hiding, Mrs. Frank would have never snapped on somebody the way that she did. During this time in history, Hitler had all of the Jewish people taken to concentration camps and did unimaginable horrible things to them, so that’s why all the Jews were either taken to the camps, fled to other countries, or went into hiding like the Frank family did. Just being the race that they were took courage alone. Anne and the rest of the family had to have courage and be brave because they wouldn’t have survived through the war if they were cowardly and fearful about where their next meal was coming from or if they were going to be caught in hiding. The Franks also had to give each other courage and keep positive thoughts, even if they did not

National Institute on Drug Abuse. "Anabolic Steroids: A Threat to Body and Mind." NIDA: Research Paper Series 1991: 1-9. SIRS "Drugs", vol. 5, article 21.
Steroid is a name given to drugs that are manufactured from testosterone, a reproductive hormone found in men. Some athletes normally use anabolic steroids because these drugs improve one’s capacity to compete and train, yielding high results. Steroids work by reducing exhaustion during training, and also reduce the length of time an athlete needs to recover from exhaustion. In addition, steroids enable the growth of tissues and muscles in an athlete’s body by instructing the body to produce extra proteins. During the 1936 Olympics held in Berlin, the first rumors of athletes using steroids emerged. The problem of athletes using steroids was again reported in 1954 during weight lifting championships. The Soviet athletes recorded a very impressive performance at all levels of weight lifting. Later on, the team’s physician admitted that the Soviet athletes were being injected with testosterone in order to increase their muscle mass and strength after being questioned about how they achieved their success. WHO (World Health Organization) in 1968 was the first party to complain about incidents of athletes using steroids, these sentiments were later backed by IOC (International Olympic Committee). This paper is going to give reasons why professional athletes should not be allowed to use steroids (Yesalis 25).
Anabolic Steroids or simply put, “Steroids”, is a medicine which has become increasingly popular in the last few decades, specifically in the world of professional sports and body building. In a literal term, the word anabolic means building of the body muscle and by using anabolic steroids, the potential user becomes stronger, sharper, larger and tougher than he would normally be. The consequences of these steroids could be much bigger to a human body and the usage of such illegal products could put an individual’s body at great risk (Haupt & Rovere, 1983).
With the rise of Hitler, Otto Frank, Anne’s father, moved his family to Amsterdam in order to escape the escalating persecution of Jews. Anne attended Amsterdam's Sixth Montessori School and throughout the 1930s experienced a normal childhood, free of anti-semitism. For her thirteenth birthday, Anne received the diary that would encase her everlasting story. On July 5th, 1942, Anne’s sister, Margot, received a notice to be deported to a work camp, leaving no choice but to go into hiding immediately. The Secret Annex, their place of hiding, was located in Otto’s Amsterdam office....
Annelies Marie Frank was born on June 12, 1929, in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Because of their Jewish faith, Anne Frank and her family fled Nazi Germany for the Netherlands in 1933 to avoid persecution. After Germany invaded the Netherlands in 1942, the family spent two years living in a small hidden room in Amsterdam in order to elude capture by Nazi occupation forces. They were discovered in 1944 and arrested. Anne was sent to a concentration camp, where she died the following year. Her famous diary of the two years she spent in hiding was later found in the room where she and her family had lived. Anne’s father, Otto, had taken the family to Amsterdam, where he had established a small food products business. When Germany invaded The Netherlands in 1940, the Franks once again became subject to escalating anti-Semitic persecution. In 1941 Anne was required to transfer from a public school to a Jewish school. Secretly, Otto Frank prepared a hiding place by sealing off several rooms at the rear of his Amsterdam office building. A swinging bookcase hid the rooms Frank concealed.
On June 12, 1929, at 7:30 AM, a baby girl was born in Frankfort, Germany. No one realized that this infant, who was Jewish, was destined to become one of the worlds most famous victims of World War II. Her name was Anne Frank. Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl, by Anne Frank and B.M. Mooyaart, was actually the real diary of Anne Frank. Anne was a girl who lived with her family during the time while the Nazis took power over Germany. Because they were Jewish, Otto, Edith, Margot, and Anne Frank immigrated to Holland in 1933. Hitler invaded Holland on May 10, 1940, a month before Anne?s eleventh birthday. In July 1942, Anne's family went into hiding in the Prinsengracht building. Anne and her family called it the 'Secret Annex'. Life there was not easy at all. They had to wake up at 6:45 every morning. Nobody could go outside, nor turn on lights at night. Anne mostly spent her time reading books, writing stories, and of course, making daily entries in her diary. She only kept her diary while hiding from the Nazis. This diary told the story of the excitement and horror in this young girl's life during the Holocaust. Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl reveals the life of a young innocent girl who is forced into hiding from the Nazis because of her religion, Judaism. This book is very informing and enlightening. It introduces a time period of discrimination, unfair judgment, and power-crazed individuals, and with this, it shows the effect on the defenseless.
II. Contrary to the light and amusing tone of the first few entries of Anne Frank, her revelation of her family background uncovers sneak-peeks to the Jewish life in the Second World War, including the restrictive laws implemented by the Nazis against the particular group of people. Prior to Anne’s first diary entry, the Franks, namely Otto, Edith, and their children, Anne and Margot, had emigrated to Holland from Germany to escape Hitler’s propaganda of Anti-Semitism. However, soon, they realized that they had not been liberated yet from the claws of discrimination when Anne’s elder sister, Margot, was summoned by the S.S., the elite Nazi guards, for a call-up, implying that she would be sent to a concentration camp.
