Animals are naturally not built for persisting mutually. However, these farm animals embrace each other and endure through troublesome times together. Animal Farm authored by George Orwell, a satire fiction, and is about farm animals that work together, face obstacles, and obtain prominence. Animal Farm faces a rebellious rally, kick out Jones, establish laws, and the pigs cherish their domain. Foremost, at Manor Farm, Old Major, a pig, calls a meeting for all animals to attend to and he shouts, ‘“All men are enemies. All animals are comrades”’ (31). The animals can speak their thoughts in English and understand one another. For example, in the twentieth century, talking animals are just ridiculous. Animals are comrades in …show more content…
The pigs are natural born leaders and they lead the rebellion, with Snowball answering questions, “We have no means of making sugar on this farm… those ribbons that you are so devoted to are the badge of slavery” (37). One must think of themselves in the animal’s shoes. They have to be as pure as possible and not interact with humans. They need to be vigilant and not stray from the tasks at hand. Subsequently, the animals are starving when a cow breaks the storeroom lock and all the animals rush in for a meal when Jones wakes up. The animals fight bravely and force, “A minute late all five of them were in full flight down the cart-track that led to the main road, with the animals pursuing them in triumph” (39). The animals wonder if this is their time to shine. They think about all the good times ahead and fight for all it is worth. They imagine themselves in the human’s shoes as they quiver and run away like babies from a tiger. Lastly, the pigs create a set of rules which read, “Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy. Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend. No animal shall wear clothes. No animal shall sleep in a bed. … No animal shall kill any other animal. All animals are equal” (43). The animals create a set of rules to govern themselves before they fall into chaos and dictatorship. However, some animals reject the ideas secretly. On the …show more content…
All the animals contribute their share and, “In the end they finished the harvest in two days’ less time than it had usually taken Jones and his men. Moreover, it was the biggest harvest the farm had ever seen” (46). The animals work as a team to efficiently work as a team. The animals toil their work because Jones is not there to terrorize them. They imagine their lives easier with a more big haul and no leader. They see a future with food that flows into their mouths for free. Subsequently, the pigs teach the rest of the farm to be literate and it kind of succeeds, “By the autumn almost every animal on the farm was literate in some degree. As for the pigs, they could already read and write perfectly” (49). The animals become more human by the day. They wonder how human’s think and act and reflect on themselves. The pigs are already literate and can both read and write. However, the rest of the farm does not fare the same. Lastly, the milk and apples are the greatest food on the farm and the pigs are stealing it for themselves. However, Squealer announces, ‘“Many of us actually dislike milk and apples. Our sole object in taking these things is to preserve our health… It is for your sake that we drink that milk and eat those apples… Do you know what would happen if we pigs failed our duty? Jones would come back!”’ (52). Squealer imagines what the other animals’
Animal Farm is made up of different animals that are lead by Mr. Jones, who ends up being drunk all the time when going to bed and forgets to close up some of the cages. While Mr. Jones was going to sleep in the bed, the animals on the farm was having their own meeting led by, Major, the pig. In the meeting, they talked about who are their enemies and who are their friends, and who are the comrades. While having all ears on Major, he started to say how “Man” was the cause of their problem because with Man, all animals would be free without having to be slaves for anyone. With this being said, Major and all the other animals were singing a song with excitement when it quickly ended by Mr. Jones, who proceeded to
...ls around to do more work while they lie on their backs and drink because the animals are too stupid to realize that they are being treated unfairly. Because the pigs have advantages when it comes to being smart, they take advantage of the fact that the animals have no idea whats actually going on. Though the pigs rarely do anything, they get more portions of food. Towards the end of the book, the animals see that while they are working very hard for the farm, the pigs are inside drinking and talking with humans. Though they may not realise it, they are not treated equally. The pigs have much power over the animals because they know that the animals can not realise that they are doing all the work. The animals trust that the pigs are telling the truth. Because of this, the pigs take full advantage of it and choose to slack off and take the animals trust for granted.
Squealer, using excellent scare tactics and under Napoleon’s control, acquires the pigs the power to control the decisions made on the farm by giving the animals daunting thoughts of a farm gone array due to their flawed decision-making. He dispels the idea of Snowball’s loyalty to animalism by saying that if the animals would have followed Snowball, Jones would have returned and if the animals do not choose wisely whom to trust, the humans and Snowball will return. By cleverly inducing fear into the animals, the pigs are able to convince them to agree with and support anything they suggest. The pigs in George Orwell’s Animal Farm use specific laws, use unknown vocabulary and excruciating detail, implement scare tactics, and create and manipulate laws to successfully attain the other animal’s trust, acquire certain luxuries unavailable to most animals, and establish themselves as the dictators of a totalitarian-like society. Through using detailed, unknown vocabulary, specific laws, and scare tactics, the pigs acquire the ability to drink alcohol, sleep on beds, eat and drink the milk and apples, destroy Snowball’s credibility, and establish a trust between themselves and the other animals.
The rebellion fails due to the blindness of the animals, accepting each other as equal, but do not notice the pigs adding new rules to suit themselves, ‘no animal shall kill another animal without due cause.’
After the Animal Revolution the pigs take the initiative and place themselves in charge because of their claim of having higher intelligence. Over time this power begins to distort the basis of their revolt by recreating the same social situation they were previously in. “When the pigs takeover they claim that their goal is to preside a farm of equal animals, all working together to support one another, yet power quickly proves too much for a pig.” Though the animals originally took over the farm to increase the animal’s independence as a whole, because of the pig’s superiority they soon take the place of the humans further limiting their independence.
Animal Farm by George Orwell is a novel based on the lives of a society of animals living on the Manor Farm. Although the title of the book suggests the book is merely about animals, the story is a much more in depth analysis of the workings of society in Communist Russia. The animals are used as puppets to illustrate how the communist class system operated and how Russian citizens responded to this. And also how propaganda was used by early Russian leaders such as Stalin, and the effort this type of leadership had on the behavior of the people of Russia.
The novel “Animal Farm” was written by the author name George Orwell. Animal Farm is a novel based upon the lives of a society of animals wanting a better life for themselves living on the Manor Farm. The setting of the book is a farm called “Manor Farm”. The theme of this book is that the animals should make a stand; if they continue doing the same thing they will continue getting the same results. It is better to be free and starving, than to be fed and enslaved.
Mr. Jones was unable to defeat the animals, therefore the animals got a boost of confidence. Now at this point Mollie runs away and Snowball begins his plans for a windmill. When Snowball’s plans are finished, Napoleon’s dog’s start to chase him off the farm. The farm just lost the best leader they could have had. They loose their chance to give input on what direction the farm should go, and Napoleon begings blaming Snowball for all the things that he did not do. Now Napoleon sets the animals to work on Sundays again and acquires Mr. Whymper as the farm’s broker. Napoleon starts to sell some of the farm’s produce. And the pigs start sleeping one hour later, and in beds. Then the windmill gets blown over and Snowball gets the blame. At this point the pigs still continue to abuse the power and stealing from the other animals.
Animal Farm is not only a novel about rebellious animals; it is a study of the corruption of society and humanity in an enclosed environment. The actions of the anthropomorphic animals that now rule Manor Farm represent the human society as a whole. Animal Farm by George Orwell is a novel which contains syntax that exemplifies power and hierarchies and diction that portrays character’s will and intention.
Through use of language, the pigs appeal to the animals basic hopes and desires of a better life and a better future. They make others work extremely hard, while they themselves rest and unfairly reap most of the benefits of the work. For example, “Now comrades,... to the hayfield! Let us make it a point of honor get in the harvest more quickly than Jones and his men do.” Later in chapter three, Squealer is sent to justify the pigs selfishness and to convince the animals that the pigs are working in their favor. He said, “You do not imagine, I hope, that we pigs are doing this in a spirit of selfishness and privilege? Many of us actually dislike milk and apples...Milk and apples contain substances absolutely necessary to the well-being of a pig...the whole management and organization of this farm depend on us.” This how the animals are persuaded to believe almost anything without question.
In the animal farm all the animals got together to start a rebel to build up a perfect society. Finally it comes to a totalitarian night mare in which every human rebellion finally achieved. Orwell’s “Animal Farm” is not a story which presents an imaginary story where animals talk and act as humans. But it is a story which reflects the human society where the rebellions and wars which took place, taking place and in future too will take place starts with the dream of a perfect Utopia and ends in a totalitarianism nightmare.
Animal Farm, a novella by George Orwell, tells the tale of the downtrodden animals of Manor Farm, who after much oppression from their master, take over the farm for themselves. In the beginning it seems like the start of a life of freedom and plenty, but a ruthless and cunning elite emerges and begins to take control of the farm. The animals find themselves ensnared once again as one form of tyranny gradually replaces the other. The novella is a critique of revolutionary Russia and idealism betrayed by power and corruption. Orwell uses allegory between Animal Farm and the Soviet Union to highlight the corruption of socialist ideals in the Soviet Union, the power of language and propaganda, and the dangers of a naive working class.
The animals in the book “Animal Farm” hoped to achieve unity, equality. trust/truth, prosperity, better quality of life, freedom and individuality, in terms of the revolution. This was achieved at the beginning of the revolution, which made it a success, but in the end the revolution was a failure. The farm, in many ways, was very prosperous when the revolution began. The animals were given an education, “the reading and writing classes were however a great success,” which made them feel equal to the humans because they were now learning in the same way the humans did.

It was the glorious speech from Old Major that made the animals want to rebel so badly. Animal Farm, written by George Orwell is an excellent novel that portrays the need for power.
