Animals are being abused and murdered all over the world. Animal cruelty is an extremely relevant and disgraceful problem that happens everyday and we do nothing to prevent it. Everyday more and more people start losing themselves and hunt on animals to “solve” their problems. These people believe that they are the dominance in the world. They believe that they are the most important living creatures on earth, and take leadership in believing that animals are made to serve the people. This myth is unethical and cruel, animals themselves have a heart and feelings. They each have their own dilemma going on and like humans, they are one of the most important factors to exist on earth. Animals are being killed and sometimes even go extinct, simply because every one of them is thought to have a purpose to serve to humans. Its purpose either being for food, amusement, money, and/or for the riches ivory trade brings. There are many different types of ways to do animal cruelty, they include being neglected, industrial animal farming, cultural …show more content…
Because of their failure in 1989 the international ban on ivory was adopted by the UN Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), that allowed for the few elephants remaining to prosper and increase in population. The ivory trade market slumped and for a while the ban was sustained. Later in 1999, CITES had agreed to lead and allow an experimental sale of an accumulated pile of ivory. This bad and unthought decision quickly led to the general sense that the ban had been uplifted and it was no longer held effectively in place. In 2002 a meeting with CITES took place, where they were being blamed for the decision made in 1999 where people were confused and thought that the “experimental” sale had been to set the fundamental rule of the increased demand in the illegal ivory trade entering its
Ascione’s (1993) definition of animal cruelty is defined as “socially unacceptable behavior that intentionally causes unnecessary pain, suffering, or distress to and/or death of an animal” exclusive of socially condoned behavior, such as legal hunting and certain agricultural and veterinary practices. Not all violent individuals have been previously cruel to animals but studies have shown that a great number of them have exhibited this behavior. A great majority of the literature calls for a better understandin...
Animals are used today for many sources of protection, food, clothing, transportation, sports, entertainment, and labor, but millions of these animals die each year from abuse. “Most of the reasons that people give for denying animals rights are: animals do not have souls, god gave humans dominion over the animals, humans are intellectually superior to animals, humans are intellectually superior to animals, animals do not reason, think, or feel pain like humans do, animals are a natural resource to used as humans see fit, and animals kill each other” (Evans). It all started in the nineteenth century, when people began abusing animals by beating them, feeding them poorly, providing them with no shelter or poor shelter, left to die if they were sick or old, or by cruel sports. Most of the organized efforts to improve human treatment of animals all started in England. Around the 1800s, there was signs of rising concern for animal welfare in the United States.
Animal-rights advocates say the rule would make it easier to shut down unscrupulous commercial operations that confine breeding females at length, depriving them of food, water and veterinary care and leaving them outdoors to freeze in the winter and roast in the summer as they give birth to litter after litter of profitable pups- (Chebium). Animals don’t have a voice; people have to be the voice for them. Animals have no way to help themselves because people make them do what people want them to. They cannot talk back to say that they do not like or want to do what people make them do, people have to go off on what is right. Animals are living creatures they need food, water, and to be taken care of or they could die. People take advantage of animals because people look at them and think since they are not human their lives are not important. When we think they are not worth anything people start neglecting animals.
Animal cruelty can be either deliberate abuse or simply the failure to take care of an animal. Either way, and whether the animal is a pet, a farm animal, or wildlife, the victim can suffer terribly. Don’t despair, though anyone can take steps against cruelty. Animal Cruelty is a problem world wide, helpless animals suffer everyday. There are many different types of animal cruelty. Animals have been torched for many years in places you would not expect. People will neglect animals by beating them until they can no longer move. Some animals are caged for breeding purposes for their entire lives. The offspring may become sick, have birth defects, most die at a young age because disease. The living conditions for these animals are terrible and are the mothers are malnourished . Also animals are inbred and might get a disease that alters their lives forever. This is not the only type of animal abuse although it is the most common. Animals are captured taken out of the wild away from their families for our enjoyment. These animals may become depressed and not live a normal life. At times we think this is normal and think that this is okay but is it really? Is it okay to take elephants out of the wild and cage them to look at them in zoos? Is it okay to take Orcas away from their pods, knowing they will never fit in anywhere else? Putting these animals in circuses to be torchered and we are supporting this by buying those tickets to fund the cruelty. Do you support these organizations which do awful things to these animals?
The ugly truth is that animals are dying at the hands of their owners everyday, some in very violent ways that can be avoidable given the right solution. Slaughterhouses, puppy mills, dog fighting, and so on, are just a few examples of how animals are being treated badly by people. Animal cruelty is a form of violence which, un...
Animal testing is used to protect the health of humans. Everyday there are millions of people that wake up, not only to get on their daily schedule, but to apply makeup. There are over thousands of makeup brands like Mary Kay, Too Faced, Tarte, Covergirl, Anastasia, and many others. Some brands are well known for being cruelty free and vegan free. There are also some brands for example, Kylie Cosmetics, that are dangerous and very threatening to animals. Not only is there animal testing, but there is another subject; animal cruelty. Animal abuse is increasing to really high extents. Animal cruelty is global but going on in places like the Netherlands, Greece, Romania,
Slaughtering animals has been a problem around for many years. The beginning of changing this was the animal rights movement. This movement was recognized by Alexander Yersin in 1863. The Animal Rights Movement is an organization which seeks to help end the rigid moral towards animals. This means that a group of people work together to stop the suffering and pain these animals go threw just for us to have on the dinner table. Manatma Gandhi once said “to mind the life of a lamb is no less precious than that of a human being. I hold that, the more helpless a creature, the more entitled it is to protection by man from cruelty of man”.
Society needs to understand that animal’s rights must be considered for their best interest regardless of how valuable it may be to us, animals must be treated as any other human wishes to be treated. “The worst sin toward our fellow creatures is not to hate them, but to be indifferent to them. That is the essence of inhumanity” A social movement is really the only change that could help these oppressed creatures, for all the times they have been abused, neglected, or tested on. Throughout history, the world has fortunately become more open minded and considerate of others rights and needs, it is time for the world to see that animals must be treated with more respect than what they have been treated with in the past. “It is true, therefore, that women do not exist to serve men, blacks to serve whites, the poor to serve the rich, or the weak to serve the strong. The philosophy of animal rights not only accepts these truths, it insists upon and justifies them.” With this in mind, humans who believe to be better and superior than animals, and continue to harm them for selfish needs, are just as low as the Nazis or the
Have you ever thought about where your chicken come from before you put it on your plate? Chickens is one of my major concerns.
Dating back to the 1600’s, animal rights have been trying to come fully apart of our society. Every state in the United States has a law to protect animal rights but they are not all equal, therefore, animals are still in danger. They are in danger of many different ways that include abuse, testing, and fighting. Animal rights do not only affect animals, but humans also. Those who abuse animals can abuse other humans. It is understood that animals can be used for human benefits, but in order to lower the risk of danger for animals and humans, there should be more strict penalties for animal cruelty and have equal animal rights.
Animal cruelty has many forms, many reasons and most importantly, many victims. It is a growing problem in today’s society. Many people may wonder why people abuse animals. The thought is simple, however the answer is a little more complex, there are three main types of animal cruelty. The three reasons are as follows: unintentional, intentional, and cruel intentions.
All around the world, wild animals are being killed or even tortured for fur, sport, and even trophy. This is not just a problem here, but everywhere, it is a worldwide issue. Wild animals are a part of this earth, they share this earth we have with us, it is not just our planet. By killing these wild animals, we are saying goodbye to a big part of the world as we know it. If people stop killing these exotic or wild animals, our future generations will have the opportunity to love them and get to know them from afar, it will not just be something that once was, or something that used to be, it will be something that is and that always will be.
Animal abuse can be either deliberate abuse animal or simply failure to take care an animal. It is a crime of inflicting physical pain, suffering or death on an animal. Not just only killing the animal but the action of putting an animal into a danger situation is also consider as animal abuse. The actions that causes harm or suffering the animal for specific gain, no matter the animal is a pet, livestock or wild animal, the action is defined as animal abuse. Human torturing the animal for their own specific gain such as using animal skins and furs to make cloth and bag, animal meat to make delicacy, ivory and rhino horn to make traditional Chinese medicine, using animal as experimentation for product and training animal to make fun as entertainment
Animal cruelty has been going on for a long time and still continues to happen. It needs to end because animals are living things that can feel pain and suffering just like how we humans do. Animals will be used for safety tests such as cosmetic, food, and household. Animals are slaughtered in order for us to have food, and animals in zoos are not treated with care. The history of animal abuse begins with fighting dogs for sport.
Over the years, elephant populations have drastically declined. This is due to human encroachment on their habitat and poaching. Demand for ivory has increased the number of poaching kills in Africa. In 1988, Congress passed the African Elephant Conservation Act, which placed a ban against illegal ivory imports and authorizes government funding for elephant field conservation projects. Although some African countries have initiated African elephant conservation programs, many do not have the sufficient resources to properly manage, conserve and protect their elephant’s populations.
