Animal Cruelty
Danger, fear, pain, suffering, torture. These are all things that abused animals feel. “Animal cruelty is the human infliction of suffering or harm upon non-human animals, for purposes other than self-defense or survival” (Brown). Every day there are animals that are abused, abandoned, or required to struggle for survival. Left in unhygienic environments with no water or food, they have little hope as they live out their days without the love they deserve. Animal cruelty is like having a disease without a cure; there isn’t any help for the victims. Since animals cannot speak for themselves there are many forms of animal abuse that people overlook such as physical abuse, neglecting, experimenting, animal hoarding, organized abuse, and even sexual abuse.
Physical abuse is one of the main forms of abuse that happens towards animals. Most of the time, it is very obvious when an animal is being abused. There are different types of physical abuse such as torture, torment, harsh beating and cruel carnage. There are also different types of tormenting. Someone can be tormenting an animal by pestering, screaming, or threatening physical violence. Now in some cases it may be hard to tell if an animal is being abused because the normal signs that usually show such as bruises can be covered by their fur. If this is the case the person searching should look for other visible signs such as “limping, swelling of the body, bloody urine, and broken teeth” (Brown). Other signs may be flinching, fear biting, timidity, or hand shyness. Over the years many researchers have come to the conclusion that most of the time animal abuse takes place in households that have domestic violence. People from Society and Animals interviewed women w...

...uld abuse animals, there are still laws that deal with animal abuse. The laws for animal abuse should be and need to be taken in to greater deliberation and when considered they need to be used and respected properly. Abuse is only one thing but people can help with stopping this crime by just not perpetrating the crime and showing what the right way to treat animals is. Animal abuse is all around the world and every time an animal is hurt who is to really blame? So when looking at animal abuse in different ways it should always be taken seriously and is always wrong. Let us be the dominant and powerful human beings of this world, but sacrificing the life of hundreds to save one is just not right. There are lots of other ways. Killing, no matter who it is, is horrible. So let us stop this madness called animal abuse and contribute to a much better future for us all.
Facial scrapes, bruises, cuts and fractures are only few of the physical signs battered woman might suffer from. Public awareness increasingly rises over domestic violence. Domestic violence is an awful phenomenon that many women are suffering from. We can distinguish between two main types of abusive men. The two types are cobras and pit bulls. In this essay I will describe the similarities and differences between cobras and pit bulls.
Animal cruelty is a rapidly growing nationwide problem. Animals are being battered and starved everyday. There are many forms of animal cruelty; some forms are scientific research, abandonment, and mistreatment.
Robert Gonzales, from Bakersfield, seemed like an average, ordinary man. One night however, he was accused of splashing beach on a small dog, and wrapping the dog’s mouth with duct tape. His goal was to discipline the dog. Gonzales was caught and arrested for abusing the animal. Animal abuse is an occurring problem in the U.S. But can be prevented if we take action.
Ascione’s (1993) definition of animal cruelty is defined as “socially unacceptable behavior that intentionally causes unnecessary pain, suffering, or distress to and/or death of an animal” exclusive of socially condoned behavior, such as legal hunting and certain agricultural and veterinary practices. Not all violent individuals have been previously cruel to animals but studies have shown that a great number of them have exhibited this behavior. A great majority of the literature calls for a better understandin...
Animal abuse is currently happening everywhere in this world, and this can only stop if everyone acknowledges and stands up for what is right. However, the cause of animal abuse can lead to so many questions asked in our society through the secondary data analysis that the questions will then be answered. In fact, conflict theory will be the one applied to the abuse of animals. Lastly, a hypothetical mean of collecting primary data on animal abuse can then be answered. To put it briefly, this research paper is focusing on why family professionals can no longer ignore violence towards animals, the feminism and treatment of animals, and animal liberation and rights, to examine the causes that lead to animal abuse when animal abuse is being announced.
...althy individual, this is a warning.” There are deep psychological issues that lead to violent crimes against people” (cfawr). What is more shocking is that most animal abusers abuse animals for entertainment of both themselves and others, and to show their aggressiveness.
Animals are used today for many sources of protection, food, clothing, transportation, sports, entertainment, and labor, but millions of these animals die each year from abuse. “Most of the reasons that people give for denying animals rights are: animals do not have souls, god gave humans dominion over the animals, humans are intellectually superior to animals, humans are intellectually superior to animals, animals do not reason, think, or feel pain like humans do, animals are a natural resource to used as humans see fit, and animals kill each other” (Evans). It all started in the nineteenth century, when people began abusing animals by beating them, feeding them poorly, providing them with no shelter or poor shelter, left to die if they were sick or old, or by cruel sports. Most of the organized efforts to improve human treatment of animals all started in England. Around the 1800s, there was signs of rising concern for animal welfare in the United States.
Should animals have to go through pain and suffering? Should they have to go without food and/or water? The answer is no. Animal abuse happens everyday and it happens because people are barbarous or because they don’t know how to take the best care of an animal that they have. Whatever the reason it’s still not right and will never be okay. This paper will cover a brief history of animal abuse, the statistics, the signs of animal abuse, and what can be done to stop animal abuse. Animal abuse needs to end for the animals that can’t speak for themselves.
Seeing maimed animals are not pleasant images. Those images sometimes appear across computer and television screens. The advocacy groups who place these images in the public’s view are trying to jolt people into the realization that abuse exists. For every ten seconds that goes by an animal is getting abused (“Animal… Statistics”). One statistic states that “71% of pet-owning women entering women’s shelters reported that their batterer had injured, maimed, killed or threatened family pets for revenge or to psychologically control victims; 32% reported their children had hurt or killed animals” (“Animal… Violence”). Animal cruelty comes in several forms, some of which people do not know. There is animal experimenting, animal abuse, and mistreatment of animals. and through revealing the results from research, one discovers the horrific effects of animal abuse.
Animal cruelty is everywhere even in the country where the animals are raised for food. People beat, torturer, and even give animals drugs to make them high. When people are convicted of animal cruelty they basically just get a slap of the wrist, the court system does not charge them for anything. The reason they do not charge people for this is because the court system does not see them as people, we see them as animals but they also feel like us. We cannot stop people from doing things to animals but people can give them more time for what they did, the law put people away for murdering other people because they are humans.
Executive Summary Every 60 seconds, an animal is abused. Dogs, cats, horses, and many other types of animals are being neglected and tortured everyday, yet resulting in few and minor consequences for the perpetrators. Animal abuse is prevalent in the United States and has been an ongoing issue since the 1970's, and prior to. Society as a whole has chosen to avoid the facts and arguments about animal cruelty, because to some it is seen as acceptable and typical. It becomes much more frowned upon when people actually see the results of the cruelty, especially in the media.
The abuse that animals endure at human hands is heartbreaking, sickening, and infuriating. Animals are just as delicate as humans, so why not abuse us too? Animal lives should be just important as ours. No animals should be killed or abused for testing, entertaining, clothing, or hoarding. Every year, millions of animals are being killed and torture for testing.
For animal welfare and the causes of animal abuse new research has been created. Since animal abuse is fairly a new subject, new research is constantly brought up. In the Bahamas a study was done in the College of Bahamas, and it states that, “…dogs were equally likely to be considered members of the household in homes without domestic violence,” (Fielding 197). Homes with violence show that humans substitute human victims for animal victims. Animal rights activists are trying to break down symbolic boundaries betw...
...ed by law because of murdering others, then it is wrong to kill animals as well.
I will discuss each one in more detail. Many people who abuse animals do not realize that they are actually hurting animals, this is known as unintentional. When some people try to discipline their pets, they use tactics that they think are acceptable, when in reality, this is probably not the best way. People also abuse animals due to lack of attention, such as forgetting to feed and water the animals for a number of days. A family may take the animals with them when they leave the house, and forget to leave a window down with the animal inside.
