What is animal abuse? Animal abuse is cruelty towards an animal whether it's beating it, not feeding it, not loving it, and testing(and more). So, why do people do it? They do it because they have control over the innocent animal, and they do it so often the animal starts to think they deserve it, when really they did nothing wrong. What can we do to fix it? Well, there is no way to stop this from happening, just like there is no way to stop world hunger, but we can try and prevent it from happening and help people become more aware of what is going on around them. Research has found that people who abuse animals are five times more likely to commit other acts of violence. Not only is it the abusers who do other acts of violence, also research shows that children who witness the abuse are three times more likely to later in life, play a role in an abusive relationship. For the abuser, it is about the power they have over the helpless victim, and in this case it would be an animal. Because of this, when an abuser(who abuses someone) has power over their victim, and they leave, the abuser will then turn to the animal and torture it or even kill it for revenge. So, recently states have changed their legislation to include protections for victims animal, which gives people the opportunity to leave an abusive situation with a peace of mind, because they know their pets will be safe. In the future, animal abuse could potentially lead to more people committing acts of violence. Police know that in homes where animal abuse is a problem, other issues often occur, so by reporting, investigating, and prosecuting animal cruelty can help take criminals off the
