Animal abuse is when people treat animals, or an animal, with violence or cruelty. People don’t know how common or rare animal cruelty is, since it is never really reported. According to the article, animals-abused.org, they have stories about animals that have been abused. For example, they have a story about a dog named Oogy. Oogy was about 10 weeks old when he was abused. Most of Oogy’s ear was torn off, and his lower jaw got damaged. The person that abused Oogy threw him into a cage so he could die. Thankfully, people rescued Oogy, and now he has a forever home. If Oogy wasn’t rescued by these people, then he would’ve died because he got left to die. Oogy’s owners say “This is one of the happiest dogs I’ve ever met” Dr Bianco told us. “I can’t imagine what he’d be like if half his face hadn’t been ripped off.” This story might inspire people to rescue dogs, or any animals that are being abused. This is why animal abuse is so horrible to all animals.

Animal cruelty is just one reason why animal abuse is bad. Part of the problem is people who hurt animals don’t do it on purpose they just do not know how to take care of the animals (Mason 6). Other times people enjoy engaging in watching two animals fight. Some owners test them to see if they are good fighting dogs and if they are not they kill their dogs This one owner killed his dogs that would not fight by hanging, drowning and slamming the dogs (Dohrmann). Most of the time when the animals fight one of the animals dies and the other of is badly injured (Mason 31). The people that watch place bets on which dog they think will win. This is cruel to the animal because they have to fight if they don’t they may die. If they don’t die they

When an animal is beaten, it not only causes the animal to be physically harmed, but it can also result in the animal receiving severe psychological damage. The abuse can cause the animal to become afraid of all humans, whether they are abusive or not. Not only can the victim become afraid of humans, it can cause it to even be hostile towards people and other animals. For example, if a dog’s previous owner was abusive, that can end in the dog being aggressive towards others due to its fear of being hurt like he/she was in the past. Animals don’t have a voice; people have to be the voice for them. Animals have no way to help themselves because people make them do what people want them to. They cannot talk back to say that they do not like or want to do what people make them do, people have to go off on what is right. Animals are living creatures they need food, water, and to be taken care of or they could die. People take advantage of animals because people look at them and think since they are not human their lives are not important. It becomes much more frowned upon when people actually see the results of the cruelty, especially in the media.
The abuse that animals endure at human hands is heartbreaking, sickening, and infuriating. Animals are just as delicate as humans, so why not abuse us too? Animal lives should be just important as ours. No animals should be killed or abused for testing, entertaining, clothing, or hoarding. Every year, millions of animals are being killed and torture for testing.
