Approximately 6.5 million animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year. 3.3 million are dogs and 302 are cats. In the year 2011, about 1423 animal abuse cases were reported. 70.1% involved dogs,20.9% involved cats, and 24.1% involved other animals,this was just in 2011. Most animals get abused in the factory farm industry.
Some examples of animal abuse are dogfighting, cockfighting, neglect,warfare,circuses,and many more. In circuses the performers whip the animals for no reason. Animal neglect is when dogs,cats,horses, any animal has been starved and bruised and gotten pretty bad beatings. The most abused animal are dogs. They would be chained up all day without food,water, and shelter.

This story Animal Farm by George Orwell is a novel about an animal revolution over an oppressive farmer. The irony in the story comes when the pigs turn into the very thing revolted against. They exhibit the same cruelty by treating the other animals the same or even worse than previous owners. This cycle of cruelty is shown in the Russian revolution by Joseph Stalin who is represented by Napoleon in the story. Cruelty in animal farm is shown by the human’s treatment of the animals, and the animal’s eventual treatment of each other and the ironic characteristics of the two.

According to ASPCA-Puppy Mills- it says that dogs are kept in cages that have a wire flooring. This causes the dogs paws and legs to bleed. When female dogs can’t reproduce, they are killed because the main point of puppy mills are to sell dogs for money. Many puppies born in puppy mills, are born with genetic diseases like heart disease. Since these puppy mill breeders are working undercover they are hard to catch. There is no legal way of selling dogs from puppy mills so don’t be tricked into buying one or by the licenses they show. Corrupt people who abuse their power often break their own rules. Throughout history this trend has been repeated again and again. One instance of abuse of power was Stalin after the Russian Revolutions beginning in 1917. He was power hungry and did not care if rules were broken. The abuse of power is demonstrated in many examples such as stories in novels.
I will discuss each one in more detail. Many people who abuse animals do not realize that they are actually hurting animals, this is known as unintentional. When some people try to discipline their pets, they use tactics that they think are acceptable, when in reality, this is probably not the best way. People also abuse animals due to lack of attention, such as forgetting to feed and water the animals for a number of days. A family may take the animals with them when they leave the house, and forget to leave a window down with the animal inside.
