A gifted and dedicated student, Simon bypassed the counsel of his family and friends and left school at age seventeen to pursue his artistic dreams. He accepted an invitation to study at London Art College but soon realized that the liberal values of big city art schools were too conflicting with his own. Simon decided to develop his talents with more of a hands-on approach and took a job as a corporate visual aids illustrator spending his spare time studying the work of his heroes Norman Rockwell, Harry Anderson, and Tom Lovell. While working in the heart of the city of London directly opposite the splendid St. Paul's Cathedral, Simon honed his artistic skills and quickly became recognized for his exceptional illustrating abilities. This led to a position as the sole illustrator in a small design firm where Simon learned to produce detailed paintings under tight deadlines.
All artists are influenced by or incorporate issues and events of their time and place in their artworks. This statement is confirmed by a number of artists such as Polykleitos (5th century BC), Michelangelo (1475-1564) and the father of cubism, Picasso (1881-1973). Although some may be less influenced or may be one of the creators/fathers of their arts, all artists follow this statement as the time and place from where they were born helped mould the artists.

Nevelson led an interesting life and was a leader and one of the most influential sculptors of the 20th century. She had to overcome many challenges in her life in order to be remembered as a successful artist.
Where does art-making begin and end? Andy Goldsworthy, a 40-year-old British artist who uses nature as a partner, raises this question with his works of amazing art; some of them are temporary, some meant to last. Goldsworthy creates works of extraordinary beauty using natural materials, stones, wood, water, which then disintegrate naturally or are deliberately dismantled. Andy Goldsworthy, a non-traditional sculptor, was born in Cheshire, England in 1956 and raised in Yorkshire. Currently, Goldsworthy resides at Penpont, Dumfriesshire, Scotland. While attending Harrogate High School, as a teenager, photographer and sculptor, he worked as a hired hand on farms outside Leeds, England.
While his life was building up to the moment he became rich off of his creativity, it helped him become the man he is today. No matter how unique his life has been, one thing has been a constant in his life, along with many others; He was influenced by the color and personality shown through a piece of art, which was the intent in the first place.

For how we receive information bears vitally on the ways we experience and interpret reality” (Birkerts31). He explains how vitally important reading and thinking is. Plus, he mentions how we are shifting from vertical to horizontal reading. Vertical reading is someone who reads about a topic thoroughly and gains a lot of information. To simplify, Birkerts wants everyone to think vertically in everyday life and Andy Goldsworthy seems to agree with him and Goldsworthy‘s vertical thinking is shown when he is creating his arts. In the movie “Rivers and Tides” Goldsworthy shows that an art is meant to be ephemeral. In other words, a piece of art will destroy in a time period. Considering Andy Goldsworthy’s work we’ll just assume that it decays, just because he works with things already in the immediate environment around him and it looks like, yes because of that factor it must. What Andy Goldsworthy was talking about in stating that “the very thing that brings it to life causes its death” is this idea that when something in the environment decays, another one of its kind is produced from that decay. Examples I guess could be a tree rotting into the soil, only to have that soil give birth to a new tree, or

Art serves the purpose of transmitting ideas about our lives and environment - forcing people to think about different aspects of our lives. Artist Andy Goldsworthy has a very specific style, creating mostly temporary art using nature as both his materials and his setting. His works range from gold leaf covered rocks to a photo of him throwing a string of kelp into the sky for it to contort into some seemingly random shape. This paper, however, will discuss Goldsworthy 's work “Sycamore Leaves Edging the Roots of a Sycamore Tree” which shows the base of a tree lined with a yellow gradient fading into the ground made from the leaves of the very tree it surrounds. Through this work,

A historical artist I found interesting in the world of art is Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, commonly known as Caravaggio, an Italian artist in the Baroque Era (Ornate Age). Caravaggio was born on September 29, 1571 to his father Fermo Merisi and mother Luci Aratori in Milan, Lombardy. At the age of 11, he was orphaned due to the death of his parents and found work as an apprentice for a painter named Simone Peterzano for four years. During his years under Peterzano, he was influenced by the outside art works of Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and other Northern arts. In 1592 at the age of 21, he moved to Rome, Italy the center of where artists gathered to work for less skilled painters. During his time in Rome, Cardinal Francesco del
When most people think of Paul Cezanne, they think of two words genius and painting. For these two words he is consider by far to be the Father of modern painting. Cezanne was born in Aix-en-Provence in 1839. He was to die in the same town in 1906.
In the past, there have been many famous artists, but few of them contributed their artistic skills to the design of the home. Michelangelo was a famous interior designer who created the most magnificent places for the richest of people. He made quantum use of his beautiful sculptures and paintings to create a rich ambiance. This is how interior design first began as a career. Years later, furniture, draperies, and wall coverings were included. Elsie de Wolfe was the first to practice interior design in the 1950s. Adam and Louis Comfort Tiffany, two American brothers, began a company to create beautiful furnishings and art, especially stained glass.
