Anderson's Feed Analysis

Ever since my parents were born, technology was not advanced as it is today. However, they grew up as educated people without the need of outsource help, such as internet, while doing their assignments. As we are in the twenty first century, technology has become very important in everybody in any society. Television, tablets, and smartphones are now part of everyone’s life because of the entertainment they provide and usefulness of these devices in variety of ways. However, today’s lifestyle has forced almost every individual in any household to rely and enjoy the dependency on electronics where any individual noonday’s has at least two electronic devices, such as laptop, smart-phone, or tablet. Currently and as part of technology advancement,

the imagining thoughts about how our lives will be computerized is, in fact, coming true. Also, the revolution of technology and the prediction of life mechanism in the near future which will depend on the use of internet is partially coming true. Feed by M.T. Anderson shows us many predictions and examples of the future, in reality many of these claims are coming alive today. As Anderson says “All around us, ads, TV shows, and movies nudge us with images of the high life, playing on our desire to belong.” Technology has many advantages and disadvantage in our life; however, technology has influenced our world and lifestyle to such a way where it controls our thoughts and seduces our needs to depend on technology rather than our brains.
Although Anderson’s futuristic predictions are claimed a decade ago in his book Feed, the advancement of technology has made major claims are coming alive and in actions in real life.

The necessity of using a smartphones, which are connected to a whole another universe called “internet,” on daily bases rises a question about the next generation and an easier method for accessing the world of information. So, Anderson’s claim about implanting an electrical device in our brains, such as a “feed,” might be considered present in our life to a certain level but the information of the feed has been fed already in our brains as information from different untrusted sources. Although Anderson’s exaggerates while expressing the services that the feed provides where people can experience the physical sense of things before seeing them, such as test driving a car or retrieving memory of the past, however, the advancement of technology nowadays is proving its ability to apply them in real life in the near

future.
The advantages of the internet has fascinated our brains where people access and search about topics or products of their interest.

However, what many internet users do not realize that the internet web evaluates one’s thoughts and bases the outcome information to where it satisfies the user’s need. As Anderson notes “everything we do is thrown in to a big calculation. Like they’re watching us right now” (97). For example, most social media websites have now adapted and dedicated major space of their website as a portion of advertisement which, in fact, it advertises for products based on individual interest and his/her pervious search. Furthermore, following social media trends and sharing our personal thoughts about specific topic on the internet are some of the aspects that the internet studies about our identities. Analyzing what we are experiencing on the internet as human being, we can conclude that world of technology throws everyone based on his personality to where he/she belongs and “these demographic studies that divide everyone up into a few personality types”

(97).
In conclusion, internet makes most people’s lives easier and opens a world of communication with others. However, some of the negative aspects can be inherit from the over use and the high dependency on it. Technology might overtake the role of human being in the near future, for that reason, controlling and disciplining ourselves to the right use of technology is very important; since valid and thoughtful ideas come out of human brains which base claims on proper way of thinking and personal experiences that internet would never accomplish. To sum up, people should use technology in a reasonable way and more importantly being cautious while accessing the web since the vast amount of untrusted information might influence our brains.
