At the beginning of the film, I noticed that the main protagonist’s family had not focused on the importance of getting Jonah’s attention. They simply did not care and talked when he did not see or understand the words. Getting a deaf person's attention is valuable and respectful to them.. Even in the movie, I observed the significance of ASL. When Jonah gets his hearing aids, he starts learning ASL. In ASL, deaf people learn to read lips to understand others clearly and sign. This is a significant part of the film and highlights the empowerment of the next step they take into connecting with the real world of communication with others. In the movie, numerous inaccurate portrayals are shown throughout. The film inaccurately portrays empathy towards the deaf community. The film captures Jonah’s parents struggle to ideally understand him. They didn't know how to assist him in his daily struggles. Usually, parents are remorseful to their children and are guilty if their children are unhealthy or struggling psychologically. His dad didn't know how to help Jonah out and had no remorse for his abnormal behavior, overshadowing him
