Egypt is one of the most fertile countries located in the Mediterranean Sea; because approximately 40,000 years ago many people lived in Egypt earlier than in other places. The Egyptian environment is a hot and dry area, because it is a part of the Sahara Desert. Many Egyptians’ religious beliefs were polytheistic; they believed in several different gods. The economy during the ancient Egyptian time period was different because they were one of the first groups on earth to begin the farming trade. Although Egyptian history occurred many years ago, it is still interesting and fascinating. (Environment/ culture, Religion, Economy) Of course, Ancient Egypt was famously known for their pyramids. Which was used to store dead bodies of deceased kings and all the things they believed he needed in the afterlife. The temples were designed with consistent pattern, typically with an entrance, open forecourts, roofed hall and the inner sanctuary. As often seen on television, as one would go down the hallway of the temple the width would get narrow and narrower. Not surprising at all but only priests were allowed in the sanctuary. Paintings of Ancient Egypt, as seen mainly in the temples, were bright and colorful. These paintings presented both daily life of the Egyptians, and also their ideas of the afterlife. The population number of Ancient Egypt extended between 1.5 and 6 million depending on the period. Most of the people lived close to the Nile, but there were also a significant number of people who lived in the Nile Delta. During its years of development, specifically around in 3500, the ancient land of Egypt was located close to multiple continents, these continents being Europe, Asia, and Africa. It was separated into different divisions, mainly geographical, there being four major physical geographic sections. The first was water-based, the Nile Valley and Delta, the second two were deserts, Eastern Desert and Western Desert, and the last was the Sinai Peninsula. The ancient Egyptians also considered their land to be separated in two more divisions: “red land” and “black land”. The desert surrounding Egypt was the “red land” section because it was barren. The area served as a means of protection, as it divided Egypt from enemies that wanted to attack and ...
Egypt has one of the longest histories of any nation in the world. Written history of Egypt dates back to about 5,000 years, the commencement of civilization. While there is divergence in relation to Early Egyptian times, it is said that Egypt came to be around 3200 B.C., during the reign of a king by the name of Menes and unified the northern and southern cities of Egypt into one government. In 1675 B.C., Egypt was invaded by the Hyksos, people from the east, bringing along the very first of chariots and horses ever to come across Egyptian soil. Approximately 175 years later in 1500 B.C., the Egyptians had gotten rid of the Hyksos and driven them out. In 1375 B.C., Amenhotep IV had become the king of Egypt. During his reign he eliminated the worship of Egyptian gods and initiated the idea of only worshipping one god. But after his death, his ideas were retired and old ways were reestablished. Egyptian supremacy then started to decline around 1000 B.C. Between 1000 B.C. and 332 B.C., Egypt was ruled by many such as the Libyans, Assyrians, Ethiopians, and Persians. In 640, Muslims conquered Egypt and founded the city of Cairo in 969 and deemed it as the capital of Egypt. For many centuries Egypt was ruled by Muslim caliphs. A prominent ruler of this period was Saladin, who battled the Christian Crusaders at the conclusion of the twelfth century. In 1798 Napoleon Bonaparte invaded Egypt but was then forced to withdraw in 1801 Turkish and British armed forces. In 1805 Mohamed Ali began ruling Egypt till 1848 and great changed the country in terms of modernization and its military. During Mohamed’s conquest, he borrowed a lot of money from the French and British, which later resulted in Egypt’s coloniza...

Like the Mesopotamians, the Egyptians also believed in god and goddesses and was one of the first to develop their unique writing system called hieroglyphics. Ancient Mesopotamia Mesopotamia, the land between the Tigris and Euphrates, was home to the ancient civilizations of Sumer, Babylon, and Akkad. The Mesopotamian people were predominantly of polytheistic faith; the social construct of gods allowed them to develop meaning and order in their lives. Every aspect of life was dominated by the belief that submitting to the worship of gods would shield them from divine wrath. Cities were endowed with patron gods that were guardians, and the duty of the ruler was to act upon their behalf. Ziggurats were built to honor the holiness of the gods and to appease them in hopes of attaining their blessings.
One of the most interesting aspects of ancient Egypt is its religion. The depth of Egyptian thinking and rich imagination displayed in the creation of ideas and images of the gods and goddesses is beyond compare. On elaborating their beliefs, the Egyptians were working on the cosmic plane searching for an understanding of the most basic laws of the universe (Religion). The ancient Egyptians instilled their religion into every aspect of life including their art and architecture.
Ancient Egypt was an absolutely brilliant place despite the blistering climate and all the sand. When someone hears Egypt nine times out of ten they think of pyramids. The pyramids in Egypt are so famous, yet no one knows exactly how one would, or even could construct such a monument. However we have found out what lays inside of some of these gargantuan, monumental structures. Unlike present time where one would get put six feet under the ground with nothing but a casket and a tomb stone; in ancient Egypt pharaohs got high end treatment and was buried carefully and with riches. Bob Brier stated that before the pyramids were ever built people would be buried in the sand in graveyard type places with their belongings. Their belongings could include things they want to take to the afterlife like board games, weapons, jewels, and gold. Then because of grave robbers stealing precious items they made it so much more difficult to get the belongings of a person. So the pharaoh had people build pyramid type structures that could have transformed into the idea of pyramids. This is where the some of the pharaoh would be buried. He would live out his afterlife here. On the contrary the popular belief that all pharaohs are buried in pyramids many were not buried in a pyramid. A lot of pharaohs, like King Tut for example, were not buried in a pyramid he was buried in a tomb in the Valley of the Kings. The Valley of the Kings is where archeologists found many pharaohs and many riches like gold and ancient beauties.

Providing extremely fertile soil is one, if not the most important, roles the Nile River played in the life of the ancient Egyptians. By providing fertile soil, the Nile made it easy for cities and civilizations to grow alongside the banks of the river. This fertile soil comes from the annual flooding of the Nile. This replenishes the top soil with silt deposits that hold much needed nutrients for crops to grow. Ancient Egyptians developed highly complex irrigation methods to maximize the effect of the Nile waters. When the Nile overflows in mid summer, Egyptians divert the waters through the use of canals and dams. As the water seeped into the farm land, rich deposits of silt ensured a good harvest for the year. This allows the civilizations of Egyptians to grow enough food to feed the community. Without the annual flooding of the Nile, Egyptians would have a very difficult time growing necessary amount food to sustain life. Most of the land in the Egyptian nation is dry desert. Very little rain falls year round here. The river provides the needed water to grow the crops as well as provide drinking water for the people. Th...
