In the song Location by Khalid the point is to express how he feels towards a girl. He says he doesn't feel like they communicate enough with each other and they need to become closer because its a un health relationship but he likes her alot and says that he wants nothing else but her. He says in the song “focus on communicating” and that “I don't need nothing but you” that shows that he loves her so much. To spend so much time with someone and want to get closer shows you care and that you love them dearly. Also to only look at one person in the way you love them for along time is a amazing thing that is hard to come by. The reason that I know the song is about these things is because He straight up says what I think the song is all about
Feeling unwanted from the closest people in your life who turn away from you when you need them the most, is the worst feeling a person can endure. I chose the song “My Story” by Sean McGee, because people young and old can relate to his song. People from different backgrounds can relate to each other when there are living homeless or raised as a foster child. Sean McGee wrote “my daddy don’t know, my momma don’t care, it don’t matter if I’m here, it don’t matter if I’m dead” people all around the world have the same issues and share a common culture. A master status is the most important status a person occupies, this is a key factor in determining a person’s social position.
Good morning Mrs Dover and 8D. I have chosen to analyse the film clip “black fella, white fella” by the Warumpi band, and have determined that the song and associated images is partially successful in communicating aboriginal values, such as culture, land and family. The lyrics include the language features repetition, alliteration and rhetorical questions to deliver a message of reconciliation and equality. These features are also supported by visual imagery that is intended to support the ideas within the song.
My first song I´ve chosen is Sean McGee, song titled My Story. Mainly the song is about him facing different struggles, obstacles, and all the horrible things and situations he´s been in throughout his life. I can connect to this song and the lyrics for many reasons. One of his lines were ¨Do you know how it feels to be left out in the rain¨? And I have faced times like this when I feel like no one is there or have my back, and in the line he´s trying express how it feels to have nobody and be all alone. Also throughout this song he expresses how everyday you wake up your face with something rather it's just a minor issue or something that will greatly impact your life.
“Fire away. Take your best shot, show me what you got. Honey I’m not afraid (Chris, Lines 4-5)…” Strength, love, heartache, all words that many people can identify with, but what about mental illness, depression, and suicide. These words are those that humans avoid, pretend they are not there, but in reality those three words effect many more people that was ever thought possible. Over 18.2% of United States citizens suffer from a mental illness (Depression), 6.7% of United States citizens suffer from depression (Depression), and each year in the United States there are on average 42,773 deaths by suicide (American). Now, many people can relate to the words love and heartbreak, but many more can identify with the three words that the world
In the song talks meanly about how a guy pretends to be someone who he isnt so that people get along whith him. Based upon a research about the song, its basically about how a guy takes to dinner pretndending to be a good person, in conclusion he drugs her so that he can take her to a hotel and raped her.
Rap music has given me personally something to look up to. Not a role model but hope of continuing my dreams because rappers successfully made it. “For what’s money without happiness, or hard times without the people you love” is from a song called “Love Yourz” by J. Cole. He clearly understands how there is “beauty in the struggle and ugliness in the success” because he’s lived that life. Other songs such as “2Face” or “The Autograph” were instantly relatable to me because he has been through several struggles from the beginning of his childhood. Cole’s father left when he was six leaving his mother and younger brother alone. Cole became “the man of the house” but becoming a rapper is not as easy as it seems. Cole’s messages in these two songs are relative because I too, have had several issues with my mother and father creating a sense of lonesome. Hearing music like Coles helped me overcome my
Fortunate son is a song by a band name Creedence Clearwater Revival. The song talks about the difference between kids that belongs to rich families and kids that belongs to poor families. In the verse writer says, “Some folks are born, silver spoon in hand”. Kids that were born in a wealthy family stay rich. They can do whatever they want just because they are rich. In the song, the singer also talks about how the kids that belong to rich families do not have to join the military. They can go to college and get a degree on a full time study. However, kids that belong to poor families are forced to join the army and fight for the country. Rich kids are privileged but poor kids are not.
In the video produced on TED “Embrace the Remix” by Kirby Ferguson, he discusses the importance of understanding that “creativity comes from without not from within and that we are not self made but dependent on each other” (Ferguson, 2012). Ferguson discusses how everything is a remix and defines remixing as copying, transforming, and combining. He makes a logical sound argument through the use of logical fallacies to convince his viewers. Ferguson argues how remixing helps creativity through the use of logos by providing cases of Steve Jobs building off ideas, appealing to ethos with poisioning the wall fallacy, and emotionally appeal to the viewers through pathos with appeal to tradition.
After leaving the #BlackLanguageMatters class on a late Thursday afternoon, I had an overwhelming sense of excitement and nervousness for the profound things I had witnessed and heard. After spending the majority of my night telling my friends all about Harry, no words could truly express his truly special resilient personality. Walking out of that class, I not only felt as though I had made a new life long friend, but I felt a surge of hope, the kind of hope that makes you want to a better person.
"Fun" is an American indie pop band formed by Nate Ruess in 2008. Since then they have released two albums, Aim and Ignite in 2009 and Some Nights in 2012. Both of these albums were both financially successful because of their deep and meaningful lyrics that Nate himself wrote. Their song, “Some Nights”, was released on June 4, 2012 as part of the album with the same name.
I decided to expand on my Week 5 Post All About That Bass. Our assignment for that week was to analyze Meghan Trainor’s song All About That Bass and to give our opinion on what message we believe the song lyrics and video provided the public with. The second part of our assignment also involved watching “It’s Not About the Nail” and the Dave Barry article that addressed stereotypes about gender and what affect they might have on individuals.
The re-invasion of pop music has brought out the theme of love and relationships even more so then ever. If a songwriter has “writer’s block”, then the simple solution is to write a love song. “All I want is you (Come over here baby). All I want is you (You make me go crazy)... I‘m gonna love you right...” (Aguilera), is part of the chorus to Christina Aguilera’s song “Come on Over”. The attraction to this song to girls is in thinking that they could be in the situation of the female character in the song, finding the perfect guy and spending time with him. For guys, the attraction comes because a beautiful girl is singing this and they can pretend that she is singing to them. Something similar is also found in the song “Doesn’t Really Matter” by Janet Jackson. In this song she is stating all the things she loves about a certain individual. She can live with his imperfections and doesn’t care what anyone else cares. “Doesn’t really matter what the eye is seeing. Cause I’m in love with the inner being. And it doesn’t really matter what they believe. What matters to me is you’re nutty, nutty, nutty for me.” (Janet Jackson) This song is good in that it is a love song unlike many out there today. In this song we see that the main character loves her man because of who he is.
The song I picked for this homework assignment is called Runaway Love by Ludacris and Mary J. Blige. The song is describing the hardships of three young girls and their struggle to survive. Finally, the girls are fed up with the lives they are forced to live and decide to pack up their things and run away. I think this song can relate to many aspects of sociology that we have learned in class. Some examples shown through the song are poverty, education, healthcare, marriage and family. All three girls’ different stories and struggles they face.
The billboard U.S ranking rank in 1987 the song “Forever And Ever, Amen” by Randy Travis as peak position number one in the category of country singles, and in 2009 the song “Best I Ever Had” by Drake as the number one in category of hot hip-hop songs. ” Forever And Ever, Amen” (Randy), the singer sang about a girl for whom he has a great affection, while in “Best I Ever Had” (Drake), Drake sang and complemented his girl whom he want back. Although the songs “Forever And Ever, Amen” by Randy and “Best I Ever Had” by Drake both talk about love and where very popular in different era, they have many differences in the ways they express their message, how their music sound,
it is exactly about but we can only assume that it is about her lover.
