Warning is an article written by Terry McCarthy, published on the 11th of March 2001 in the Time Magazine. It is about a school shooting in Santee, California and about the shooter, Andy Williams’ background.
Andy Williams was born in the state of Maryland, and moved to California with his father because of his fathers job. His father was busy with his job and thereby neglected Andy, leading him into feeling abandoned and alone. He rarely saw his mother and would often call his friends mothers mom. When he moved to California, he was bullied, and even his friends taunted him. This led him into troubles with school and placed him in the wrong crowds.
He ended up in a crew, one of many in Santee who was known for smoking marijuana, drinking tequila and shoplifting when not doing one of the two first. When Andy, a couple of weeks before the shooting told his crew that he was going to “pull a columbine” on his school, they called him a pussy and dared him to do it. He finally did it on the 5th of March, he went on the usual shooting spree associated with a “Columbine” and ended up killing two and injuring 13. …show more content…

His Dad neglected him, his mom wasn’t there for him, his friends in school bullied him around the clock and tragically enough, the streets around Santee was considered safe, with very idyllic names, even though the adults would find out the truth far too late.
His friends bullied him and mistreated him continuously, as Laura Kennamer, a friend of Andy’s told Terry McCarthy: "They'd walk up to him and sock him in the face for no reason," she says.
