Hunter S. Thompson once said, “I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they’ve always worked for me.” There are no other words that would describe Dr. Thompson in a more accurate fashion. He lived his life like no other human being could ever imagine. He is arguably the most famous and creative writer to have lived, especially considering that he was the one who created the new style of writing that is referred to as “Gonzo” writing. He was the eye of a culture movement that left a significant impact on society’s perspective overall.
Hunter was raised in a household that was below of average wealth; all while his friends were from the other side of town with considerable more wealth. His father passed away when he was at the age of 14, forcing his mother who was a heavy alcoholic to raise him and his brothers. His mother never had a grip on him allowing him to do as he pleased with no remorse. He was a child from hell that was continuously getting into mischief, whether it be vandalism, violence, pranks, theft, underage drinking, and just stirring up about anything he could. During his final days of being a senior in high school, he and two friends were arrested for theft. He was left in the jail system, while his two friends were released on the sole basis that they came from a family of wealth. He had the choice of staying in jail or joining the United States Air force, which he chose to serve his country.
The one thing that Hunter really had a passion for was writing, in which he started at a young age and would continue to further develop his very own unique style of writing. His style of writing was non-traditional that went against every rule of journalism. It was a subjective form that ...

In the short story “The Hunter” the author Richard Stark introduces Parker, the main character of this book. The main character is a rough man, he’s a criminal, a murderer, and even an escaped convict. He’s described as crude and rugged and though women are frightened by him, they want him. Parker is not the classic criminal, but rather he’s intelligent, hard, and cunning. In this story the author carefully appeals to his audience by making a loathsome criminal into a hero, or rather, an anti-hero. The author, Richard Stark uses ethical appeal to make his audience like Parker through the use of phronesis, arête, altruism and lastly the ethos of his audience.
For many people, hunting is just a sport, but for some it is a way of life. In Rick Bass’s “Why I Hunt” he explains how he got to where he lives now and what he thinks of the sport of hunting. There are many things in the essay that I could not agree more with, and others that I strongly disagree. Overall this essay provides a clear depiction of what goes through the mind of a hunter in the battle of wits between them and the animal.
The story of Lewis Grizzard began on the twentieth day of October Nineteen Hundred Forty Six in Columbus, Georgia. He was born to an Army soldier, Lewis Grizzard Sr., and a school teacher, Christine; they were later divorced and Lewis and his mother moved to Moreland, a small town near Newnan. Grizzard earned his B.A. in journalism in 1968, after which he went to work for the Atlanta Journal and Constitution as a sports writer. During his college years, at The University of Georgia he “shunned the school newspaper in favor of the independent Athens Daily News”, according to the biography written by his wife (D. Girzzard) . Sorrowfully, the literary world suffered a great loss as Grizzard passed away due to a congenital heart defect in March of Nineteen Ninety-four.

After publishing her first book, Woods gained a new sense of respect for authors. “I realized firsthand the blood, sweat, and tears that go into publishing. So anyone who has done it is an inspiration.”
Some people write for entertainment and some people write for fortune, but other people write to tell the world their story and enlighten us to life’s lessons. Literary fiction is created to do more than just merely entertain. It is created to tell a story, to take the reader from one mindset to another and bring about the reader’s understanding of the purpose. Literary fiction explores innate conflicts of the human condition through cosmic writing. Richard Wright chooses to use this kind of writing to reach the world. Wright grew up in a time where he was denied many privileges because of his color and he really made a point to express his feelings to us through his writing. His life, works and short story “A Man Who Was Almost a Man contribute directly to his literary style.
After my successful college years, I became a well-known writer, poet, and teacher. My inspiration for writing came from the times that I lived through, mostly from the major social changes that were happening in the US from the 1950’s to the 1970’s.
