The Night Attack on Sanjo Palace has the purpose of documenting an era of Japanese history. Specifically, the details show a war and the “Events of the Heiji Era” in the 13th century. The Night Attack was a plan of Fujiwara no Nobuyori’s plan to kidnap the emporer and retired emperor to gain more power in the empire. The scrolls were probably most meaningful to the people in the night attack, but currently, the scroll is probably most meaningful to relatives of people in the night attack and war, because it represents a part of their history that their ancestors were included in.
