Upon receiving this project, my mind began racing as I looked through all the potential shows I could attend. After awhile I came to the conclusion that while I appreciate the talent and effort that goes into opera, I do not always enjoy it. That sentiment follows me when it comes to instrumental music, such as classical, as well. However, I have always enjoyed musicals because I can easily follow the story due to the often familiar movie style pacing. With this in mind, I knew I wanted to attend one. Luckily, a classmate discovered that the North Raleigh Christian Academy was going to show Irvin Berlin’s iconic musical; White Christmas. To my pleasant surprise, this show sold out every single day they put it on and the energy in the building …show more content…
It is a joyful yet slow song. When the musical brings you up with large scale jazz pieces and comedy, this song brings you back down and comforts you. Only sung twice, this song appears near both the beginning and end of the show, highlighting its importance. To me, this song highlighted the innocence at the heart of the musical. When it first appears, it is sung by hopeful soldiers yearning to go home. The second, and last time, it appears as a resolution to the issues of the musical. Throughout the plot, the characters are littered with desire, miscommunication, and often confusion. But after they are all together and safe, it begins to snow despite all forecast. They proceed to due the only reasonable thing to do in this beautiful moment, sing. This song represents both the beginning and end by way of the context in which it is sung, as well as highlighting to the audience what this show is really all …show more content…
The entire cast, and maybe even a few extras who snuck in, contributed to this final piece by lending their voices and dancing shoes. This was the third act of a Michael Bay movie in that it was a explosion of music and dancing that this show had not reached until this point. Tempo describes the speed at which the piece is moving. The tempo of this song starts fairly slow, but continually gains speed right up to the end of the song, and by way of that, end of the show. To match this accelerating tempo, the dancing and theatrics on stage increase in terms of amount of people and what they are doing as well. It sort of felt like when fans storm a field or court after their sports team wins a big game, except these fans can tap dance and sing. Another thing I loved about this song, as well as most of the show, is the timbre. Timbre is the quality of sound in the piece. This song had a glittering, warm, and jazzy timbre. Simply put, this is the kind of music that makes you feel good. Most of the show had this timbre, but this final song took that theme and expanded it as much as the auditorium would
Singing was also very important in the play. Most often, the songs that were sung in the play were used in conjuction with lighting to create the mood. Deep, slow songs indicated that times were changing from good to bad, or from bad to worse. High, fast songs introduced happy scenes. Scenes were also changed according to song, such as the jail scene. The cast began to sing a song about freedom and the jail bars disappeared, indicating through song that the men had been freed. Also, song was important in the play because the songs were specific to the african american culture.

The news caught them on live television alerting their families that they were now available for Christmas. Both Brad and Kate’s families are divorced, so there were four families to visit. They plan

...xcited to have this experience. Part of the drama of the concert at first is felt when the musicians come in and sit down and begin tuning up their instruments. I would not be able to comment on the performance of the orchestra. During the performance, I seen the audience were moving with the music, but I felt like that everyone seems knows more music than what I learned throughout this semester. After I went home and did some of the research on these music I finally understand why these people like to attend the orchestra concerto, it was because that every piece of music has a history behind it. The Los Angeles audience seemed to me to be people who know music and who will listen to something new in a respectful way. All the same, when the more familiar sounds of the last piece were heard, I could feel a little sense of relaxation and fun coming into the room.
thesis of how the musical brought our inner child out to realize our true struggles in life.
Also the songs really present the build up of certain situations on the stage and put a lot of attitude in the specific scene. For example the “ Jet Song” is the first song in the play. This is sung by a jet and it shows how much of a family they are. Another important song that is sung by Tony is “Something is Coming”. Tony sings this song to express his true feelings about the jets and how he has moved on from them. He has a gut feeling that something wonderful is going to take place soon in his life. Tony also sings a song called “Maria” which is about the girl he fell in love with at first sight. Maria sings a song called “ I feel pretty”. She sings this and explains how she is so in love with tony and she describes how nothing will tear her love with him apart. Riff sings a song called “cool” and it express his attitude and how he carries himself in fights, he means well and wants the best for the gang. All of these songs show how music can be a very powerful tool to express feeling and help be in that character 's
I went to see the play “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever”, on November 27th at The Eisemann Center in Richardson, TX. The performance was put on by Creative Arts for Christ and they are using this play to share the Gospel through their God given talents of acting. They had two different casts depending on which day they were performing, while I was there it was the red cast that performed. This play is based off the famous children’s book and how a family of misbehaved children end up going to church, hearing the Gospel for the first and acting in the Christmas pageant. The venue at The Eisemann Center was laid out very nicely, I liked how the chairs were at an angle where you did not feel very far away from the stage. They also had a unique
Throughout the second and final act the musical content within the play acts as a story of it’s own through theme and variation. Each separate song represents a feeling and or mood and is enhanced as it is varied throughout the act. Like the first act, the songs are used to portray poverty, suffering, hardships, and even death. However, unlike the first act, there is also a theme of love and happiness. Closure is brought about with a sense of warmth and this is often heard through the display of the tempo. When the times were tough the tempo decreased and was often slow and morbid like.
A boy wearing the pajama holding a real rifle with his glass is broken. One such a picture of the film called “A Christmas Story” created by author Adam Zyglis published in 2012. Snowy weather, cozy fireplaces, candlelit dinners and plenty of mistletoe; these are the things that we commonly associate with the festive season. It is also a time for eating too much, spending too much and being bombarded with “Christmas” music at every turn. It’s not just every pop singer trying to rake in some extra holiday cash with a Christmas single either. The tradition of releasing a Christmas related song over the holiday season stretches quite a way back. Artists known for making use of synths in their songs are not exempt from this tradition either, so here is our list of six synth heavy Christmas songs for the festive season.
In "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens, Ebenezer Scrooge undergoes a transformation as a result of his encounters with three ghosts and becomes a kind, happy, and generous man. His greedy, cruel, and grumpy demeanor is replaced seemingly overnight, but he doesn’t just wake up and decide to be nice. It takes three Spirits to change his outlook on life - The Ghosts of Christmases Past, Present, and Future. The Ghost of Christmas Past makes Scrooge begin to regret his selfishness, and the Ghost of Christmas Present begins to teach him about others. This second Ghost helps to make him realize that money doesn't buy happiness. The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, however, teaches the most profound lesson of all: unless he changes, no one will care if Scrooge dies. Because of the Ghosts, by Christmas morning Ebenezer Scrooge is a completely different person from the man who went to bed on Christmas Eve.
Christmas is a holiday celebrated by many nations and religions around the world. The spirit of Christmas causes people to come together. It is one of the most favorite times of the year involving gift giving and merry making. To celebrate Christmas people decorate their homes, churches, and other buildings in which fellowship may take place. They may do this with ribbon, holly, mistletoe, and decking them with silver and gold. But where did all these traditions originate? Now, many believe that Christmas is the celebration of Jesus's birth. The truth is that all of these customs from Christmas pre-date our Lord's birth entirely! Christmas today is just a collection of traditions put together to make the holiday we celebrate every year on December
The songs which are 11 in total, are used to interrupt the acting which can be called “verfremdzeffect” or alienation effect. Brecht neither used the songs as discharge of emotions nor any psychological state but to focus on the theme of the play or to comment on incidents. With the exception of scenes 5 and 11, almost every scene contains a song. The final scenes contain two songs.
