The Souls of Black Folk is an influential work by W.E.B. Du Bois. It was published in 1903 which was they year the plight of the Black American post-emancipation was explored. Throughout the book, Du Bois discusses his views about race and equality through the lens of a black man who lives in America, which he calls “the veil” – a restricted view of the world in which opportunities are limited due to skin color.
