Caitlyn Jenner was born as William Bruce Jenner on October 28, 1949 and was born to William Hugh and Esther R. Jenner. William and Esther also had three other children Pam, Lisa and Burt. Unable to find out much on Bruce during the first stage of life according to Erickson’s stages of psychosocial development which was trust vs. mistrust. Do know that Bruce’s mother stayed home with the children. Bruce’s father was home every night and the family had dinner together. They all attended church every Sunday and would have family vacations. During the second stage which was autonomy vs shame and doubt Bruce did say in an interview on 20/20 with Diane Sawyer that he felt there was something different with him since he was very young. I am assuming it may have started during this stage. Bruce’s father when he was around this age use to call him bruiser because he was so active. During the third stage which was initiative vs. guilt. Bruce was wondering why he was feeling that something was missing in his life. Bruce when he was around this age felt always like he didn’t fit in. Bruce would spend a lot of time alone really did not like talking to other children. During the four stage which was industry vs. inferiority. In this stage Bruce was diagnosed with dyslexia. Also during this stage when Bruce was in Second grade he was held back to repeat the second grade again. This is the age around 8 or 9 Bruce went into his sister’s closet and got out a dress and when he took out the dress he marked the spot so he could put it back away fast in case someone was coming and that no one would know it was out of place. Then he went into his mother’s room and got out a scarf so he could put it on his head because he had short ha... ... middle of paper ... ...s gone through. At times I cried knowing that maybe there is more to this transgender group of people. There are over 700,000 people going through transgender. One doctor said that sexual desire is who you go to bed with and gender is who you go to bed as. Transgender doesn’t mean that they are wanting to be with the opposite sex. There are some that go either way. As far as Maslow goes I feel that Caitlyn has gone through The Maslow Hierarchy of needs. She is really trying to help others to be comfortable with the problems they were living with and to feel comfortable about becoming transgender. She is trying to maybe help stop the suicide and murders rates of people that are trying to covert to transgender. I feel people have to let people do what they feel is right for them. I just wish people would leave others alone and worry more about themselves.
Bruce is the focus of the book because he is dying; well, we're all dying, but he's dying soon.
Bruce Jenner was born on October 28, 1949 to William and Estelle Jenner in Mount Kisco, New York where he then grew up. He was the second of four children; Pam, Lisa, and Burt.
Throughout the graphic novel, Bruce hides his true sexuality by taking on a false identity for people to

In Benedict's Childhood he was the most daring of his friends at the age of eleven. He was often reckless and always picking fights. Unable to control Benedict his mother transferred
He is told that Bane will allow him to heal and live in the pit, which is essentially a prison, as Bane destroys Gotham, so Bruce can see the extent of his defeat over television. This is Bruce’s lowest point in the story, but he is given a beacon of hope by some of the other inmates in the pit. He learns of a boy that once made the climb out of the pit by making a jump that to every other man has been impossible. This jump gives Bruce a purpose. He recovers from his injury and trains his body to make the jump. News reports of the situation in Gotham motivate Bruce to try to return to Gotham before Bane destroys his city. The jump provides an opportunity to make the metaphorical rebirth my tarot reading had alluded to. According to The Wild Wood Tarot, the Eight of Vessels represents an opportunity for “looking at the past, acknowledging [a hero’s] mistakes and learning from them, [to] grow and attain new wisdom”(137). This is exactly what Bruce does. During the time in the pit he stops doubting himself and improves his physique, so he is both mentally and physically prepared for the jump. When he is ready he makes he leap out of the pit and returns to Gotham to attempt to save his city from the nuclear explosive Bane is threatening to
Erickson’s Theory has 8 stages (Schriver, 2011). The following text will give the developmental crisis of each stage and relate it to Shannon’s life personally. In Erikson’s Theory developmental crisis “did not mean an impending catastrophe as much as it meant “a turning point, a crucial period of increased vulnerability and heightened potential”” (Schriver, 2011). The first stage of Erikson’s Psychosocial Stages of Development is Trust vs. mistrust (0-1 year) and its crisis is “in establishing trust” (Schriver, 2011). Shannon had developed trust early on in her life due to the loving, caring, and nurturing home she grew up in. She had a sense of physical comfort which eliminated fear and allowed trust. The second stage is Autonomy vs. shame (1-3 years) and the crisis is “parental restrictions vs. autonomy” (Schriver, 2011). Growing up Shannon started learning to walk at 11 months which is a normal age for children to emerge into that. Due to her parents being supportive, it allowed Shannon to start exploring her curiosities and still be loved while doing so. The third stage is Initiative vs. guilt (3-6 years) and the crisis is “in taking initiative without experiencing guilt” (Schriver, 2011). This again correlates to the supportiveness of Shannon’s parents which allows her to be her own person and encourages her to experience her life in her own way. The fourth stage is Industry vs. inferiority (6-12 years) and the crisis is “in striving for competence” (Schriver, 2011). Shannon had a great group of friends growing up and that gave her the inclusion she needed to feel equal to her peers and not inferior to anyone. The fifth stage is Identity vs. role confusion and the crisis is “uncertainty about the future and the child’s role in it” (Schriver, 2011). At this time in Shannon’s life she had already strengthened her hope (trust), will, purpose, and
...within her household. Within her own household, Alison was uncomfortable of being herself; in fact, at times she felt that she almost had no say in the selecting items such as clothes. This was also quite complex when it came to her subjectivity as well. Instances such as the time Bruce wanted Alison to wear a particular dress to a wedding, or when he insisted for her to were a particular set of pearls, would play a pivotal role in her sexual self development. Other factors such as her relationship with her girlfriend and the news she would find out following her fathers death seemed to also play an important part. Alison Bechdel’s battle in her sexual self-development was one full of anguish and pain because of all of its complexities but she now presents the confidence in herself and her sexuality to present in her eloquent and impactful graphic novel, Fun Home.
Several factors seem to indicate Terry has depression and anxiety. Terry is currently in the industry vs. inferiority stage of development. During this stage of development, children need to cope with new social and academic demands. Success leads to a sense of accomplishment, while failure
In the late 1970’s, in order to feel some sort of a connection to his gender identity Bruce
Bruce Wayne’s origins story for the Batman is filled with great pain fear; his parents had died at the hands of criminals and wished to rid his city of the polluted evil it had become consumed by. He hoped to inspire the people of Gotham to stand up these criminals, but that truly wasn’t enough, he had to become more than just a man to inspire. The Batman was created to become an incorruptible and eternal symbol to bring about a change in Gotham.
Transgendered people have a different and unique fight than the rest of the community. Transgendered peoples not only have the issues of “coming out,” (as others in the communities do) but also becoming a different gender. There are different obstacles that Trans people have to face.
In Erickson’s psychosocial development theory this was developed way after Piaget but he has eight different stages in development in a person life. Basically these stage help us understand how children deal with different thing these stages help determine the outcome for the child. Im going to give overview of the different stages. One stage is trust vs mistrust this happen to children that are under one, this is stage where kids are so depended on the
Transgender individuals shouldn’t be subjected to abuse, slander and danger when using a public restroom in any of the Unites States. Yet the U.S. recently made the bold move to make it culturally acceptable to discriminate against transgender individuals and the LGBT community when passing the HB2 Bill in North Carolina by the General Assembly. With the world adjusting to the multiple terms now associated with the gender identity that spans in variations of asexual to queer, the U.S. has regressed by taking action to remove the Civil Rights of its citizens that identify within these terms. This bill does much more than just reverse civil rights and weaken discrimination regulation. The argument that a non-transgender person feels uncomfortable with a transgender person using the same bathroom is the same argument that once made people of color using public bathrooms and water fountains to be segregated. It’s a lack of understanding at best, and results
However, it has not been until the past century that transgender individuals have been able to act upon their feelings and work toward changing to their preferred sex. They can now seek medical interventions through hormone replacement pills and/or sex reassignment surgery to fulfill their needs and happiness. Transgender individuals who undergo a sex change are sometimes referred to as transsexuals but these terms are often interchanged in articles and society. A very current and well publicized example of this is Bruce Jenner, a men’s decathlon Olympian winner, who recently underwent a sex reassignment surgery and is now known as Caitlyn Jenner. She states that her “brain is much more female than male” (Sieczkowski, 2015). She has flourished with her new identity and now has her own reality TV show to share her experiences and life with the world. Bruce Jenner’s coming out with his identity issue and him changing into a woman has opened doors for many people dealing with gender identity problems. But the harsh reality is that not everyone has the transition as easy as her. There are many controversies and prejudices that go along with transgenderism and transsexualism. Religious people believe that a transgender is going against what God had
