On a Monday afternoon, A couple of friends and I drove about forty-five minutes to El Dorado to see a movie. A movie in which we didn’t know anything about. None of us had even seen the trailer. I sent my friend a link to the movies that were showing at the cinema in El Dorado, and she had chosen Deepwater Horizon solely on the fact she liked the actors that had been cast for the movie. A few of these actors included Mark Wahlberg and Kate Hudson. Deepwater Horizon, as I came to find out on the car ride there, is about the most devastating oil spill in United States history. Since this event occurred only roughly six years ago, I recognized it after my friend called it the BP oil spill. Growing up in south Arkansas, I know many people that work on oil rigs so the spill was something that came close to home. The movie portrays the events leading up to the rig explosion and the aftermath concerning the people aboard the rig.
When we first got to the movie theater, it was around 4:20 in the afternoon. The movie didn’t start until 4:45 so we sat in the car for a few minutes. I noticed that were only a few other cars in the parking lot. When we walked up to the ticket booth there was a sign saying to buy our tickets at the concession stand so we proceeded to go inside. The lobby featured a game room to your right as you enter and a large concession stand. The tickets were at matinee price which is seven dollars. This is only two dollars cheaper than the regular price for admission. I decided not to buy any snacks due to being familiar with the cinema’s prices. One of my friends spent around twenty dollars on popcorn, a drink , and her ticket. There is a “manager special” at the theater that includes two large drinks...

...ce. The same effect could have been given without the flickering going on for minutes at a time. I know that my friends also had to look away at this point in the movie because of the flickering lights. I also do not think that the captions explaining certain points in time, and the status of the rig were on the screen long enough for the audience to really comprehend what it meant. Other than these few things, I really enjoyed the movie and the overall experience. It was nice to get out of Magnolia for a couple hours and go watch a film.
Overall, I really enjoyed Deepwater Horizon. I also believe that Stars Cinema 6 was a good choice to go to the film at. Besides the concession stand prices being ridiculously overpriced, the atmosphere was pleasant. Also, the theater is only about forty-five minutes away so it was very convenient considering we went on a Monday.
On the Waterfront directed by Elia Kazan about a man that once felt he owed something to the mob and now he wants to control his life. This film is a classic mobster movie that is well known for the filming techniques used whilst shooting. The method acting, the lighting, and the camera angles establish the plot.
I think the performance delivered the message and intent perfect. I was not once confused, but it is that which starts out some what at the end and uses flashbacks to tell the full story.

Media outlets demanded answers from BP concerning what caused the disaster that started April 10, 2010. It became one of the worst environmental spills in U.S. history. Instead of owning up to the problem and taking responsibility, the company went on an offensive-blame-fueled binge that left those affected by the events horrified and angry. (Houpe, 2010)

In the Documentary “Flow – for the love of water” it visualizes the global crisis we face on Mother’s Earth as it pertains to the diminishing of fresh water. The Documentary portrays along with the help of experts that this global crises is affecting each and every one of us in today’s society including animals. The film shows us that water is constantly being wasted, polluted, and privatized by big co operations. Prime examples of these greedy companies were mentioned in the film such as Nestle, Thames, Suez, Vivendi, Coca Cola and Pepsi.
On April 20, 2010, BP’S deep water horizon drill exploded in Gulf of Mexico and this oil spill killed 11 innocent workers and caused severe damage to the environment. “It was the worst environmental disaster in US history and BP lost his reputation worldwide”. The oil spill created negative attention from media and public. BP’s “Gulf of Mexico Restoration” website uses these three strategies to try to repair its reputation: pictures of its new employees to show its dedication to creating more jobs and ensuring the safety in the company, images of emergency services and clean-up programs to show its quick responses and efforts to prevent more damages, and clear language about its legal proceedings and investigations to show its commitment to the affected people and environment.
On Saturday July 29th, 2017, I was able to catch one of the funniest movies I’ve seen in a while, Girls Trip. I was able to view the movie with four of three of friends of mines at the Regal Moorestown Mall Stadium 12 & RPX, located in Moorestown, New Jersey. My experience started with the aromas of popcorn. I am one of those type who has to have popcorn with lots of butter while enjoying a movie. After I purchased my popcorn and bottled water I was ready to enjoy this night with my friends. However, I wasn’t the one who purchased the tickets so the seats choices where horrible. They were floor level, on the very far right and third row. Still trying to make the best out of it I reclined my see as far back as possible so my neck would bother me the during the movie. The theater was packed, mostly with women.
Night Of The Living Dead a film that was in my opinion the first of its kind. It didn’t have the biggest budget when they filmed it. Yet a film I would watch again and again. The 1968 original film is a classic I really enjoyed. It didn’t have the most famous actors and actresses or the greatest acting in that case. It didn’t even have great film quality, yet I was glued to the film from the first minute to the last. I saw it as a change of scenery from the films we see today, and if you’re someone who likes black and white films you’re going to love this one.
Final thoughts, I really liked this film and really can't think of anything I had an issue with. The musics fitting, the cinematography is good and the ending is great. That said the whole time I was watching Re-Animator I kept thinking of how much this film feels like Return of the Living Dead and that made me just want to watch that instead. But that's just me and I still heavily recommend you watch this film should you find yourself with time to watch a true cult classic.
Jaws is a really movie about a lot of suspense. The reason I think that Jaws is a really good movie about building suspense is because of three main things. One of the things that has a lot of suspense is Sound. When Jaws, well the shark is under water and is about to attack something or someone the music starts getting loud. Another thing that is really good about building suspense is the Camera Angle. The reason I think the camera angle is good about building suspense is when the camera is on the boat and it's going with the waves it feels like you're really there. The last thing that really draws my attention in the movie that builds suspense is the picture. The reason that the this really draws my attention is because in the film when something bad or a big part of the movie is about to happen the lighting in the movie also makes it feel like you are really there are have a part of what's actually going on.
On April 20, 2010, the Deepwater Horizon oil rig, located in the Gulf of Mexico exploded killing 11 workers and injuring 17. The oil rig sank a day-and-a-half later. The spill was referred to as the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, BP oil spill, Gulf of Mexico oil spill, and BP oil disaster. It was first said that little oil had actually leaked into the ocean but a little over a month later the estimate was 12,000-19,000 barrels of crude oil being leaked per day. Many attempts were made to stop the leak but all failed until they capped the leak on July 15, 2010, and on September 19 the federal government declared the well “effectively dead.” In the three months that it took to finally put a stop the leak, 4.9 million barrels of oil were released into the ocean. The spill caused considerable damage to marine and wildlife habitats and the Gulf’s fishing and tourism industries. The White House energy advisor, Carol Browner, goes as far to say that the Deepwater oil spill is the “worst environmental disaster the US has faced.”
Deepwater Horizon was also based off of a true story about an oil rig explosion that caused the worst oil spill in U.S. history. The major characters are all people in real life that were involved in the intense explosion. Mark Wahlberg plays the main character, Mike Williams. Wahlberg is an actor Berg loves to work with; together they have also done Lone Survivor and Patriot’s Day. Deepwater Horizon follows the pressure that the BP Oil Company management puts on their intelligent workers for sake of money. The movie appropriately shows the process that occurred within the pipelines that led to the engine explosion and the injuries that many of the workers suffered. In the end, 11 people sacrificed their lives to stop the oil spill from growing
On the summer of 2010, the petroleum industry was shaken by one of the largest disasters in history known as the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill. This resulted in the killing of eleven people, injuring of seventeen and an immeasurable damage to the ocean and the surrounding communities. BP had to immediately respond to the crisis and handle their financial and reputational risks.
Interstellar, directed by Christopher Nolan, was a very complex and interesting sci-fi movie. This movie in particular has a lot of factors playing into the movie. Everyone is able to find their favorite part about the movie, and various people can watch this movie and connect with it. This movie came out in 2014, and shocked millions of people by its intense ending. Interstellar was awarded for best visual effects, and then nominated for many other things including, best original score, best sound mixing, and best sound effects which played a huge role in making the movie. His lawyer argued that "it's hard to justify prices that are three and four times higher than anywhere else" (16). Why would you or somebody else, want to spend eight dollars on candy and food at the movies when you can go to the store for the same snack for three dollars?
