Frozen is a masterpiece about two sisters who suffer a broken relationship. Frozen premiered on 27 November 2013, and melted the hearts of its audience. Directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, Frozen displays a relationship between two sisters which is strained due to a secret that should not be revealed. The eldest sister Elsa (Idina Menzel), discovers her powers to freeze anything that is touched. Anna (Kristen Bell) is trying to remain in the public eye, while Elsa wants to shield her powers from everyone, including her own sister. Elsa then flees from Arendelle, after causing a scene at a ball after being coronated. Anna then goes on a quest to find Elsa and bring her back to Arendelle to unfreeze the land. Frozen is a spectacular film due to its incredible storyline, popular music, and the amount of humor. Frozen, like …show more content…
The main source of laughter in Frozen is Olaf. Olaf is a confused snowman who absolutely craves the warmth that comes in summer. Olaf even sings a song titled “In Summer”, and has no idea that snow melts when the temperature rises. Olaf plays with the concept of irony quite well and provides a source of laughter. Kristoff’s reindeer Sven, is also a source of laughter in Frozen, because Sven is Kristoff’s best friend and the duo also sing a song titled “Reindeer Are Better than People”. Such song would commonly be sang by someone who is under the influence of alcohol as the lyrics are just full of witty remarks between a man and his reindeer. Frozen can be seen as a comedy with Olaf and Sven, without the two the film would just be another princess movie. All in all, Frozen is a spectacle that should be enjoyed by everyone. Frozen features a phenomenal storyline, musical success, and humorous elements that make the audience fall to the floor in laughter. In the film, “North by Northwest” we see a series of shots that creates suspense and danger. The point of the film is very vague and it ends without a resolution to the main conflict. The incredible camera work and techniques that Alfred Hitchcock did created a feeling of danger and suspense, making the audience want to see more. Also, Hitchcock's film main character Roger O. Thornhill creates suspense with his mistaken identity and fight for his escape. The film uses a handful of shots, for example, medium shots, close ups, long shots and shot-reverse-shots. I found particularly interesting how a handful of shots can create suspense and the feeling of danger can create a misleading plot.
The theatrical film The Lion In Winter stars Peter O’Toole as King Henry II, and Katharine Hepburn as his wife, Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine. Adapted from his stage play of the same title, author James Goldman provides a fictional, but plausible, account of intra-family deceit and political conniving within the large and powerful Angevin Empire, which spanned much of the land that is now Britain, and much of what is now Northeastern France, within the medieval world. Directed and edited by Anthony Harvey, the story, set in the winter of 1183, details the succession crisis faced by the aging King Henry II, as his three surviving sons vie for the crown, and Queen Eleanor plots, both with and against them, to regain her freedom, and become the power behind the throne occupied by her choice of successor. King Philip of France patiently waits, seeking political advantage within the internal fracturing, for the opportunity to destroy the Kingdom that Henry II has worked a lifetime to build.
The snow creates a perfectly eerie atmosphere of dark cold and despair, and the monsters, when they get to shine, are fascinating. KRAMPUS shows up about 25 minutes in, and his first showing is wonderfully executed with his tall and foreboding presence making a large impact. None of it is really frightful though, just kind of creepy. The parts that should be fearsome are more intense, but they are well constructed and by the end the endless bombardment of creatures and horror is undoubtedly effective. Director Michael Dougherty seems to be working with the same tools that Sam Raimi might have in his early career in making ultimately goofy things terrifying, but he only partly succeeds in actually scaring the audience.
Of course, this could be justified by the target audience, as it is a Disney princess film after all. However, this relationship between two sisters is special enough to be analysed. Indeed, female friendship is often depicted as conflictive, in films such as Bride Wars for instance, whereas male friendship is made more valuable, as seen in most Seth Rodgen films. Here, the feminine solidarity is the core of the plot in Frozen, which motivates each protagonist’s designs and solves central issues of the
The film, Out in the Night documents a 2006 case in which a group of young African American lesbians were accused of gang assault and attempted murder. The film portrays how unconscious bias, institutional discrimination and racism contributed to the convictions of seven African American lesbian women. Three of the women pleaded guilty to avoid going to trial, but four did not. Renata Hill, Patreese Johnson, Venice Brown, and Terrain Dandridge maintained their innocence and each were charged with several years in prison. I cried through out the documentary because it dawned on me that it’s not safe for women, especially gay women of color. The four-minute incident occurred in Greenwich Village where Dwayne Buckle sexually and physically harassed
Sex, love, depression, guilt, trust, all are topics presented in this remarkably well written and performed drama. The Flick, a 2014 Pulitzer Prize winning drama by Annie Baker, serves to provide a social commentary which will leave the audience deep in thought well after the curtain closes. Emporia State Universities Production of this masterpiece was a masterpiece in itself, from the stunningly genuine portrayal of the characters of Avery and Rose, to the realism found within the set, every aspect of the production was superb.
In the documentary “Fed Up,” sugar is responsible for Americas rising obesity rate, which is happening even with the great stress that is set on exercise and portion control for those who are overweight. Fed Up is a film directed by Stephanie Soechtig, with Executive Producers Katie Couric and Laurie David. The filmmaker’s intent is mainly to inform people of the dangers of too much sugar, but it also talks about the fat’s in our diets and the food corporation shadiness. The filmmaker wants to educate the country on the effects of a poor diet and to open eyes to the obesity catastrophe in the United States. The main debate used is that sugar is the direct matter of obesity. Overall, I don’t believe the filmmaker’s debate was successful.

Horney’s theory focuses on neurosis and the ideal self of the individual. Her theory plays an important role in the development of an individuals personality and can be applied to the film Precious directed by Lee Daniels. The role of the mother plays a significant role in Precious’ personality development and will be discussed further in the essay with regard to Horney and the following aspects of; social and cultural conditions, basic anxiety and basic evil, neurotic needs, coping strategies and the ideal self vs the despised self.
It is her showing how she is free and can be her true self, without the fear of others and the fear of hurting others. Throughout the song Elsa is becoming her true self and building her ice castle and showing how powerful she is and what she can do. The next song that we see is, In summer, this song is sung by Olaf. This song shows how happy and cheerful he is. Olaf, even though he is a snowman, loves summer and wants to be a part of helping in any way. He brings along his joyfulness and humor. All of these songs help to show the message of love and happiness throughout the
