The 2019 Ferrari 488 Pista Geneva has always been a special place for Ferrari as it is the automaker’s favorite place to debut its new supercars. This year’s Geneva Auto Show is not any different as the automaker has taken to the show to debut its new race-car inspired street-legal beast dubbed the “Ferrari 488 Pista”. “Pista” means “track’’ in Italian. Although it is street-legal, you will definitely find most buyers of the Pista out on the tracks as that is where one can really get the most out of the model. It is based on the 488 GTB but it also borrows a lot from the 488 Challenge car and the 488 GTE. The upper section of the rear fascia is sculpted to enhance airflow above and through the spoiler. The rear diffuser is much larger than on the GTB; in fact, it occupies almost half of the rear. The 488 Pista has large vertical fins that stretch much deeper under the car’s body like the case in race-spec cars. The rear end also has two enormous vents. The normal glass-lid engine hood found on the GTB is retained without any changes. Interior The Pista has a black interior styling and red accenting on the dash, center console and seats. Another major change was in 1990 when the ZR-1 was made with 375 horsepower and a LTS5 engine under its hood. To help the appearance of the ZR-1 stand out from the standard corvette coupes, it was given all new convex rear fascia and quad rectangular taillights. All of the new corvettes were made with a new cockpit design that included digital readouts and analog gauges plus a driver’s personal air bag. Due to the redesigning of the corvette, the horsepower of the standard L98 engine was increased to 250. Shortly after this change, it under went a styling refinement that included a wrap-around ...

Being the leaders in custom Polaris RZR builds it was a no brainer that at some point UTVUnderground.com and SDR would collaborate at some point in time. Once in the hands of SDR our machine was transformed into total head turning functionality and style. SDR took on the challenge of not only fabricating but also assembling the new machine, while we set out to gather all the parts and accessories we wanted to include in the build. Beginning with the most important accessories that would benefit us on those long pre-run adventures; Lights, Navigation, Communications, Wheels, and Tires topped that list with us reaching out to some the industries best companies. Working with SDR we came up with a custom color scheme that retained the factory flat back base color and created a never seen before “flat / anodized candy blue” color for the cage that in some light seems more like a metallic purple. Then we officially dubbed this build the “Black Mamba”!
In 1960, the American car landscape itself had expanded as Detroit began offering “compacts” alongside their full-size models. Many drivers, however, were looking for something in between these full size and compact model; this interest gave way to a new class, the intermediate. With many innovations between 1960 and 1964, like the 406 cubic inch V8 from Ford, the 389 from General Motors, and the wedge V8s from Chrysler, the golden age of muscle cars began in 1964. The Pontiac Tempest G...

The average driver doesn’t think about what keeps their car moving or what keeps them on the road, but that’s because they don’t have to. The average driver doesn’t have to worry about having enough downforce to keep them on the road or if they will reach the adhesive limit of their car’s tires around a turn. These are the things are the car designers, professional drivers, racing pit crews, serious sports car owners, and physicist think about. Physics are an important part of every sports and racing car design. The stylish curves and ground effects on sports cars are usually there not just for form but function as well allowing you to go speeds over 140 mph in most serious sports cars and remain on the road and in reasonable control.
I think that the target audience for these cars is the same. these cars are family cars. Both of the cars are designed to be comfortable and safe, they are not advertised to be fast sports cars. or stylish city cars; they are advertised as normal cars. In both of the adverts there is no real reference towards the performance of the car apart from in the Chrysler where there is a reference to the fuel.
This paper is a look at the physics behind car racing. We look look at how we can use physics to select tires, how physics can help predict how much traction we will have, how physics helps modern cars get there extreme speed, how physics lets us predict the power of an engine, and how physics can even help the driver find the quickest way around the track.
The trend in vehicles has moved towards larger sedans and SUV's, and the ones who are purchasing smaller vehicles are looking for cars more sporty than the models Saturn offers.
It all started in 1979. Mazda, a relatively small player in the world automobile market in the automobile market at that time, wanted a string international partner in order to make the transformation from being a small niche player to becoming a major global automaker. At the same time Ford was also looking for a partner to help it design and produce smaller automobiles. The two firms agreed that they were logical partners.
Even when cars capable of these speeds are put into the hands of world-class drivers such as Ferrari’s Michael Shumacher and McLaren’s Mika Hakkinen, mishaps are bound to occur. This is what makes this sport so exciting to watch. Crashes however, are not the only exciting events of the race. It is thrilling to watch a car out brake another in order to squeeze its way ahead, or to watch the cars bump tires in an effort to occupy the same piece of race track to be set up correctly for the turn ahead. Other points of interest are the pit stops and the strategies that the various teams use in order to make a fast pit stop.
