In the text “The color of my words”First the young lady was very shy and not outgoing, she did not believe in her dreams, but then as she got older i guess it grew out of her she became a strong young lady who started to follow her dreams and live them. She always had a dream about becoming a writer and she wanted to write about living in the Dominican republic but in her country, only the president was allowed to write. In the text she states “I already knew what I wanted to do in my future” following along with this she says she wants to be a writer that will have a story or words to go with everything. Ana Rosa is a very smart and brave young lady because not everybody is able to follow their dreams but no matter what she went on with life
and she wanted to follow her dream which was to become a writer. She has so much inspiration to achieve her goals she watches her brother look for his future he wants to learn how to dance as, she tries to make becoming a writer happen at a such young age. Ana rosa family i a little poor but that doesn't stop her they lives in the Dominican republic she has a wonderful power of how she uses her words she wants to put her words for a better use and use them to become a writer. Ana’s not so sure if this will happen because as stated in the text “in the Dominican Republic only the president is allowed to write” so she was unsure if her dream was going to be achieved. Whenever he wanted to write on anything so she would find like little tiny scrapes and find papers to write on them for her writing could get better.
The verbose use of imagery in this poem is really what makes everything flow in this poem. As this poem is written in open form, the imagery of this writing is what makes this poem poetic and stand out to you. Porque ellas es la unica perspectiva que tenemos es sencillo a sentar compasion para una protagonista de quien nombre no aun sabemos. Ella da la descripcion de toda que vea, y mas importante todo que se sienta. Tambien tropos y figuras retoricas dan un tono significante al poema. Estos sentimientos de la portagonista y el tono emocional de la narrativa transporta una tema de una mujer estereotipical y debil quien quiere ser reconocido.
In Julia Alvarez’s short story “Daughter of Invention” the speaker needed to read and Write to save her life. In this character’s case, she needed to read and write to save her social life. In as an immigrant who moved from the Dominican Republic to the United States, she needs to become part of the culture of the country. Learning English and be able to speak the language well is important to being accepted into the culture. She described United States culture as hostile and “took root in the language” to help merge herself with the culture (). The novel Dreaming in Cuban, written by Cristina Garcia, is a novel following the lives of a Cuban family during La Revolución Cubana. Garcia develops her story in great detail, particularly through the struggles this family faces and how each of them attempts to find their own identity. Although the novel has many characters, Cristina Garcia primarily develops the story through the eyes of Pilar Puente. Even though she is one of the youngest characters, Pilar endures a plethora of struggles with her life and her identity. Her mother, Lourdes Puente, moved the family away to New York in order to shield Pilar from what Lourdes deemed to be an unfavorable past in Cuba. The main source of Pilar’s frustration is her internal conflict between her Cuban heritage and her American identity. This struggle stems from the relationship with her grandmother, Celia del Pino, contrasting with her life in America. Along with her struggle with her Cuban heritage, Pilar Puente has many experiences that shape her self-identity throughout the novel Dreaming in Cuban.

“Here” by Sandra Maria Esteves. A poem that talked about her identities and what she is feeling with her identities. Esteves mentioned that she has two different identities “I am two parts/ a person Boricua/ spic” (Esteves 362), she state that she is Boricua and Spic which means that she is from Puerto Rico and Hispanic too. Also she talked about her “past and present” (Esteves 362) which can be interpret like she identifies herself in the same way in her past andher present. The final two lines in the first stanza can summarized her cultural problem “Given a cultural beauty... And robbed of a cultural identity” (Esteves 362), when she says she was “given a cultural beauty” she can be talking about her Hispanic blood, the way she look, but she also mentioned that was “robbed of a cultural identity” which she means that they take her identity away.
When they first arrived to the United States their only hopes were that they would have a better life and that there were better special education programs for Maribel to attend at Evers. I tried out for color guard in March of 2016. My experience with joining color guard has been one of the best decisions that I have made so far in my life. Not only has it changed me as a person, it has changed the way I look at situations. It sounds weird that an activity could change so much in my life, but it truly has. And it has made me a better person because of it.
Sandra Cisneros is a very famous writer, she is well known for her work. Cisneros is a Latin American writer who was born to Hispanic parents. Her novel Straw into Gold revolves around the struggles she as a Latin American had to go through. She talks about the stereotypes, and poverty she and her family went through “I think mama and papa did the best they could to keep us warm and never hungry” (Cisneros, 387). The story creates an atmosphere of understanding and inspiration. Which can make young people feel inspired and motivated by Cisneros acts, she was brave enough to break culture boundaries which can inspire and motivate others to do the same.
