Lesson Description
The class started with “Traffic Light” as warming up exercise, followed by “Bomb and Shield”, “Catch the moment” and “Stage direction”, and ended with the presentations on William Shakespeare’s Life Brief Candle. The activities that impressed me the most are:
1. Bomb and Shield: In this activity, we assigned someone in our group as “bomb(s)” and “shield” without telling the persons. When the game started, we would have to avoid the “bomb(s)” and stick to the “shield”.
2. Catch the moment: It was a free-style activity that we walked around doing all kinds of actions. When Ms. Pat whistled, we would have to stop in the midst of our actions. The activity then carried out in pairs,

Also, I have learnt to relax to balance when I were to do a live statue. I realized that I am not open enough to express my actions as adventurous as others’. In “stage direction”, I have learnt the right directions for an actor on stage. I also learnt the different kinds of pattern to go off-stage. When I was doing the presentation of Life Brief Candle, I feel comfortable in expressing emotion but not in action. To be honest, I thought I have eye-contact with the audience. In fact, I was looking at a middle point between Ms. Pat and the audience. Through the presentations, I learnt about my ability and weaknesses. As comments from Ms. Pat, I have good internalization with the story, yet I am not good in expressing my actions (I was blocking my actions) and eye-contact with the audience. Also, I would need to improve my English …show more content…
Somehow, maybe due to my previous experience, I was comfortable in expressing emotions but not actions. Action is a really a weakness to me. Hence, I think I would really need to work on it. For my weakness in eye-contact, I think it might be caused by my experience too because my primary school teachers used to teach me to look at somewhere else other than the audience to prevent nervousness. However, this doesn’t work in acting. I agree with Ms. Pat point of view, a performance would be better if the performer looks directly into the audience eyes. Next, I specifically like the “Catch the Moment” activity in this class as it gave me a different kinds of experience. Although it was tiring, I like when a story was formed subconsciously through the actions. Thank you Ms. Pat for her comment. Thank you the class for the fun in this class. Thank you for everything. Thank you, thank you and thank
William Shakespeare, an illustrious and eminent playwright from the Elizabethan Age (16th Century) and part owner of the Globe theatre wrote A Midsummer Night’s Dream in which he portrays the theme of love in many different ways. These include the paternal love seen in the troubled times for Egeus and his rebellious daughter Hermia, true Love displayed with the valiant acts of Lysander and Hermia and the destructive love present in the agonizing acts of Titania towards her desperate lover Oberon. Through the highs and lows of love, the first love we clasp is the paternal love from our family.
During my Duke of Edinburgh expedition I succeeded in communicating well with people that I did not previously know and was able to motivate others under time pressures to be able to get back to the camp before dark. I am a very hard worker and always like to help others. Although I believe I am very independent, I also flourish when working with a team. During my work experience at Concord Youth Centre I worked well in a team and led a group of youths from the community to prepare and present a presentation about community cohesion. Before the presentation I first had to advise and present my knowledge to the young people. My presentation and public speaking skills, as well as my confidence, has grown and developed during my time at sixth form. I am a very confident speaker as further shown through my participation in a Conference against FGM (Female Genital Mutilation) at which I read and presented a poem. I also love acting because it allows me to express myself and present important messages to lots of people and express my feelings through
Analysis of A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare. A Midsummer Nights Dream is a play by William Shakespeare, and I. believe is mainly summed up by this line from the play. The course of true love never ran smooth. This is basically saying that being in love comes with many obstacles.
Performing or public speaking of any kind is difficult, but that difficulty can help to build confidence. Fine arts gives students the ability to perform and build confidence with their own support team of people who do and love the same thing. Not having to perform alone and knowing that everything possible has been done to ensure a good performance helps performers be confident in themselves and in their abilities. “Puneet Jacob, former choristers and current assistant conductor, says kids are often afraid to perform because of fear of failure.” (Lefebvre) The more a person faces their fear, especially when they do well and the fear is disproved, the less afraid he or she will become. When students work on music or a play for months on end, they become much more confident in themselves and what they can do than they were when they first began.
All of the above elements are strengthened through dramatic skills such as drama, dance and physical education. These dramatic skills lead students to utilize physical movement in an artistic manner to increase their ability to be quick thinkers, problem solvers, memorization skills, self-discipline, task sequencing, and persistence. (Jensen, pg. 81). The kinesthetic arts teach students to be more at ease with who they are
The teacher will evaluate the students’ comprehension of the lesson through the participation of the students in the class discussion, the quality of student responses to the paired translation exercise, and from the homework of the remaining passages to translate which were not discussed in class.

William Shakespeare, the myth, the man, the legend. Shakespeare was born April 23rd, 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon. Shakespeare lived a favorable life during the Elizabeth era. The main problem was me that I was kind of nervous so I forgot to introduce my thesis. I also learned that I need to speak louder from the video, instructor and my peers comment. Because of low volume, my audiences and instructor hardly heard my voice which can make them curious of what I’m saying. Also, when I speak, I was kind of hesitating to speak which is very distracting the audience. Some of my audience may understand that English is my second language but when my audience want to learned about the problem and the solution, the audience may find that my speaking is very hard to understand when I hardly articulate the words. As I saw on the video, I was staring a lot on the note card than the audience which I lost the attention from the audience. As I mentioned on the previous reflection about the importance of eye contact, I just lost on this speech. I will learned from the mistake that I done during this semester in this speech class and try to use the good thing that I done and keep
We introduce this to the students, to show how important their body language communicates to the people outside themselves. We do this through acting out scenes, which also provides students a tiny introduction to the work they will be doing in their Improv class. Which is a required class for the students to take because through improv and theater exploration, students become aware of their surroundings and become more present in their everyday life. The habits of excellence are self and community awareness, engagement in thinking and learning, responsibility, and time management. These are all habits the school wants to embed into student to work upon in the classroom and in their everyday life.
William Shakespeare, born in 1594, is one of the greatest writers in literature. He dies in 1616 after completing many sonnets and plays. One of which is "A Midsummer Night’s Dream." They say that this play is the most purely romantic of Shakespeare’s comedies. The themes of the play are dreams and reality, love and magic. This extraordinary play is a play-with-in-a-play, which master writers only write successfully. Shakespeare proves here to be a master writer. Critics find it a task to explain the intricateness of the play, audiences find it very pleasing to read and watch. "A Midsummer Night’s Dream" is a comedy combining elements of love, fairies, magic, and dreams. This play is a comedy about five couples who suffer through love’s strange games and the evil behind the devious tricks. This play begins as Theseus, the Duke, is preparing to marry Hippolyta. He woos her with his sword. Hermia is in love with Lysander. Egeus, Hermia’s father, forbids the relationship with Lysander and orders her to marry Demetrius. Demetrius loves Hermia, but she does not love him. On the other hand, Helena is in love with Demetrius. To settle the confusion, Theseus decides that Hermia must marry Demetrius or become a nun. In retaliation to her father’s command, Hermia and Lysander run away together. Amidst all the problems in the human world, Titania and Oberon, the fairy queen and king, continually argue about their various relationships that they have taken part in. (Scott 336) Titania leaves Oberon as a result of the arguments. Oberon is hurt and wants revenge on Titania. So he tells Puck, Oberon’s servant, to put a magic flower juice on her eyelids while she is sleeping. This potion causes the victim to desperately in love with the first creature that they see. Oberon’s plan is carried out, but the potion is also placed on Lysander’s eyes. Lysander awakes to see Helena, who is aimlessly walking through the woods, and instantly falls in love with her. She thinks that he is making fun of her being in love with Demetrius, so she leaves and Lysander follows. This leaves Hermia to wake up alone. Puck now has journeyed to the area where several actors are rehearsing. He uses his magic to turn one of them into a donkey, in hopes that Titania will awake to see it.
