“To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.” - Prefontaine I live by this quote on my personal life because it's inspiring. The overall meaning is if you have a gift or chance don't sacrifice it and act on it. Don’t ruin your chance and just do it. I try to live by that to always try my best on whatever I do to get the best grades and acquire the most knowledge. Over Junior has been my best year yet. I got out of my comfort zone by doing different thing and tried to be more out there. I believe I did, I joined Various clubs involving me into the overall community of Godinez. Clubs such as Red Cross, CSF, Key club and very recently ASB. Set back I believe would be more in sports because although I did perform I wasn’t …show more content…
It made me a better person because as captain I had to accommodate everyone's request to try to come up with the best workouts. When the coaching staff was not there I had to get everyone together and organize then into what we were going to do. For example, since our Track coach had worked during modified days I had to take charge of both the guys and girls team and organize them until the coach came in. However, an area I believe I need a lot more improvement is a responsibility to education because in a way I gave up the second semester. I felt like i was way to overwhelmed with AP testing that after I procrastinate on my homework. It got to a point where I have a lot of missing and late work. As you can see I need a lot more improvement and am starting to again, I turning in my later work. An ESLR that I believe I have mastered is the characteristic of Critical and Creative Thinker appreciate originality and aesthetics in all the project that I have done. For instance, I once spent all night redoing a Scholar In Me Project because I thought the previous one was not as nice as it could be and I created a pretty impressive project. I created an apple tree with the apples being the research that i had done and a cropped picture of my face in Isaac Newton face, in the end I was pretty satisfied with my work. On the contrary, a …show more content…
This simile state how important it is research is to college it's the only thing keeping it together. It is true, research and good research skills as greatly needed as a backbone is to your body. Meaning that yes, if i am not pretty much a pro in researching I will suffer slot during college. Another rhetorical device I used greatly during this essay was encoders such as in paragraph 3 and 4. They were mostly anecdotes of the areas I could improve on from my junior year. There purpose was to make this reflective essay by actually stating stories of where the information was relatable. For paragraph 5 in the second sentence I had used both ploysidenten and Irony because I stated that i believed that I was really mature yet, go on just repeating the conjunction “and” over and over again. Which is usually a characteristic of someone that is mature. The rhetorical devices were to present that fact that yes, I feel that I have matured, but I still need room for improvement. Like i have stated before, yes I was on top of my work, but as soon as second semester rolled on by I just lost focus and began to stalk
There are many inspiring quotes in, "I Beat the Odds" by Michael Oher, but one especially stood out to me. In the beginning of the book, Michael discuss his life in Hurt Village and describes how hard his life was he says, "The odds are stacked against you, but you can't let that be an excuse, you have too much to promise to let the odds beat you. It can be done. I beat the odds"(13). This quote made it really clear to me that I shouldn't let someone break me apart or tell me what I can and cannot do because of how I might look, this quote tells me that I can do anything I set my mind into doing. I will also apply this to my life by not making excuses if I can't do something, I will use this knowledge by doing anything that is a challenge,

Jen Welter is one other lady who made it a goal to live her life by this quote. Welter is the first female coach of the NFL, coaching for the Arizona Cardinals. When asked what this quote meant to her, Jen said, “Follow your heart and create your own path in life. Your life is your own, so live it.” Jen Welter is an advocate for chasing your dreams. Achieving success didn’t come easily, though. When asked what were some of the things she struggled with most when getting to where she is now, Welter said, “It is always challenging when you are choosing your own path and it’s a non-traditional one. I was often told what I couldn’t do in life, so I just had to persevere and have faith.” The one thing she always did was believe in herself and her own talents. Jennifer Welter is a very good example for a
In all, I feel that the author’s message was to prepare the reader being the college freshman on the journey to becoming a college student. The author wants the reader to know not to lose what they have learned before making the journey of becoming a college student. I believe that if you stick to what you have learned prior to becoming a college student, and know that this is a journey where you will find success, in not losing who you are you will graduate and will have fewer worries on the

Taking on so many vital roles have challenged and excited me in countless ways that nothing else ever has. It has allowed me to become both a better leader and collaborator through my efforts to make the club better. My positions on board forced me to constantly put others' needs over mine as well as further my social skills through interactions within and outside the club. My natural inclination to enjoy responsibility and organization has been extremely helpful in being a skilled
“In life you have obstacles in front of you it’s how you overcome those obstacles in life.” I chose this quote because that explains the reason I am here at Tuskegee University. I’m from Miami, FL. I was ranked a two-star, wide receiver by some recruiting websites and a three-star by others. Basically I’m here because of my actions I did without thinking about the consequences of my actions.

There is one main life lesson that I use all the time. And it is, to never be a quitter, because being a quitter is worse than losing. Being a quitter is even worse than being a loser. Cause, who would want to be called a quitter their whole life. I would rather spend extra time trying to get it down and done, then be a quitter. Cause if you quit at one thing, most will quit every time a roadblock is in their way.
The next example of this quote is in academics. In school it is easy for everyone to just take the basic classes and not push themselves, but the people who decide to take the advanced and more challenging classes will grow in intelligence. When people push themselves in school they are making their life in the long run better because when they push themselves they are not masters of the subject but they are growing huge amounts in intelligence which get them into a good college where if they push themselves even more they will graduate and find a job that pays them great money. On the other hand, the people who choose the easy route might make into low level college and barley graduate, but when they begin to look for a job it will become much more difficult then the people who pushed themselves in
The demanding nature of the work has given me an added sense of responsibility but also of pride, fulfilment, and greater appreciation for hard work, ultimately making me more mature and dependable.
