Part One: Social world created by One Direction fans. Every famous musical artist or group always has a following of fans, that following of fans is what keeps these artists popular in the industry. Everyone knows that the more fans an artist has, the more successful they are. When the band One Direction was formed on The X Factor, a reality television music competition, it was the start of something big. Compared to the likes of a modern day ‘Beatlemania’, One Direction have taken the world by storm. And so have their fans. With the formation of this boy band, the fans of One Direction have created their own social group.
One Direction’s fans, coined “Directioners,” follow and support the group, but they do more than just that. The interact with each other and other groups fans to defend the boys. There’s even a wikihow page on “How to be a Directioner.” People want to be a part of this fandom’s social world when they start to become a fan of the group. They want to feel

A symbol is defined as, “anything that carries a particular meaning…” (Brym, 2014, p. 48). Some symbols that are apart of the lives of directioners include carrots, spoons, and the phrase, “No! Jimmy protested.” To people outside the One Direction fandom, these things carry no special meaning, but to directioners, these are symbols that come from the start of One Direction. If you were to ask any directioner what the significance of these things, they would be able to tell you. For example, any regular person would think of a spoon as being just a normal utensil, but for a directioner they can relate it to how member Liam Payne has a fear of spoons. There are many symbols in the One Direction fandom that all directioners know about and these symbols allow the fans to connect with each other and relate these symbols to the group they
Through creating such a distinctive approach to music, Rivers has developed a fan base that stands out from the mainstream crowd. For the most part, a Weezer fan has a distinct look, age, emotional status, and social status. The socially inept, clumsy nerds who sport black-rimmed glasses, and are between the ages of 17-28 are usually put under the category of being a Weezer fan. The main characteristic of th...
Celebrity worship is a term given to those who obsess over one or more celebrity. Jake Halpern's "The Popular Crowd," discusses how loneliness increases the likelihood of someone worshiping celebrities. Worshiping of celebrities is not necessarily bad, it can be helpful for those who have a social need that they need satisfied. However, this worshiping can sometimes lead to stalking and violence towards celebrities. Once this happens celebrities are put in danger. Some celebrities receive phone calls, letters, emails, and more from stalkers. They might not feel like this is a sign of danger, but it is. In order for celebrities to remain safe, they need to be educated about dangers that come with having fans.
A symbol is a person, object, or event that suggests more than its literal meaning. Symbols can be very useful in shedding light on a story, clarifying meaning that can’t be expressed with words. It may be hard to notice symbols at first, but while reflecting on the story or reading it a second time, the symbol is like a key that fits perfectly into a lock. The reason that symbols work so well is that we can associate something with a particular object. For example, a red rose symbolizes love and passion, and if there were red roses in a story we may associate that part of the story with love. Although many symbols can have simple meanings, such as a red rose, many have more complex meanings and require a careful reading to figure out its meaning. The first symbol that I noticed in Ethan Frome is the setting. It plays an important role in this story. The author spends much of the first few chapters describing the scene in a New England town Starkfield. When I think of a town called Starkfield, a gloomy, barren place with nothing that can grow comes to mind. As the author continues to describe this town, it just reinforces what I had originally thought.
If fans don 't do this other fans will start to assume they don 't like One Direction and they wont be considered a fan in their eyes. A fan should also vote for them in every award show they are part of so One Direction could win. This is almost considered a competition in the music world. This shows other fandoms , social media and One Direction , how Directioners are “the best fan base in the world”. They must also stick through every bad scandal that happens in the band. For example, when Zayn , a member of One Direction, left the band, many fans left the community because he was their favorite member of the band and those fans were no longer considered “Directioners”. If they stayed , then they were called a “real
Symbolism can be defined as “the representation of a reality on one level of reference by a corresponding reality on another” (“Symbolism” 564). The word symbol comes from the Greek word "symballein," which translates literally into “to throw together” and suggests the combining of two unrelated worlds. Much...
Symbolism is a major literary device that helps people see a book through symbols that often have a deeper meaning. A symbol is used to explain something in a different way, using images, objects, etc. instead of just saying it in words. As you search for a deeper meaning in a work of art or literature, it can help you understand the authors intentions and the deeper significance of a work. In Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, symbols help reinforce the major themes of the book. Fire and flames have been used as symbols by many authors.
A symbol is a unique term because it can represent almost anything such as people, beliefs, and values. Symbols are like masks that people put on to describe their true self. In To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, the author uses Tom Robinson and Arthur Radley to represent a mockingbird which illustrates the theme of innocence by presenting these characters as two harmless citizens that do not pose a threat to Maycomb.
A symbol is when the author uses an object in the story to represent a greater meaning. The quilt is a symbol of the family heritage that can only be appreciated by certain people. It symbolizes a long line of relatives. As you pick up a quilt and look at it, it has several pieces of cloth that are sowed together. The Grandmother made the quilt by hand, which makes it very special.
...e of the meanings to be determined by the reader, but clearly conveys the meaning behind others. Such variety provides something or someone for any reader to relate to. Symbolism, hidden or obvious, serves to connect the reader with the characters of “The Things They Carried” and follow their development with interest and ease. In many cases, symbols answer the question which the entire story is based upon, why the men carry the things they do.
Symbolism is a symbol of whatever the object or subject is about. Every little object can be used as a symbol of whatever. Like in math, for example shapes and numbers symbolize anything it can be. Also, the American flag, It has fifty stars, representing 50 states. Also, colors may be used as a symbol. Especially in the person, you can see their true color on how they are or act. Like red angry, blue sad, green happy, black dark, purple love, anything represents something. This is most likely your tone of mood. Also, signs outdoors have symbols. Like signs you see on the road, express way, ditches, restaurants, stores, etc. Most likely everywhere, you just got to pay more attention in what is outdoors and what’s around you.
A symbol is an object used to stand for something else. Symbolism has a hidden meaning lying within it; these meanings unite to form a more detailed theme. Symbolism is widely used in The Scarlet Letter to help the reader better understand the deep meanings Nathaniel Hawthorne portrays throughout his novel. He shows that sin, known or unknown to the community, isolates a person from their community and from God. Hawthorne also shows this by symbols in nature around the town, natural symbols in the heavens, and nature in the forest.
Symbolism is used in everyday life. Symbolism is the use of symbols that represent ideas and qualities. For example pink ribbons represent cancer. Another example of symbolism is a horse shoe. It symbolizes good luck in some cases. A four leaf clover also symbolizes good luck.
In the Pop Music world, there is one very specific type of music group that stands out amongst all others. This would be Boy Bands. Boy Bands have always dominated and continue to dominate the pop scene. The reasons for this are multifarious and each deserves adequate explanation. The First reason, of course, is the music itself. It has a drawing power that is significant and individual. The natural hormonal allure of the boys themselves is the second reason. The target demographic for Boy Bands is pre-teen girls, and the band’s marketer appeal to this group expertly; they groom and dress and style the boys in the band to perfection. The final reason is their performances. Boy Bands have a habit of putting on stellar, over-the-top performances. The combination of all these aspects in the perfect way produces the awe-inspiring crowd-drawing money-magnet that is the Boy Band.
Sport fans, sometimes also called sport devotees, followers, or supporters, are persons who are enthusiastically devoted to a particular athlete, team or sport. They may show their enthusiasm by often attending sporting events or watch on television, being members of a fan club, follow sport news through newspapers, online websites, and creating fanzines. Their disposition is often such that they will experience a game or event by living through their favored players or teams. These behaviors manifest itself in different ways. To enable better understanding of these behavioral patterns, we have to classify these sports fans into groups based on their devotion to teams: fair-weather fans, bandwagon and the super-fans.
