Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind is a Japanese animated film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. The film is one of the first Studio Ghibli films to be created and it is actually said to be the movie that started Ghibli 's career (Mirasol). It was originally released in 1984 but the uncut English Version did not appear until 2005 with the help of Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment who then took over the English dubbed versions of Ghibli 's films. The voices for this film included Alison Lanman as Nausicaa, Shia LeBeouf as Asbel, Patric Stewart as Lord Yupa, Uma Thurman as Kushana, and James Arnold Taylor as Mito which proved as a decent cast for this beautifully crafted film. This film was created using traditional animation, hand As time progresses and the introduction of Nausicaa 's kingdom, known as the Valley of the Wind, happens the viewer is able to see that her kingdom is a peaceful one. They work the land for their food and are protected by the wind which keeps the worst of the poisons from the Earth away. And even as the poisons cause diseases for the old the people of the Valley of the Wind understand that this is the way it is meant to be, they know that there is no fighting the toxic jungle because when they do the jungle only spreads and kills more people. They understand that in order to live in this world they have to be in harmony with Earth and fire; land and destruction. Then comes the Tolmekians and they walk the path of destruction. They are one of the largest kingdoms in this world and they are very militaristic. They will fight for what they want and what they really want is to burn down the toxic jungle so that it and all the creatures in it will never harm another human again. They believe that war, violence, and power can solve all their issues which makes them just like the humans that had fallen before them and destroyed the
All of the plants in the nightshade family are nitrogen containing plants, including nicotine. Nitrogen is the second most important supplements for plant growth, below water. Nitrogen can be found in many different forms. It moves around natural ecosystems through the nitrogen cycle. The different forms of nitrogen decide its whether or not it is available to plants or whether it escapes and is no longer able to provide plants. The amount of useable nitrogen and the percent that is lost from the soil affects the supportability of productivity. If it is mishandled it is possible to have economic loss to the producer and have an environmental
War is a hard thing to describe. It has benefits that can only be reaped through its respective means. Means that, while necessary, are harsh and unforgiving. William James, the author of “The Moral Equivalent of War”, speaks only of the benefits to be had and not of the horrors and sacrifices found in the turbulent times of war. James bears the title of a pacifist, but he heralds war as a necessity for society to exist. In the end of his article, James presents a “war against nature” that would, in his opinion, stand in war’s stead in bringing the proper characteristics to our people. However, my stance is that of opposition to James and his views. I believe that war, while beneficial in various ways, is unnecessary and should be avoided at all costs.
In A Land So Strange, however, these motives and objectives were frustrated by Indigenous political, economic, and military power. In Narváez’s second expedition, the explorers discover that the ‘Indians’ were “vigorously exploiting the environment”, “possessed intricate trading networks”, and “waged war on one another […] [like] their European counterparts.” Additionally, although the explorers did not see Apalachee when it was thriving, it was once the “largest and most complex chiefdom of the entire Florida peninsula.” It had an “intricate social hierarchy” and was involved in agriculture which qualified it as a “highly ranked societ[y].” While Narváez and his men desired to ‘civilize’ these ‘savages’, these ancient civilizations were already politically and economically
On March 3, 1915 the movie The Birth of a Nation was released at the Liberty Theatre in New York City. This film was financed, filmed, and released by the Epoch Producing Corporation of D.W. Griffith and Harry T. Aitken. It was one of the first films to ever use deep-focus shots, night photography, and to be explicitly controversial with the derogatory view of blacks.
...of the world, they will act like lords of the world. And, given a story to enact in which the world is a foe to be conquered, they will conquer it like a foe, and one day, inevitably, their foe will lie bleeding to death at their feet, as the world is now." (Quinn, 85) Here Ishmael argues that civilization believes that in order to make the world a better place, one has to conquer it. When a natural disaster happens it is viewed as an attack by nature, as it disrupts the sense of control that mankind has over the planet. When leaver’s view these events are as unfortunate incidents that they need to adapt to in order to survive. What Baraka does for Ishmael is provide real life examples of the taker’s habits of expansion and dominance and the leaver’s desire to live a simple side by side with nature. Thank you for time and I hope you have a great day.
This was a great post because I learned a lot about the Septima Poinsette Clark. I learned that she was an African American educator who was fired as a teacher because of her role to change segregation laws so black students could be taught by black teachers. I learned she developed workshops for reading and writing to help African Americans gain civil rights to vote.
The Florida Keys is one of the most famous and most visited archipelagos in the world. Contrary to what many people think, though, the Florida Keys do not begin at Key Largo. To the north lie nearly 50 more keys (ancient coral reef islands) that are mostly undeveloped pieces of land. Great adventures await you as you venture from the mangrove shoreline out to the coral reefs of Biscayne Bay. Biscayne Bay is a shallow estuary, managed by the National Park Services along with Florida Wildlife Commission and many others. The bay serves as a nursery for many infant and juvenile marine life species that need protection until big enough to survive in the open ocean. Large healthy seagrass beds provide hiding places and food for many of the animals living on the reef. Protected by a chain of islands or keys off shore and the mainland to the west, the bay is one of the most productive ecosystems in the park. It is comprised of four different ecosystems; the two major ecosystems are beneath the bay 's clear waters: hardbottom and seagrass.
They understand that the tortured nation is falling under conquerors. However, they also realize, “ In the Congo, it seems the land owns the people” (Kingsolver, 283). The Congo is a force that can take down any dissension. If someone messes with the everyday life of the Congo by not following its procedures, they will be doomed by the rebuttle the Congo administers. The citizens occupying the land know how to live in a calm agreement with it and respect nature. Nevertheless, nature can always disrupt the peace with malevolent actions such as the invasion of the ants. The ants, a symbol of the power of the jungle, are enough to make the citizens run out to the river for
While the Indians were at peace with nature, the white man was destroying it, cutting down its forests and exploiting its natural recourses. The Indians had no concept of time other than that of the sum and of the seasons, while eh whites had business deadlines and busy schedules. Because of this vast difference in values, peaceful coexistence was not easy to achieve.
From his first major hit Nausicaä in 1984, Miyazaki has been extraordinarily consistent in the quality, the richness and the freshness of his following features, building one of the most accomplished filmography in cinema 's history made of strong testament films to educate the world and its people (Nausicaä, Mononoke, The Wind Rises),

The aquatic ecosystems are home to some of the most diverse life forms on the planet. From plankton and plants to fish and even to large mammals, the aquatic ecosystem provides shelter to such a diverse range of life that few other ecosystems can ever compare to this large scope. In the aquatic ecosystem, there are many factors that allow for biotic life to flourish. Some of these factors include biodiversity, energy flow, and nutrient cycling. Not only do these factors allow for the prosperity of the aquatic ecosystem function, but also allow for the proper function of the other factors.
