“My Best Friend’s Wedding” is so unpredictable, but properly organized. Four stars out of five awarded by many viewers to the movie. “My Best Friend’s Wedding” ends up with a different couple than people expected. As the movie happens, it starts with Michael telling Julianne he is dating and is getting married to Kimmy in four days. Despite that, Julianne travels for the wedding with the intention of breaking the couple up. Unfortunately for Julianne, her best friend is getting married to the girl of his dreams, Kimmy (Netter, Whitcher & Hogan,1997). This mimics real-life situations. The movie’s ending disappoints the audience because, in their view, they wanted Julianne and Michael to end up together. The director of the movie thought otherwise, which establishes the movie so classic. To the viewers, the ending is more of a mixed feeling of love and hate, making the movie a ‘must see’. The movie tells the audience that life is so unfair. So, loving someone does not guarantee a blissful ending together. Also, often we fail to realize what we have until someone else has it. Although “My Best Friend’s Wedding” did not end as viewers expected, it did show life reality in analyzing love, friendship and the emotions that follow. Best of all, classified as the most classic romantic movie of all times because of its rare ending. Usually the hero and heroine end up together, but in this case, it was different. Over time, though, the romantic comedies dwindled to the point where nowadays the romantic comedies seem to be dead (Mernit). Today, the romantic comedy is alive and well, but it goes unrecognized due to it adapting. The appearance of the romantic comedy may have changed, but the key elements have not changed. The key elements of any romantic comedy include two characters who will meet and fall in love with each other, a conflict that will tear the two of them apart, and an ending where love has changed the main characters and they will either accept or deny love such as the events of Philadelphia Story.
It was a beautiful Saturday morning on January 6. The winter air was crisp and the view was amazing. The soft salty scent from the ocean filled the air. Off the balcony on the second story of the Long Beach Yacht Club I could see the light swells of the Pacific Ocean. The small crashing of waves added to the peaceful instrumental background sounds as the ceremony was about to begin. January 6, my wedding date, was a day that changed the rest of my life.

As humans, we always seek enlargement of our being and wanted to be more than ourselves. Each one of us, by nature, sees the world with a perspective and selectivity different from others. But, we want to see the world through other’s eyes; imagine with other’s imaginations; feel with other’s hearts, at a same time as with our own. Movies offer us a window onto the wider world, broadening our perspective and opening our eyes to new wonders.
It’s about 7:45 P.M. April 15, 2015. Jasmine is calling my name asking if I’m ready to go. As I’m trying to put all the loose ends together, I think I’m ready. My hair is done in a curly up do with a thin white braided hair band, makeup rushed but it will do, and I’m wearing a knee length white dress. Just a simple white dress, form fitting, made from a linen type of material. My stomach is turning and twisting. As my mind is racing we make way to the park.
