The first true storyteller is, and will continue to be, the teller of fairy tales. Whenever good counsel was at a premium, the fairy tale had it, and where the need was greatest, its aid was nearest. The fairy tale Little Briar Rose(Dornröschen) by The Grimm Brothers, is one of many fairy tales that people have read millions of time. Little Briar Rose is originally written by the Grimm Brothers, Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, was originally published in 1905. The country of origin is Germany. Many believe that folktales written by Grimm brothers tend to promote a national identity based on the purity of German blood. Many also believe that their story ‘Little Briar Rose’ shows a deep hidden sign of xenophobia (intense or irrational dislike or fear of people from other countries). This is shown through the thirteen fairies. At the party for the newborn princess, only twelve of the fairies were invited. The thirteenth fairy wasn’t invited symbolizing that she was from another country and that they didn’t want to be involved with her. In the fairy tale the original curse was, “I have come to bring the princess a gift. And here it is: one day she will prick her finger with the spindle on a spinning wheel and she will die!” (Perrault 153). The basic elements of the story can also be interpreted as a nature allegory: the princess represents nature, the wicked fairy godmother is winter, who puts the Court to sleep with pricks of frost until the prince (spring) cuts away the brambles with his sword (a sunbeam) to allow the Sun to awaken sleeping princess nature. I think that it may depend on each person, and how they view fairy tales to say if it molds how they think of the world around us. I do however think that the stories we know as children affect us as we move into adulthood, because as we grow older our minds become more complex and we don 't see the world as a fairytale anymore. Many people stopped believing in fairy tales by the time they go up. The message of the Grimm brothers is very simple - she should stay passive, wait for Mr. Right and everything will be fine. This however isn 't the only message behind the story. There are symbols in many fairy tales. It has very simple message: it doesn 't matter if you get an impression everybody around are living full life and you are just waiting.
