Hello, today I will be speaking about a 40 second segment clip I have chosen in the opening scene of Harry Potter and the Deathly hallows Part 2. However, firstly I will give you a short recap up to this point.
Through the whole series, Harry Potter, the protagonist, is a teenage boy growing with the reputation of the only person to survive the curse of killing. This killing curse was cast by the villain of the series, Voldemort. A very impressive wizard who has extreme power which he uses for evil. Voldemort first attempts to kill using the killing curse when Harry is an infant. Voldemort was informed by a prophet that he one day, was going to be defeated by Harry. Harry re-enters the wizarding world at age 11 when he first is enrolled at the Hogwarts School of

This is an intense close up and shows his very pasty, tired face. It shows his facial movements as his dark black eyes track the students in the courtyard. This clearly conveys to the viewer that Snape is watching the students and indicates that the emotion that we see in his face and body language are a reaction to this. Snape is placed in the right third of the screen which is both aesthetically pleasing and also indicates that he is looking outwards from the watchtower. His face is very stiff and he looks very anxious about the future. Snape 's pale face is highlighted against his uniform foreshadowing the contrast between his character and his involvement with voldemort. His hair then blows in the wind, a metaphor for the “big gust of wind” (voldemort) that has swept through and made it evil. The gust of wind also connects Snape to the poor weather that was seen earlier in the scene, reminding the viewer that Snape is very much a part of the evil in the school. There is then a slow fade to black screen emphasising how major the segment just was, leaving the audience questioning and thinking about what is going to happen
The books Redwall by: Brian Jacques and the Harry Potter Series by: J.K. Rowling share many similar and different character traits, themes and symbols. Redwall takes place place during a medieval time in an abbey and the characters are woodland animals. The Harry Potter series takes place in modern day England primarily in school of magic where teenagers learn how to harness their magical powers and abilities. The two may not be similar in terms of plot, but Redwall and Harry Potter both share the themes and symbols of courage, compassion and evil.
In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Harry discovers that in order to defeat Voldemort, as Harry is expected to, he must die.
The saga continues when Kutniss Everdeen, the “Mockingjay,” and District 13 wager war against the autocratic Capitol.
Since the first segment of the series was released in 1997, Harry Potter has been challenged by churches and parents due to the practicing of magic by children found within the books. The books have been removed from school shelves, discouraged by churches, and censored by parents. It is claimed that Harry Potter is devilish, satanic, and encourages children to practice the occult, damaging their religious views (LaFond). Therefore, many parents keep their children from reading the book series. Yet, Harry Potter has been such a positive influence on my so many lives. Evident through the movies, theme parks, stores, and much more, J.K. Rowling’s series has been an overwhelming success for many reasons (“Because it’s his…”). In order to encourage
Ever since J.K. Rowling first introduced Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in 1997, children and adults have read and loved the series. It has gained such popularity that all of the books have been made into major motion pictures, and a Harry Potter attraction has been opened in Universal Studios, Florida. Though the readers love Rowling’s intricate and exciting story lines, many controversies have arisen from these stories, not only in the United States, but also in various countries around the world. Perhaps the biggest controversy is the religious implications perceived by some critics. Although these critics believe that the series promotes paganism and encourages evil actions, these theories should not be taken so seriously.
Harry has spent all summer waiting to hear news about Lord Voldemort, a evil wizard that Harry saw return the year before, but nobody believes him. One evening after listening to news ,he decides to go for a walk. He then sees his cousin, who he lives with and hates. They then get in a fight and Harry pulls out his wand and at that exact moment two dementors attack them. Dudley thinks Harry is attacking him so he punches Harry. Harry then heroically saves them both by producing a patronus and driving away the dementors.
The Goblet of Fire is also the first Harry Potter film to be directed by an Englishman, Mike Newell, best known for Four Weddings and a Funeral and Donnie Brasco. Like his predecessor Alfonso Cuarón, he has little time for anything sappy or sugary. "Dark and difficult times lie ahead" is one of the things that
Just to quickly run through the two previous books; Harry Potter is a wizard, who’s parents were killed by the worst dark wizard ever known. The reason why Harry Potter is still around, is because Lord Voldemort failed to kill Harry. His spell hit Harry, but then backfired on Voldemort taking all of his powers with him. Harry is so famous for two things. Withstanding the powers of Lord Voldemort, and, taking him back in to the underworld in hiding. In the first book, Harry receives a letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He’s eventually allowed to go, and spends the next six months there learning magic, getting into trouble, and trying to solve mysteries of his past, and the school. In the second book, Harry goes back to his second year at Hogwarts, and gets into more trouble, figures out many astonishing mysteries and learns loads more magic. His best friends in the two books consist of Ron and Hermione (two of his fellow wizard students) and Hagrid the gamekeeper who was expelled from Hogwarts but allowed a job as the gamekeeper.
One of the most distinguishing characteristics of children's films is the centrality of the moral. Although Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone teaches children many lessons, but the main one is that good will always conquer evil. Right from the beginning of the film, audiences are shown how poorly Harry gets treated ...
Harry James Potter is the main character. He was born to James and Lilly Potter a half-blood family. Half-bloods are families that have both wizard and muggle family members. When Harry was only a baby his parents died leaving him to live with his muggle Aunt's family the Dursley's. Growing up his aunt Petunia and uncle Vernon treated Harry very poorly and more as a servant. He was bullied
The quick cuts between the shots of characters wandering throughout the mysterious basement to people running down the dark, shadowy school hallways creates a feeling of worry and nervousness in the audience. As each scene builds suspense, the music becomes louder and expands upon the uncertainty in horror situations. In the next scene, the director zooms in behind the two characters as they’re slowing creeping down the hallways. Suddenly a loud crash is heard and the characters instantly turn around as seen in figure 3. The mid shot provides an image of the fright in their faces. This clip startles the audience as the characters are unexpectedly frightened by the alarming noise. The trailer ends with one final scene of Bird Fitcher falling to the ground and out of nowhere some kind of monster grabs her face. This leaves viewers completely shocked and wondering what the outcome of this horror film will be. Throughout the trailer, multiple dark and eerie scenes containing suspenseful music frightened viewers, but served to widen the potential audience members for the
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was written by J. K. Rowling and is the seventh and final book in the Harry Potter series. The book is about a seventeen-year-old wizard, named Harry Potter, who has to travel all over England to find things that will help him defeat the evil wizard, Lord Voldomort. The main theme/moral of the entire series is good will always triumphs over evil. In every book, even when it looks like evil is going to win, good always triumphs in the end.
Harry eventually learns that he narrowly escaped death because his parents, especially his mother Lily, were prepared to die for him because of their love for him. He was always Voldemort’s intended victim. His father, James, was killed trying to give his mother time to escape with their child. Lily was even given the chance to stand aside and be spared while Voldemort completed the task that he came to Godric’s Hollow, the Potter’s home for. She sacrificed herself to protect her only beloved son, which en...
Harry Potter starts off slow, but gets very interesting near the end. In the beginning, you meet the Dursleys, Harry’s aunt, uncle, and their son Dudley. Then you learn that Harry’s parents were witches, and that they were destroyed by a evil wizard. A good witch, Albus Dumbeldoor, sends Harry to the Dursleys, because they’re his only remaining family. The Dursleys however, hated Harry and his family, so Harry was mistreated for years. He was forced to live in a cuborrod under the stairs. He had to watch as the fat, stuck up Dudley got whatever he wanted, and then usually broke whatever it was he got. Then one day Harry got a letter.
Many people believe that Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe’s storyline and plot are based off of a Christian-based allegory; however, it is not. With the early childhood and teenage years of C.S. Lewis, the author of Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, the story could be a reflection of his life. Lewis also had a fascination with mythology, which plays a key role in the making of the characters. Many think that Lewis’s Christian conversion is what inspired him to write Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Without the Christian conversion of C.S. Lewis, Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe’s content would not change but the focus on the meaning would change from a Christian allegory to a children’s fantasy novel. The first fact that would support this theory is Lewis’s childhood.
