In the novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in The Nighttime by Mark Haddon, the main character Christopher Boone is a 15 year old boy who has Asperger's Syndrome, a developmental disorder which affects the ability to socialize and communicate. Christopher lives with his father and believes that his mother has passed away from a heart attack. The story begins when Christopher finds his neighbor, Mrs Shear’s dog dead in the garden. Intrigued by the death of the dog and his obsession for animals he decides to investigate the murder. Furthermore, when Christopher goes deeper into the investigation he finds out that his very own father murdered the dog and that his mother is alive and well. He does not know how to control his behavior problems and is constantly worried about having things done a specific way. His parents, and friends know how to deal with him because they lived with him his whole life. Only being exposed to places near his home and people in his hometown, he has no idea of how other people might react to his disability. but he has to go outside his home after finding out his father killed the dog and far away to places he has never been, with people that he does not know. “I don’t like it when people grab me. And I don’t like being surprised either, so I hit him, like I hit the policeman when he took hold of my arms and lifted me onto my feet. But Father didn’t let go, and he was shouting. When Christopher and his father before got into fights, Christopher would yell, cry and become very aggressive due to his disability, but when finding out his father killed the neighbor’s dog, he does not react this
