Into The Wild, by Jon Krakauer is a biography of Chris McCandless and his life. Chris McCandless was a free-spirited, anti-authoritarian, and anti-social man; he spent the majority of his free time by himself, being able to entertain himself for hours at a time. He was hard-working and motivated to succeed, anything he put his mind to he accomplished, he conquered major hurdles in his life, tackled gargantuan obstacles, and overcame adversity; all to end his journey in the Alaskan wilderness in August 1992. Chris’s family must have been terrified of what could be of Chris and with no contact could only speculate on his whereabouts and his life as a whole. While what Chris did was terrible, leaving his family to only dream of his current existence and passing away without any word to his family in two years, in the grand scheme of Chris’s life he felt dismayed by his family and disliked his father. Chris’s personal life was more fulfilled without his family, and if he disclosed any information to his family about his whereabouts they would have sent someone to pick him up, so to live his life he dropped all contact. While Chris made mistakes to properly live his dreams to completion, he followed his heart and walked his path, a truly admirable stance on life. Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer is the story of Chris McCandless, a man who knew a true passion for his life.
