The two essays’ “Usl at the Stadium” by Rivka Galchen and “From is Shaming Necessary?” by Jennifer Jacquet express that society should not shame individuals if it is something that is not sever. Because the shamers’ tend to shame others because they feel like there is no other alternative or way for people to see or understand them. Shaming others can put them in dark spot that can be hard for them to get out of. If shaming is to be used as a punishment then it should be used for serious problems like drunk driving and criminal offenses.

In the 2015 AFC Championship Game between the New England Patriots and the Indianapolis Colts, the Patriots were accused of tampering with their footballs. They allegedly deflated the footballs to 2 PSI below the legal limit, supposedly giving them an unconstituted and illegal advantage. On May 11th, 2015, the National Football League ruled that the Patriots organization was guilty, penalizing them with a 1 million dollar fine, the loss of a first round pick in the 2016 NFL draft, and the loss of a fourth round pick in the 2017 draft. Tom Brady, the quarterback, was personally penalized with a four-game suspension for his involvement in the incident. He claims, however, to be innocent and has been exhausting every possible legal avenue to avoid his punishment.
Toughness has become, or perhaps has always been, an American ideal. We want tough politicians, tough punishments, and tough citizens. Which is why it’s no surprise that an advertisement for American Football would want to be seen as “The tougher football.” In 2009 the Dusseldorf Panther’s released a billboard ad for their American football team that read “American Football. The Tougher Football” (Outdoor Advertisement). These words take up the bottom third of the photo with the second, smaller line reading “www.dusseldorfpanther.de” there’s then a break in between text where the panther’s logo is located followed by, “Getting Tougher Since 1978.” The image behind the words is that of a black man flexing his bicep. His bicep is shaped like
The Olympic Games showcase a rare opportunity for the host country to show the world their culture, hospitality, talent, and acceptance of others. The Berlin Olympics of 1936 were no exception. Declared the best of their day, Germany spared no expense to impress the thousands of tourists who flooded the country. By building of a new sports field, an enormous Olympic Stadium, and the first official Olympic Village, Germany was determined to amaze the world. Despite these lavish projects, the Nazi Olympics were, at their very core, a gleaming illusion used to hide a nation on the verge of annihilating a decade of peace.

I cannot exactly place my reasoning, yet it still captivates me nonetheless. Soccer, or football, as most of the world knows it, stands out—at least to me—from virtually all sports. My opinion may be biased after a decade of playing, but there is a good reason I stuck with it for so long. While playing, I found myself to become so impassioned with not just the obvious, drawn-out goals of the game, but also with the paralyzing suspense present in no other sport quite as it is in soccer. I find it to be equally as exciting play as it is to behold. Seeing how one minute movement can completely change the outcome of the game is a marvel even to witness, let alone play. You almost cannot afford to look away, as every match is both detail-oriented and volatile.
Soccer was globalized when the FIFA World Cup was established in 1928. Being the single most watched sporting event in the world, the World Cup is a way to bring the world together in a delightful way. According to FIFA’s website, “It fulfills FIFA’s objectives to touch the world, develop the game, and build a better future through a variety of ways.” They also mention, “As of mid-2007, FIFA has grown to include 208 member associations, thus making it one of the biggest and certainly the most popular sports federation in the world” (“FIFA World Cup”). The World Cup has been held every four years since the inaugural tournament in 1930, except in 1942 and 1946 when WWII stopped it from being held (“FIFA World Cup”). Countries compete against each other in these tournaments in a process of elimination until one country comes out on top and is titled champion.
Our book defines a group as a collection of people who are perceived to bond together in a coherent unit to some degree (Baron 241). Making a decision isn’t always easy depending on how many people are in the group and if there is any conflict within the group. The basic aspects of a group include roles, status, norms and cohesiveness but when viewing my soccer team I see only certain obvious aspects being present. When thinking about the process in which we, as a group have to make the decision of where to stop for food after an away game, it is obvious that many theories and/or topics can be applied. These theories or topics include evaluation apprehension, social decision schemas, authentic dissent and conflict. The four subjects listed above help explain how a group can come to a decision together.
...oke multiple records. He helped to win the UEFA Euro Team of the Tournament in both 2004 and 2012, and the UEFA Team of the Year not once, not twice, but six times in the years 2003, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. Some of his broken records included being the first player in the history of El Clasico to score in six straight games, the only player to have won the European Golden Shoe in two different leagues, the first top European league player to reach 40 goals in a single season in two consecutive years, the first player to score against every team in La Liga, the most hat-tricks in a single season for Real Madrid, seven, the most matches played in World Cup finals, 11 matches, Portugal all-time top scorer, 49 goals, and there are over thirty-five other records that he has broken.
Pelé defined the role of the playmaker/midfielder type. He led some of the greatest Brasilian players of all time - Vavá, Didi, Garrincha, and others. Many said Pelé would have been the best in any position he played. Pelé once insisted to the manager of Santos that he play goalkeeper. On January 19, 1964, he substituted Santos goalkeepr Gilmar, who had been ejected, in the semi-final game of the Brasil Cup. For five minutes, after scoring three goals, Pelé played with the number one jersey and made two spectacular saves that saved Santos the spot in the finals.
Football is a full contact sport that millions of fans watch every season even though it is not a worldwide sport yet. Baseball may be America’s past time but football is America’s obsession. It is played on a field but the athletes seem more like gladiators fighting for blood in the arena for the amusement of their fans. The sport has changed drastically over the years into an event unlike any other, from gaining fans to implementing new rules and regulations in order to keep players safe.
The requirement for a solitary body to supervise football association got obvious at the start of the twentieth century with the expanding fame of international matches. FIFA was established in Paris on 21 May 1904; the French name and acronym continue even outside French-talking nations. The founder members were the national organizations of Belgium, Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. Additionally, on that same day, the German Association pronounced its interest of affiliating through a telegram.
