Beast’s castle The hidden castle was the primary locale for both film (“Beast’s Castle”). Particularly in the live action, it was where the story started and ended. The castle was structured in a way resembling the architectural style of the Baroque period and each room is elegantly furnished (Stamp). The bedroom, dining room, library, prison and the beast’s private garden were artificial sets, and the scenes in each location were the turning points in the storyline. Figure 11 & 12: Cogsworth(the clock) and Lumiere(the candle) staring at an uninvited guest. When Maurice first entered the castle, he met few enchanted objects mainly interacting with Cogsworth and Lumiere. Unlike what was presented in the animation, the director used complementary colors, utilized them as associative colors to represent these two characters. The animation suggested a time when the scene took place by displaying the sky colored of the sun setting while the remake solely focalized on the characters. The Prince’s suit was in saturated blue and Belle’s dress was in desaturated yellow. The blue and yellow colors were constantly used as the symbols of these two characters. With this in mind, they were not used in the live action. Belle turned out wearing an embodied white dress and the Prince was wearing in pastel blue. The texture of costumes added distinct elegance as patterns were attached to it. It was inspiring how the director took advantage of color symbol to convey the theme behind. All dancers were dressed in white costumes, represented the innocence and peace.
