‘A Stranger in the Mirror’ written in 1976, is one of the earliest work’s by Sidney Sheldon. The book is about the life of two protagonist – Toby Temple and Josephine Czinski a.k.a. Jill Castle, before and after they enter Hollywood. This book narrates the different ways in which the Hollywood and civilian life influence each other. Toby Temple is the Superstar of Hollywood and is world’s best comedian. He gets everything he wants, but is unable to find a person who can understand him and love him. Jill Castle is beautiful and sensuous starlet. She has dark and arcane past, but her desires are even greater than Toby’s. A hunger for recognition, fame and prominence drives Toby Temple and Jill Castle to marry and together they rule the empire of Hollywood. But, with time, the emotions of love, lust, jealousy and revenge turns their victory into disastrous nightmare that rolls inexorably on to a climax, devastating several lives.
