Cheating is never just or the right thing to do. Many people believe it is okay to cheat if it is for entertainment, but it is unfair to other people. Being a cheater does not benefit anyone in the long run. In today’s world cheating has become an everyday occurrence.
In a football game stand-point the Patriots and their system called the Deflate Gate is very unfair. The patriots deflated their footballs so they could be gripped better in the Super Bowl. That was seen as justified in the judge’s eyes. It was unfair to their opponent. Deflating a ball gave the patriots the upper hand. The Seahawks played fair and didn’t have the advantage of better gripping the balls. In this case the patriots won the super bowl, but in the long run, their quarterback was suspended for three games in the 2016 football season. So in reality the Patriots didn’t win by cheating. Cheaters will never win in the long run.

Steroids are also a way of cheating in the game of football.
Many athletes say “steroids are just a performance enhancer.” Disqualification is a consequence for using steroids in any professional sport. Athletes that use and abuse, performance enhancing drugs get an advantage on those whom are doing it the right way. The deliberate use of steroids is an illegitimate attempt to get an unfair advantage on the other athletes. Steroids enhance an athlete’s natural talent, however a sports contest should be fair for each competitor. Athletes in America are frequently drug tested so they don’t use steroids to cheat. Overall, steroids are unsafe, illegal, and a common method of cheating in professional sports so they are banned across
America. Hand Stick is also a common practice of cheating. Some athletes who play American football use hand stick as a cheating strategy, but if you are caught using hand stick in the National Football League they may be subjected to fines and suspension. Players who practice for hours catching footballs are at a disadvantage to those who spray hand stick on their hands and the ball just sticks to their hand. True football athletes practice day after day to catch footballs and then you have those who cheat, leaving the true athletes at a disadvantage. It is highly unfair to be able to throw your hand up and a ball stick to it when there are guys working very hard and putting in dedication in. It just isn’t worth getting in all the trouble for cheating when you could learn it and do it fairly. In Conclusion, Cheating is not justified or fair to anyone, for any reason, what so ever. Many football players just want to win, but in the long run nobody wins from cheating. It is sad some people feel the only way to win is by cheating. In reality, cheating in football will hurt you more than benefit you. Steroids will hurt you and will kill you so, that’s not a good idea. Hand stick will make your hands all sticky and gross, so, that’s not a good idea. Deflating your footballs will get you suspended from football games. Lastly, it just all around isn’t a good idea to cheat and it will never benefit the cheater. Football was meant to be a fair sport for natural abilities and talents, not for unfair cheating. Cheating will not benefit anyone in any sport ever!
In American high schools across the country, many people buy, sell, and use drugs. In addition, these people influence everyone around them. On these campuses, some of the people influenced by this illegal activity are sports players. One of the sports most affected is baseball. Doping in baseball is wrong because it ruins baseball's reputation, it negatively influences the athlete's health, and the drugs are bad for young people who hold up athletes as role models.
The first case of performance enhancing drugs in sports came before the discovery of anabolic steroids and is believed to be that of a British road bicycle racer named Arthur Linton. At the age of twenty four, he died during a race between Bordeaux and Paris in 1886. Controversy then soon arose when he was believed to have taken a stimulant called trimethyl at the time of his death.
Professional athletes, throughout history, have been exalted for their outstanding abilities and achievements in sports. Unfortunately, many athletes have turned to anabolic steroids in order to give them an edge, a boost their athletic performance. Starting with the 1954 World Weightlifting Championships, where the Soviets unexpectedly dominated their lifting classes with the use of steroids, it has become increasingly popular among athletes to cheat with the help of this drug. Although the appeal to steroid use is evident when observing how it increases someone’s athletic abilities, many users fail to consider the detrimental side effects of the drug. Also, in my opinion, athletes should be expected to perform based upon their natural abilities, opposed to abilities enhanced by anabolic steroids. Ultimately, anabolic steroids should continue to be illegal in professional sports due to their major health risks and the unfair advantage they serve players.
Cheating is a big deal in any situation. But when it comes to sports, it is one of the worst things to do because it diminishes the pureness of the game.
Steroids are ruining sports in the United States, and they are also going to ruin future athletes if the United States does not put a stop to it. Many young athletes in the United States are taking performance enhancing drugs because they see that professional athletes are doing it and getting results. These teenagers are using steroids because they want to look muscular and fit, but they are not aware of the negative effects steroids have on their bodies. Young athletes do not know that they are not only risking their careers but also their bodies. Steroids may make a person look muscular and fit, but at the same time, it is ruining their heart. Steroids also cause people to act differently and do foolish things like using other drugs. Parents can prevent steroid use by teaching their children about it at a young age and staying involved in their children’s sport lives. Steroids have ruined professional careers. They ruined Lance Armstrong, Marion Jones, and Barry Bonds’ careers and almost ruined Alex Rodriguez’s career. Professional athletes use steroids to improve their performance which is cheating. The game is not fair if someone is performing better by using drugs, and everybody should be performing with what they got. There are many different ways to achieve what they want in fair and healthier way. Many high school athletes are using steroids in the United States. They are not doing it under a doctor’s supervision; therefore, they are ruining their bodies without them knowing. Many of these athletes are looking at the outcome only and not what there are doing to their bodies in addition to getting stronger, muscular, and fit. All governing sport bodies in the United States need to take steroid testing seriously and give at...
Since Major League Baseball all-star Ken Caminiti openly admitted to Sports Illustrated to have used steroids during his career, steroid use as a muscle and performance enhancer has been uncovered and become a big issue Major League Baseball is wrestling with. The “ongoing and delicate subject, baseball’s dirty, little secret that is no secret anymore,” is a huge and growing problem (Curry B20). Now that light has been shed on the issue, critics are beginning to realize the magnitude of this problem and do not like it. Steroids are a cheating virus that is spreading quickly. Users cheat other players, themselves, the fans, and the game itself. Action must be taken to rid Major League Baseball of this virus before it takes over the game.
In the 1988 Summer Olympics, an unbelievable feat occurred. The feat happened during one of the premiere events, the 100 meter dash. The event was set up to be a great race between Carl Lewis of the United States and Ben Johnson of Canada. This did not happen. Ben Johnson blew away the field running a 9.79, a world record. Carl Lewis finished a distant second with a 9.88 ("Ben Johnson").
William Layman and William Annitto have had a case of a young man who was
Americans today tend to believe that there are only a select few in sports who are users of steroids. However, according to Julian Savulescu, "20.3% of professional athletes said they have tried drugs or steroids to improve their performance in the game" (3). At this high percentage, about one in five athletes are considered "cheaters". Jacob Beck believes that "using steroids is not cheating if a whole generation of the best and most promising athletes have been doing it" (5). There is no reason to continue trying to catch steroid users when so many athletes take them. All major league sports are filled with steroid use to some extent. It is impossible to have a perfectly "clean" sport without eliminating a good percentage of its players. Since steroids already have a major presence in major league sports and there is no way to ever completely get rid of them, steroid use should be legalized. By legalizing steroids, athletes would no longer have to worry about unsafe or risky suppliers; with prescriptions from doctors, steroids would be safe for the athletes, and users would be less likely to abuse them. Also, the playing fields for all sports would be more equal than they have ever been in a long time. By creating an equal playing field, sport records would be more meaningful and there would be much fewer arguments for cheating or an unfair record. With an increase in muscle strength, there would be fewer injuries and more quality performances, which would make fans more inclined to go to a game knowing there was going to be a great display of strength and athleticism.
Imagine a world of sports without the worry of steroids. Now picture one where everyone is on them. Which is the better way? Thousands of years ago Olympic athletes saw the greatest achievement was simply taking part in such a special event. A lot of people argue that the use of steroids is sports is cheating. It is giving an unfair advantage to athletes over those who aren't using. But a counter argument says that a wealthy athlete has an advantage anyway. These individuals have the ability to buy the best trainers and virtually have no worries. This can be considered an unfair advantage but is still allowed by all perfesional sports. For good or for bad what is steriods doing to our world class athletes and entertainment around the world?
Anabolic steroids are drugs containing, or hormone-like substances, that are used to increase strength and promote muscle growth. They were first developed in the 1930s in Europe to treat undernourished patients and to promote healing after surgery. Competitive weightlifters began using steroids in the 1950s as a way to increase their athletic performance. Use gradually spread throughout the world among athletes in other has been estimated that at least one in 15 male high school seniors in the United States--more than a half-million boys--has used steroids. Some are athletes attempting to increase their strength and size; others are simply youths attempting to speed up their growth to keep pace with their peers. In some countries, anabolic steroids are available over the counter. In the United States, a doctor's prescription is necessary.
Have you ever imagined a game played with rules that were adjusted to one of the player’s likings and style and how unfair that would be to the other players? Alex Rodriguez was recently suspended for the entire 2014 season over accusations of taking performance enhancing drugs and having ties with the biogenesis clinic. Steroids have marked a low point in time for sport’s reputations as the steroid phenomenon carries on. Performance-enhancing drugs include any substance taken to perform better athletically. This term is referenced often and typically refers to steroid use in sports by professional athletes. Steroids are taken by swallowing or injecting into the muscle. Users take steroids on a schedule known as a cycle, in which they "stack" or "pyramid" their doses. Doctors may prescribe steroids to patients for legitimate medical purposes such as: loss of function of testicles, low red blood cell count, delayed puberty and debilitated states resulting from surgery or sickness. However, today athletes will go to many lengths to increase athletic ability, including: steroids, HGH, Amphetamines, and even animal or human organs. “The most common illegal source is from smuggling steroids steroid’s into the United States from the countries such as Mexico and European countries. Smuggling is easier because a prescription is not required for purchase of steroids”(Anabolic Steroids). Although steroid use has several great pros that make it seem like an excellent supplement to one's exercise routine, they also have some very serious side effects. For one, there are a great many psychiatric consequences involved in taking steroids. Many individuals report severe depression during and after stopping use (Chiras, 2005). ...
My issue over the concern of athletes have been struggling with the usage of steroids has widely spread among athletes and others; not only do steroids give an athlete a hard times but it’s also an unfair advantage to the other athletes and what they’ve accomplish. “Besides making muscles bigger, anabolic steroids may help athletes recover from a hard workout more quickly by reducing the amount of muscle damage during the session” (“Steroids in Sports”,2005). Now a days steroids are everywhere as an athlete. Many males and female young athletes preferably take it because they want to look and feel good when it comes to impressing someone and trying to become someone they look forward too. Young teens and adults try to cheat themselves in the career of their dreams. When it comes to a sport, teen athletes are not aware of what type of consequences may happen to them at the time. It may come to the time where it’s too late to take care of. In other cases, some athletes may like feeling the aggressive they get when they take drugs such as steroids. Athletes shouldn’t take steroids as the harmful health effects of the anabolic steroid in population wise. Many people have had their lives ruined by the use of illegal steroids and yet the desired effects are overwhelming that people tend to forget about the results and consequences that may effect. Athletes on steroids believe taking steroids will enhance their performance, strength, and size without having to put necessary work. These benefits, however, are associated with much short-term and long term risk.
Steroids are being used more commonly today in normal people's lives. They are also being used so athletes can become stronger, but they have many consequences that follow the advantages. Most people believe that steroids are a false measurement of an athletes ability, and others believe that steroids are good because athletes can become stronger and make their sports more exciting to watch. This is a very important issue today because athletes today are using steroids to gain an unfair advantage over the other athletes.
Sports are governed by sets of rules or customs and often, competition. Sports have always been a way to connect us to our past and to build optimism about the future. Sport’s a way to bond the people despite differences in race, age and gender. However, today the game that is supposed to teach character, discipline and team work is teaching cheating. And in today’s world, with fame, endorsement, drugs and so much to gain, it is not surprising that athletes are cheating in sports. Cheating in sports is not new thing; it started the day when humans first discovered athletic competitions. According to the Los Angeles Times (August 20, 2006) “More than 2,000 years before Mike Tyson bit off a piece of Evander Holyfield's ear and was disqualified in the boxing ring, Eupolus of Thessaly, a boxer in the Olympics of 388 BC, bribed three of his opponents to take dives. Historians consider Eupolus' crime the first recorded act of cheating in sports” (Pugmire 7). We have been seeking an easier way to win. Cheating in sports, which recently has manifested in diverse forms, is more a result of increasing pressure to win from the sponsors and team management, especially in the context of sport becoming a career rather than an act of recreation. What actually constitutes cheating? When does gamesmanship stop and cheating start? And should we try to stop cheating in sports? The use of illegal drugs, huge amount of money and betting is ruining the fame of sports. Hence, cheating in sports is caused by drugs and the desire for endorsement and fame which are getting more effective in recent.
