In this paper, the writer will present a detail outline of a sexual misconduct policy pertaining to church leaders, and the congregants. According to Trull and Carter, once a minister loses his reputation and credibility his/her ministry is in jeopardy. The congregants, the associate ministers and the church are damage. (172) Futhermore, Trull and Carter states, "Clergy sexual misconduct are a violation of the integrity of the pastoral office, a betrayal of ordination vows."(165) In other words, the leader involved in the sexual misconduct would cause the people not only on the inside but people on the outside as well view other ministers in a negative way. This negativity causes mistrust in the pastors of the church and damages the people's …show more content…

Risk Management A. Implementation The church will inform the members of the procedures carried out on the sexual misconduct of the accused. B. Liability Insurance The church may be liable for harm and damages of the fault of the minister/or member. The church should make sure to have sexual misconduct put into the clause of the liability insurance. VIII. Volunteers Volunteers helping out in the church are subject to the same policy of the church. A criminal background screening will be done on all volunteers before they work in the church with children/teenagers. Before the volunteers or any member of the church work with children their background check has cleared. IX. Conclusion According to Trull and Carter, "One of the best ways to ensure responsible sexual behavior is for Minister to build strong support systems. Accountability relationships offer a crucial antidote for misconduct."(178) Trull and Carter also states, "The greatest role model for ministers is Jesus."(178) When Jesus walked the earth, he showed humanity how to live and to resist temptation. As ministers and leaders of Christ, people need compassion, honesty, hope and trust. Leaders need to see others as God sees humanity, vulnerable in need of a
N.T. Wright: During my first semester at Northwestern College, I was assigned the book, “The Challenge of Jesus” by N.T. Wright for one of my Biblical Studies courses. This book and every other book Tom Wright has written has dramatically impacted my Christian faith. Dr. Wright has not only defended the basic tenants of the Christian faith, but also has shown how an academically-minded pastor ought to love and care for his or her congregants. N.T. Wright was previously the Bishop of Durham and pastored some of the poorest in the United Kingdom. His pastoral ministry has helped shape his understanding of God’s kingdom-vision which he is diagramming within his magnum opus “Christian Origins and the Question of God”. This series has instructed myself and countless other pastors to be for God’s kingdom as we eagerly await Christ’s return. Additionally, I have had the privilege of meeting with N.T. Wright one-on-one on numerous occasions to discuss faith, the Church, and his research. I firmly believe Tom Wright is the greatest New Testament scholar of our generation and he is the primary reason why I feel called into ministry.
Vicarious liability is a common law concept that refers to the liability that arises when one party, such as an employer, is legally liable for the acts or omissions of another party, such as an employee. This is because employers have a duty to take reasonable care for the safety of their employees and those of others who come into contact with them and their business. Does vicarious liability expose businesses to too much liability? In the case study 4.1 (Tardif v. Wiebe), we learned that vicarious liability does not always applied on employers for employee’s wrongdoings.
In 1970, a national survey said 70% of Americans believed “homosexuals are dangerous as teachers or youth leaders because they try to get sexually involved with children” (Herek). The idea that homosexuals are prone to child molestation has lessened in later years, however, another poll taken in 1999 stated 19% of heterosexual men and 10% of heterosexual women believed gay men are likely to molest children (Herek). Catholic officials are considering whether to ordain homosexuals as priests. This debate has been sparked by allegations, mostly by young boys and men, that priests sexual molested them. The Boy Scouts of America have declared homosexuals are not welcome in their organization, despite the fact that scoutmasters accused of molestation tend to be married. Fundamentalist Christians are determined to keep homosexuals away from children, claiming, “homosexuals molest children at a much higher rate than heterosexuals” (Traditional). This assertion is wrong, and an unfounded stereotype. Homosexuals are no more prone to child molestation than anyone else. In this paper, I will show the lack of a correlation between homosexuality and child molestation.
...agreed with, some that frustrated, and some that embarrassed me when my personal preferences defied logic or biblical mandate. I would recommend this reading to any who impact church worship (employee or volunteer). Not as a firm guide, but as thought-provoking advice on how corporate worship can impact an ever-changing culture. I think any worship leader would be impacted by Dawn’s questions:

There is no area of sexuality more misunderstood, distorted, maligned, and actually feared than the homosexualities. The use of the plural is not accidental. Since we do not have a sophisticated moral and behavioral vocabulary with regard to homosexual development, orientation, and behavior — as we do with heterosexuality — the use of the plural is necessary to avoid glibness and to pursue accurate definition and delineation. Homosexuality is a reality in human nature, in the function and structure of the church, and in the lives of some Christian men, priests, and bishops. It is also that reality, even if frequently misunderstood, that has the potential for the greatest crisis for ecclesiastical integrity.
In the Catholic Church, priests are the moral authority. When one has questions with his faith he is taught that he can go to his priest for informed answers. In this paper I also hope to deal with how these priests failed their flock. They took advantage of men who came to them for help when in trouble and preyed on the little boys who came to the church for guidance. In addition to the tacit feeling that as a priest they will only do what is right, these men told their victims that they would deal with the moral implications.

Robert Clinton states “The central task of leadership is influencing God’s people toward God’s purposes” (Clinton, 1988). George Barna defines a Christain Leader as “someone who is called by God to lead; leads with and through Christlike character; and demonstrates the functional competencies that permit effective leadership to take place” (Barna, 1997). It is a shame we as Christians fail to recognize that Christ would have us be leaders in more than the church.
If personal issues and vulnerabilities are not properly handled and accountability measures are not adhered to, good helpers and ministers can succumb to sexual misconduct. It is ironic that some professionals minimize the problem of sexual misconduct. Some even suggest sex between counselor and counselee is advantageous for the counselee, touting improvement of self-esteem among other benefits. Citing other reasons which contribute to sexual misconduct, Mosgofian and Ohlschlager contend some vulnerable violators are ill-equipped to recognize counter-transference issues of anger, trust and fantasy of fulfilled intimacy. They may see the counselee as the answer to their unmet
God is the focal point for spiritual gifts, talents, and training for leadership. The disciples were trained by Jesus. He did not take disciples into a classroom but He taught by examples.9 Many times the disciples were put in situations by Jesus to help them learn on-the-job. Even in missions, leaders cannot be prepared for every circumstance that may arise; however; with his talents, spiritual gifts, and the Holy Spirit, one can have the resources necessary to be successful. With one’s failures, spiritual gifts, and talents, the Holy Spirit will use these things to train leaders as they continue to aspire in

Christianity and its many sects has a colorful rainbow of different ideals towards sexuality as a whole that all stem from the same central ideal of preserving one’s sexual sanctity. The Bible has stated many varying rules that applies to sex throughout the old and new testament, which can be seen as the reason for these splintering ideals, along with the many different interpretations of these rules. The Christian Religion’s central ideals toward human sexuality was determined by the Catholic Church millennia ago, with the effects of these teachings still seen today.
