Engineering is a profession that requires a college education and holds a high level of prestige and respect. A specific type of engineer is mechanical engineering. Mechanical engineering is ranked #19 in “U.S. News 100 Best Jobs of 2014”( U.S. News & World Report). Mechanical engineers have to follow guidelines from ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), which was founded in 1880. “ASME is the leading international developer of codes and standards associated with the art, science, and practice of mechanical engineering. (ASME Setting the Standard 1-3)” To become a mechanical engineer what kind of education is necessary? What does the career entail? What is the financial stability of the job?
To obtain a job as a mechanical engineer you need a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology.
