Having gone through college and learnt on education and communication, my aspirations have developed highly and as such, I intend to found a school that would aim at providing quality education. This would see my school fostering forward and producing students who have enough knowledge to work effectively in the community.
Many people see communication as the passage of information between individual and to them that’s all they would deduce of communication. I too had that ideology but after joining college and learnt about education and communication, i had a different perspective on the topic. Communication is of great essence in all aspects of our lives but it also has different effects on education as a sector itself. Communication and education go hand in hand and the success in education is determined by the success of communication. Good communication skill and methods are essential for all education professionals as they prove to be key towards making the students attain the education passed on to them. Good communication between the education professions i.e. teachers and students is key toward success in education. Communication techniques used in classrooms would dictate on the way students would receive the information being passed to them. Teachers should establish communication methods that would ensure that communication between them and the students would be easy and effective, and efficient. Communication between the teachers and students should be made simple to ensure that the interpretation of the message being passed across correct and thus there would be a common understanding between the two parties involved.

As an educational practitioner, encouraging revision among your students is essential. This would enable them to make meaning of any writing they come up with. It has been found that when revision is encouraged as a natural process in the exploration of the content to discover meaning rather than as a punishment, then many writers would have the motivation of revising their content. It may be a slow process but it has been found to be miraculous. As a teacher, one must wean the student by giving the responsibility for the text to the writer, clearing the point that it is the student and not the teacher who makes the decision on what the writing means.
The chapter “Revising” taken from the book, originally published in 2006, Rewriting: How to Do Things with Texts, was written by Joseph Harris, an English professor who teaches at the University of Delaware. The chapter in his book that is titled “Revising,” suggests techniques and approaches to apply when revising one’s work and tackles common misconceptions on revision. Harris defines revising as, “ rethinking, refining, and developing” a piece of work ( 441). He uses these three words to encompass the importance and complexity of one word: revision.
Effective communication is a key principle for developing positive relationships with children, young people and adults. By ensuring that communication is effective it provides clarity on what behaviour is expected and a clear understanding of the tasks. In providing this children and young people will feel they are able to join in and it also provides positive experiences in variety of situations. The result is children will feel more at ease within the school setting and with those around them. By listening to what a child, young person or adult has to say a sense of value and self-worth can be achieved, which forms another factor in developing positive relationships, trust.
In the beginning of English 101 I was what you call a novice writer a person who only wrote what they felt was required. However, certain techniques that I learned in English 101 made me realize that writing was not about filling requirements; it’s about speaking out, exploring and proving a point. “Writing is an exploration. Similar to my “one and done” mentality, my lack of revision on my writing pieces is because of meer laziness. Revision is in fact very important because it offers you the chance to look at your writing pieces from a critical perspective. It allows you to analyze all of your points and change anything that needs to be changed for the better. In Shitty First Drafts, I like how Anne Lamott describes this process as dental work. She says, “check every tooth, to see if it 's loose or cramped or decayed, or even, God help us, healthy”. This sums up revision in an very alternative and pictorial way. Lamott and Shirley Rose would see eye to eye in the subject of revision because in All Writers Have More To Learn, Rose discusses what I conveyed to be a form of revising called Externalization. Rose states that Externalization allows the writer to see how clearly it reads, what it is conveying, and if it can be improved in any way. In conversation I feel Kathleen Yancey would introduce a similar yet interesting outlook on revising to Rose and Lamott because in Learning to Write Effectively Requires Different Kinds of Practice, Time and Effort, Yancey illustrates revision in the form of seeing if what you wrote was what you thought you were writing and the question of if it will fit with the perception of the audience. As a teacher of writing, I realize from my experience already that I need to take a step back and allow my students some room to breathe, some room to think, possibly a model writing and an opportunity to pick up their pencils without any fears or confusion and simply write. They need to believe in their own feelings, their experiences and their own knowledge of the world around them and learn to tap into them. Without this exploration, students will remain stuck sitting with that same blank piece of paper in front of them. As a future teacher of writing, I will explore my writing by working alongside my students. I am simply amazed by what I have learned from this process already.
