Construction in general words means building something and building construction means the process of building any framework.
The history of construction is as old as man kind. It started from construction of shelter to now a days greatest engineering achievments like Millau Viaduct France, Burj Khalifa Dubai. Some structures built over the years are considered as wonders of world like the Great Pyramid of Giza, Taj Mahal India.
The history of construction is a very complex subject regarding to the materials used, building techniques, modes of transpotation, machinery used, and workforce used. But with the passage of time mankind has excelled in every field of life. The eagerness to live a comfortable and lavish life has become more than a

It is a very cost effective way to reduce lightning energy consumption using motion sensors, time of the day scheduling, occupancy detection, mood sensors and light level sensing. Lighitng can be turned on/off automatically with the help of motion and occupancy detectors which detect the presence of a human being and thus taking advantage of saving electricity with almost no human effort. Mood sensors change lighting according to the moods of a person. Photocells can detect the time of the day and adjust lighting according to it thus providing additional comfort to the …show more content…
Almost all multi storey buildings, hospitals, shopping malls are centrally air conditioned. Sensors are installed which detect amount of humidity, temperatute outside and inside the building and then work accordinglly to provoide comfort. Most of the air handlers installed within a building use some external air to keep building's air healthy because health maintainance is also essential. The amount of air is also adjusted by detecting the occupancy level within the building. This HVAC system is basically based on time of the day, temperature, humidity, pressure and occupancy of people in it. There are diffetent kinds of glass available that change their shade according to the time of the day and hence lead to almost 30% reduction in solar heat
Throughout the years, technology has changed the way live. This has included the way we build magnificent buildings. Old wonders like the Pyramids at Giza have fascinated people for years. There is another building concept that has attracted people’s attention for ages as well, domes.
The engineering discoveries of ancient Rome have played a key role in the history of architecture and engineering. Many of Rome’s roadways, bridges, and aqueducts have been in use from the first century until the twentieth century. Many American buildings have used the Roman dome. Several major structures from early Rome still stand, including the Collosseum. These remnants of feats of Roman engineering stand as a monument to the ability of ancient Roman builders.
However, the success of the building schemes relied on the construction methods and innovations that are now attributed as bei...
...also save energy by using motion censoring for doors and sinks. The dining rooms and foyers should have dim-able light switches. Another way to save a lot of energy is to make a master switch at the front door that turns off all lights. That way you never leave a light on when you aren't at home. You should use natural gas cook tops and ovens to cut down on electricity.
Building Construction procedures involve the erection of various types of structures. The major trend in present-day construction continues away from handcrafting at the building site and toward on-site assembly of even larger, more integrated subassemblies manufactured away from the site. Construction in the United States is the product of a diverse group of subindistries, with many individuals and organizations involved in the construction of a single structure, from the manufacture of necessary components to final assembly. The major elements of a building are as follows: (1) the foundation, which supports the building and provides stability; (2) the structure, which supports all the imposed loads and transmits them to the foundation; (3) the exterior walls, which may or may not be part of the primary supporting structure; (4) the interior partitions, which also may or may not be part of the primary structure; (5) the environmental- control systems, including the heating, ventilating, air-conditioning, lighting, and acoustical systems; (6) the vertical transportation systems, including elevators, escalators, and stairways; (7) communications, which may include such subsystems as intercommunications, public address , and closed-circuit television, as well as the more usual telephone wiring systems; and (8) the power, water supply, and waste disposal systems.
The main important role of the Project Management in the construction industry is to make everyone work towards the same goal that must be aligned with the strategic objectives of the company. One of the most relevant differences between any Project Management and the ones working on the Construction industry is the knowledge and skill in certain areas related to the field, it is essential to have a good understanding of construction methods, materials, scheduling and blueprint reading as well as knowledge in communication and leadership skills. In construction technology plays an important aspect to considered, for a Project Management it is important to be updated in any new technology used by construction companies. (Dykstra, 2011)
After several years of use and abuse of natural resources, humanity begins to awaken from its stunned by the advances of technology, to understand the magnitude of the impact caused by its presence in the environment. At present, trends in various aspects of human activity seek to achieve a harmonious relationship with nature; one of them is the practice of interior design. The main reason because the construction industry, in particular, has incorporated especially such attention, is the result that it has proved to be one of the main sources of pollution in water, air, and noise
This class has examined the various accomplishments of ancient Rome, many that have been carried on throughout time and influenced numerous cultures around the world. Amongst those accomplishments were the development of concrete and the utilization of arches. This paper will examine the Roman development of both concrete and the infamous concrete arch that is utilized in many modern day structures today.
A manifesto by definition is “a declaration of policy and aims” so taken from this description, an architectural manifesto would be the ideas of the architect. The new project for history is to come up with our own Manifesto, before one can do this, research needs to be done and examples must be looked at. So this essay will look at the process of creating a manifesto and the essay will also discuss other architectural manifestos which were used as inspiration for me to create my own manifesto.
This paper explores what it takes to be a construction manager and the responsibilities of being a construction manager and the skills that a construction manager should have. It also explores what good construction managers do to have success on their construction projects and the steps that a construction manager must follow to end a project and meet their deadlines at the same
As Nuttgens eloquently expressed, architecture is a “vital…expression of the experience of mankind.” It is more than just buildings used for storage, housing, religious purposes, simple functionality; it is a great manifestation of the commonality of man, the great connecting factor of humankind. However, it can be argued that the ancient and classic forms or architecture are in essence more “profound…lasting… [and] inexhaustible” than those of their modern counterparts, because of some key differences in the ways ancient and modern architecture are practiced.
Infrastructure Management and Construction deals with project management, construction materials, construction engineering and building engineering.
Every person with a job, no matter what occupation, makes an impact on society in some way, shape, or form. Some people leave their legacy by defending people in court, some saving lives in a hospital, and others planning and building works of construction. These planners have a large-scale effect on everybody in society and have an eye for detail, as well as enjoy using mathematics to ensure proper construction. That is why I have chosen architecture to be my career. An architect is a person who designs buildings and supervises their construction. A broader view of an architect is a person who is responsible for inventing or realizing a particular idea or project. Architecture varies from the pillars of the Greek Parthenon, to peoples’ homes. I often find myself marveling over the design of large-scale building projects such as the skyscrapers of New York City. Most of these buildings belong to a myriad of well-known companies such as Chase and Toshiba. That is why I have particularly chosen to become a commercial architect.
When trying to design for automated construction systems, all parameters of a construction process must be integrated accurately and constantly to satisfy relevant parties, and finally, the quality of construction materials and products in terms of geometry, physical and design aspects will be changed. In order to reach automated construction goals, all the following aspects have to be fulfilled:
Burj khalifa is known to be the world’s tallest building in the world. The development and the construction of the Burj Khalifa project began in the year 2004 and the external part was completed in the year 2009. The building is generally made up of concrete because it is a strong and lasting material that can withstand all types of weather conditions. The building is established in city of Dubai and was opened in the year 2010 and renowned as Downtown Dubai. The project was purposely developed by the government so that they could expand their investment and diversify its efforts on oil producing economy. The government of Dubai decided to formulate this project so that it would make Dubai recognized by the world. The project developed
