Nikola Tesla (shown in Figure 1) was born on the 9th July 1856 in Smiljan, Austrian Empire, or known today as Croatia and deceased in New York (USA) on the 7th January 1943. Tesla’s Father, Milutin Tesla, was an orthodox priest, while his mother, Djuka Mandic, spent her free time inventing household items and inspired Nikola; Tesla was one of five siblings, Dane, Angelina, Mike and Marcia (Biography.com Editors 2017)

In 1875, at the age of 19, tesla studied Electrical Engineering at the Polytechnic Institute at Graz in Austria. Tesla’s most influential creations, set to change the world was produced in 1891 when tesla came up with what was known as the Tesla coil.
Although the Tesla coil has been replaced in many areas by more modern circuitry, the tesla coil at the time is what allowed for the first wireless telegraph communication systems to work (MagLab 2014)

“Everything is light” – (In5D 2014) in 1899 Nikola Tesla took part in an interview with John Smith, this interview came to be particularly famous, and showed Teslas way of thinking when he used the term “Everything is light” this became one of Teslas most famous interviews, the full interview can still be found and read from transcripts online today, In summary Nikola Tesla is one of histories most desired Electrical Engineers, his ideas and creations set many of the foundations on which Electrical Engineers all over the globe use today. Although not all his ideas are still in use today, a lot of the technology we have today, such as wireless communication systems, would not be possible without the innovative work of Nikola Tesla.
