Kobe Bryant was born in August 23, 1978, in Philadelphia, PA. Joe Bryant and Pam Bryant were the parents of Kobe. Kobe was named after a steak when his parents went to a restaurant. Kobe Bryant’s dad Joe (Jellybean) Bryant also played in the NBA. Joe Bryant inspired Kobe to play basketball. When Kobe was a little kid he always watched his dad on T.V. play. He would watch other superstars play like his favorite Magic Johnson. Kobe’s dad, Joe played eight seasons for the NBA for the Philadelphia 76ers, San Diego Clippers and Houston Rockets. After one season with Houston Joe and his family packed their bags and moved to Italy to continue Kobe’s career. Kobe was still very young when the family moved and Kobe and his sibblings had to learn a new language. Kobe and his two other sibblings practiced on how to speak Italian right after school.
