An Analysis Of A Hero's Journey

Just like every story a hero 's story has three basic sections the beginning, the middle, and the end but unlike other stories a hero 's tale has a set of acts which conain their own set of steps, if you may, that exist within theses sections that are crucial to not only the stories developement the hero 's as well. In the beginning you have act 1 "The Departure." this step, which contains the first five steps in the Hero 's journey, shows the Hero 's growth leading up to the strt of his journey. Next up is the most crucial part of the Hero 's growth, the middle. In the middle we have the next four steps in the Hero 's journey which will help him grow in to the Hero of legends. Then finally we have act three which contains the final three steps

this is an illustration of the first step. In the first step the Hero 's existence is explained before his present story begins, blind to the adventure that is soon to present itself. It 's also the moment where we learn crucial details about our Hero, his true nature, his capabilities, and his outlook on life. This anchors the Hero as a human, just like you and me, and makes it easier for us to identify with him and later, empathize with his predicament. Step two "The Call to Adventure" is where the Hero 's journey begins with an "ultimate disruption" to the comfort of the Hero 's Ordinary World such as a direct threat to his safety, his family, his way of life or to the peace of the area in which he lives. Now it doesn 't have to be as tragic as a gunshot, a simple phone call or conversation would satisfy this condition but whatever the call is, presents a challenge or quest that must be undertaken. In Step ten "The Road Back" represents a reverse of the "Call to Adventure" step in which the Hero had to cross the first threshold, but now he must return home with his reward. This time the expectation of danger is replaced with that of acclaim and perhaps vindication, absolution or even exoneration. Jason 's road back wasn 't the average one being that he was military and still in active duty he was sent back to there base in the field. Step eleven "The Resurrection" is the climax of the Hero 's journey where he is tested once more on another level and brought to the brink of death. By the Hero’s actions, the polarities that were in conflict at the beginning are finally resolved. For Jason this happened when his base camp was ambushed in the middle of the night by Iraqi insurgents. This incident was by far the toughest and hardest night he had to endure seeing some of his comrades die. Now we 've reached the final and last step in the whole process which is called "Return with the Elixir." This is the completion of the Hero 's initial journey where he chooses to either return home or start a new journey. After the raid on the base, Jason was sent home through a disability discharge, due to the trauma having a lasting effect on his ability to perform in the field.
