Supporting other women: It starts with positive words In today’s world, the fierce competitive nature of business (and life) doesn’t always have women supporting each other.
There aren’t as many women paying compliments to other women as you might think. In fact, most of the time women don’t compliment each other at all. This has a lot to do with the class in which both women are considered to be a part of, while Julia is considered “working class” with both parents being highly active in her life and living in a peaceful neighborhood and stable household, Tyra is considered being part of a lower class family and experiences life from a totally different angle. Tyra is not too keen about going to college or further her education; she lacks a positive role model and thinks that her attractive looks will get her where she needs to be in life. According to Sociology Professor Celine-Marie Pascale in the book making sense of race, class and gender (2007), “there is no generic woman, but rather a multiplicity of women each produces, minimally, through discourses of gender, nation, race, sexuality and class.”(p.77)". The show clearly points out that one’s class and environmental upbringing influences not only their personality and views of life but also their future and the path they choose to
Perhaps the most notable triumph of Oprah Winfrey is her job as host of her own television show, "The Oprah Winfrey Show". Because anyone is free to decide what they choose as a career, she had the opportunity to create this show. The viewings and acceptance of the consumers to her show allowed it's prosperity. Keep in mind that Oprah had no control of the success her show would receive, although she had free decision to do what she pleased with it, it was the decision of the consumers

1. When Columbus set out for the New World, he set out with the goal in mind that he would reach the famous Asia, in which Marco Polo inspired him to do, and make an enterprise in the Indies using spices of the area. On his travels to Asia, he veered off and never reached it. Instead, he reached the Bahamas and named it San Salvador which means "Holy Savior" in Spainish. Soon after that, he reached America in which he claimed land in the name of Spain. Columbus tried to make a colony of the land in which is claimed but failed, as was imprisoned for his poor leadership.
Winfrey’s early life was filled with arduous hurdles from the beginning, she was raised in a small podunk town in Mississippi that was anything but safe for a young girl, but on top of that she was raised by a single mother who was not around nearly enough. However the most formidable part of her upbringing was, she was sexually abused by ‘family friends’ and relatives on multiple occasions starting from the age of just nine. At twelve she was sent away to middle Tennessee to live with her father, there she realised her passion, she began giving speeches in front of her church and ultimately came to the conclusion that she wanted to speak for a living. Without her parents divorce Winfrey might have never figured out her passion of speaking to people until it was too late, this was a hidden advantage in the making of her success. However all too soon she had to leave the comfort of her father’s home where she could pursue her interest and journey back to her mother, where she was sadly yet again

In that same evening of going to the store for chocolate covered strawberry ingredience, I complimented three strangers. The three strangers I complimented were two women that were out shopping as well and the cashier I checked out with. The first woman I complimented her purse. She really appreciated my compliment and it put a smile on her face for the rest of the time I saw her in the store. The next woman I saw, I complimented the interesting mix of colors she used on her tie-dye shirt however her reaction was vague, becau...
Oprah’s rejection has brought about a new type of media communication, which has made her one of the foremost female talk show hosts. Her confidence is well illustrated in the music video “Who Runs the World (Girls)” by her fierce, focused expression while dancing in skimpy, feminine clothing. This idea of power coupled with femininity is noticeable throughout the music video by comparing images of Beyoncé and powerful animals such as lions and hyenas as well as by combining feminine clothing of garters and lingerie with powerful clothing of combat boots. These elements work together to illustrate Beyoncé’s acceptance of her own femininity but also show how she allows that to empower her, not weaken her. Her actions in the music video are complemented by her actions in real life such as posing in the GQ magazine in only her underwear. On the other hand, some such as Hadley Freeman feel that Beyoncé is too powerful to need to stoop to posing in such magazines; in Freeman’s words, “It’s another if you are professedly one of the most powerful women in the entertainment business who has no need of such tactics.” While it’s true that Beyoncé does not need such tactics, it does not necessarily follow that these tactics are in fact a bad thing and purely a publicity stunt. Rather, these tactics are her way of embracing her feminine identity in order to promote feminism in her own way. While perhaps not as professional

She wants to help as many children as possible grow up in a sound, safe, and educational environment. Oprah has changed the world with all of her organizations and charity efforts. Many of these children would never go to school or continue their college career without her amazing efforts of providing financial support to these children. Oprah also helped build homes for families through her efforts with Habitat for Humanity and her donations after Hurricane Katrina helped families start their lives over again after the mass destruction of the hurricane by providing the financial support to rebuild many communities and neighborhoods(“Oprah Winfrey”). When researching Oprah Winfrey, I now realize why she is such an incredible person. The world is a better place because of Oprah Winfrey. This is another example of a person that has worked very hard to achieve her goals in life. Oprah strived for her dreams of being able to give back to the community and world. It is also very obvious that her parents are, and have always been, unquestionably supportive of her. Which is probably why she's not a train wreck as a result of her whirlwind rise to fame.
