The American Revolution: one of the events that had turned America to what it is today. But what caused the Revolution to happen? The Revolution started in 1775 and ended in 1783. It took place in America’s original 13 colonies, the British colonies, a nd the East Coast of America. It was the British: soldiers, redcoats, and loyalists VS the american colonists: minutemen and patriots. While there were multiple reasons why the American Revolution began, the most important reasons were Taxation without representation, unconstitutional acts of the parliament, and colonial responses against Britain.
The most important reason that caused the American Revolution is taxation without representation. In a writing by John Adams, he wrote on how unfair

the colonists thought the Stamp Act was (Document 1) The document states, “no… man should be subject to any tax to which he has not given his own consent. Adams was outraged because the Stamp Act violated the English Constitution and their rights as Englishmen. That Act was the one that began the Sons of Liberty, who called for a colonial boycott of British goods. Also, in a letter that John Dickinson wrote, he explained how Britain was treating them (Document 4). The document states, “...can order us to pay what taxes she pleases before we take them away, or when we land them here, we are as abject as slaves…”. Dickinson thought that if the colonists continued paying the taxes, it would be like they are slaves. The colonists did not want to be like slaves and have Britan tell them what to do so they rebelled. The British taxing the colonists without having their approval was one of the main reasons that caused the American Revolutions. Another important reason that caused the American Revolution is unconstitutional acts of Parliament. In a law made by the British Parliament, it states how the colonists are bound to Britain (Document 3) The documents states, “make laws… to bind the colonies and people of America… in all cases whatsoever.” The law states how the colonists will be bound by Britain's king no matter what. The colonists did not enjoy the idea being ruled by a king that only used them to get more money, so they boycotted against the idea. Also, in a resolution created by the First Continental Congress, it states how the colonists did not accept the British placing the taxes. The document states “for stopping the port and blocking the harbor of Boston… keeping [British Troops] in several colonies in time of peace without the consent of legislature(s).” The colonists are showing how the British stopping British stopping the port and implying taxes are unfair. Because this made the colonists angry, they started to protest, which slowly started the American Revolution. Those are the reasons why the Parliament’s unfair acts were also a cause of the American Revolution. One other main reason that started the American Revolution is the Colonial responses against Britain.
In a document on the Boston Massacre, it describes all the events in the Massacre. The document shows, “a group of young men began pelting some British soldiers with snowballs and curses.”. This quote shows how it was the colonists that started the fight. It caused the American Revolution because after the colonists attacked the British, they defended themselves and killed 5 colonists. The British killing the colonists was what started the American Revolution, so if the colonists did not attack the British thoughtlessly, than the Boston Massacre would not of happened in the first place. Also, in an eyewitness account of the Boston Tea party, it shows everything that the colonists did in the Boston Tea Party (Document 7). The document says “we had thus broken and thrown overboard every tea chest to be found in the ship, while those in the other ships were disposing of the tea in the same way.” There were many other ways the colonists could of told the British they would not pay the taxes, but they did a direct attack. The British’s punishment was placed because they knew it was the colonists during the attack. If they were a little bit more sneaky, than they could of have the same effect without having to face punishment. So, since they were “caught” the colonies had to face punishment, which kind of led to the American Revolution. The colonist’s actions were also a part of
the American Revolution because without the colonists, the American Revolution wouldn’t of happened. Taxation without representation, unconstitutional acts of Parliament, and Colonial responses against Britain were the main reasons why the American Revolution started. If any of them were missing, then the Revolution would not of even started because they all played an important role, But, even though the Revolution led to many deaths and tragedies, without it, America might of not of been what it was today.
There were many reasons and events that led to the American Revolution, but it really all boils down to England being selfish. They wanted to make as much money as they possibly could off the new colonies, feeling a sense of entitlement, as they had provided funds and supplies to the settlers to make the trip in the first place. The British Parliament enacted laws and taxes that affected the economies and the lives of those in the new colonies, but for the benefit of England. The new Americans were not given the same rights under the Parliament as the British people, nor did they have a say in what the Parliamentary decisions. At one point the colonist had enough and began to protest and fight back, leading them down the American Road to Revolution. The Americans no longer wanted to be under Britain’s thumb, and looking for solutions, and knowledge to change that. This led them to a series of actions that began the American Revolution.
What started the whole revolution was America’s need for independence from Britain. The Americans wanted liberty and to be free from the British. They believed in being free more than probably any other country, and were willing to fight for it, too. Americans saw liberty as something everyone should be given. (By everyone, I mean white males.) Because of this, they fought in the Revolutionary War to win back their freedom...
The American revolution started when The King of Britain lost an immense amount of money. He bought high priced equipment and supplies for the army that basically costed an arm and a leg. Which led him to decide they would regain their money by taxing the colonist. His poor decisions of taxing the people without their agreement outraged them and sent them into a state of revolt.
There were many causes leading up to the Revolutionary War. Great Britain helped the American colonies during the French and Indian War. The French and Indian War resulted in a large debt the British needed to repay. In order to produce enough money to repay the debt, Great Britain placed The Sugar Act, The Stamp Act, and The Townshend Act on American colonists. “Parliament said it had
The American Revolution (1775-1783) was a war between England and the colonies which were settled earlier by the English. There were many factors and events that led to the American Revolution. The Revolution was mainly an economic rebellion that was fueled by taxation without representation following the French and Indian War. The English Parliament was more often than not considered cruel and unfair by the colonists. With conflicts over trade, taxes and government representation, the colonies were at a starting line of a revolution that would later transform into the basis of the United States of America.
The American Revolution, or otherwise known as the American War of Independence, was taken place between the years of 1775-1783. The war was fought between Great Britain and the 13 British North American colonies. The American Revolution caused a series of traumatic events. The American colonists were justified in waging war because the British seized the rights of the colonists, the American colonists did not have a say in Parliament, the Boston Massacre, and incoherent decisions involving taxes by the British King.
During the late 18th century the first conflict in history involving the colonists was formed. The British began to force colonists to follow laws that violated their natural rights which involved: Rights to life, to liberty, and to property. The American Revolution created mobs in response to the taxes that were imposed by the British Government, due to their financial crisis in which British suffered from the French and Indian War. Although the main cause of this revolution cannot be blamed on any one event, there was a series of events that ultimately lead to the American Revolution. There were many causes that angered the colonists in which caused him to rebel against the British. Although some colonists rebelled because they believed that the king of England was a tyrant, others chose to be loyal to the king and appreciate his rules amongst the colonists.
The American Revolution began due to problems within the British economy. The most prevalent issue of the time was "taxation without
The American Revolution began for many reasons, some are; long-term social, economic, and political changes in the British colonies, prior to 1750 provided the basis for and started a course to America becoming an independent nation under it's own control with its own government. Not a tyrant king thousands of miles away. A huge factor in the start of the revolution was the French and Indian War during the years of 1754 through 1763; this changed the age-old bond between the colonies and Britain, its mother. To top it off, a decade of conflicts between the British rule and the colonists, starting with the Stamp Act in 1765 that eventually led to the eruption of war in 1775, along with the drafting of The Declaration of Independence in 1776.
The American Revolution is also know as the United States War of Independence. The American Revolutionary War was fought from 1775 to 1783. It was fought between Great Britain and the thirteen colonies. Tensions had been building between the colonists and the British authorities long before the war began. The war was caused by the taxes, strict rules and regulations set by the British. The British made attempts to raise the taxes for the colonists and this did not please the colonists. So,
The American revolution all began because the colonies did not want to be under British Parliament. The colonies had no representative in Parliament, so the colonists felt the British had no say so in the colonies. This started with the British imposing taxes on imports and exports from the colonies. The British started the...
Many people have the misconception that the American Revolution occurred because British colonists did not want to be British citizens any longer. This may have been the case for a select few, but many British colonists desired to maintain their status as British colonists and citizens. The foremost reason that the colonists began protests, boycotts, and petitions against the British was because they believed their innate rights as British citizens were being violated. The American Revolution occurred due to a chain of events and a complex set of intertwined reasons.
There were many diverse factors that precipitated the American Revolution. After the Enlightenment, there were colonists that believed they needed a new form of government. This new form of government would not have the power to have complete authority over their citizens, like what the British had over them. These colonists did not believe in being loyal to Britain, and supported the American Revolution. Most colonists however did not support the idea of branching away from the mother country of Great Britain, and went against the idea of the United States becoming its own country.
The costly French and Indian War created a divide between British Parliament and the colonists that was temporarily appeased when William Pitt returned recruitment control to the colonists and reimbursed farmers and tradesmen for their goods and services that had been forcefully taken. However, this peace was short lived when British Parliament tried to acquire complete control of the colonies and regain financial stability by passing the Stamp Act of 1765, the Townshend Duties, the Tea Act of 1773, and the Intolerable Acts of 1774. The acts greatly inconvenienced the colonists and led to the Boston Massacre of 1770, the Boston “tea party,” colonial unity, and the first shot at Lexington that sparked the American Revolution.
Once everyone was against England, the people were ready for war. The American Revolution started for many reasons, some of the few being social, economic, and political changes. These changes provided America with an independent country with its own government. The increase in strict laws and violent events made many Americans angry, and that’s why the revolution began. The French and Indian war, taxes without representation, as well as the first continental congress.
