My junior year, I was elected as the Key Club’s President, ASB Leadership’s Secretary, and the California Scholarship Foundation’s Secretary. My freshman and junior year, I received the Academic E award for maintaining my academic excellence and being an athlete. I also have received the Top Notch award, which recognizes students for being a role model and a positive influence to students, staff, and community members. During my Junior year, I was the Key Club President, Associated Student Body Secretary, and California Scholarship Foundation Secretary. In 2015, I planned and coordinated events at The First Baptist Church of Elverta. The annual Vacation Bible School, engages children in the community and teaching them about the word of God. Within my church, I also have participated in serving others with Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, involved with Christmas caroling, and create pillowcases for the receiving home. Overall, I am very active in my community as a student, athlete, and a child of
It is a tremendous honor to be considered for membership in the most prestigious Honor Society available at Wapato High School. It is even more grand to be able to work towards enrollment in the Society side by side with such an astoundingly gifted group of young men and women. I am only being considered for potential membership in the National Honors Society because I have demonstrated an exemplary academic attitude, and have proven this through the grades I have attained during the years I have spent in the Wapato School District and the fondness amongst my teachers I have achieved. There are also other characteristics besides good scholarship I must fill for membership in the Society, those being services I have done to benefit others in the community, leadership positions I have held, and an original and interesting demonstration of
As a student that is currently seeking a career in the medical professions, I have had to routinely contemplate my reasons for pursuing such an extensive education program in a field that is constantly demanding excessive time and effort. I know of students—many friends and acquaintances of mine included—that have the most sure-fire, inspirational stories that align with their desire to become doctors, surgeons, physician assistants, etc. They always seemed to have a story that emphasized their desire to “give back” what they have received from the medical community. Because of that, ever since the beginning of high school, I have been trying to find an extraordinary reason, a purpose for my medical pursuits. Perhaps I could justify my passion for
1. The façade of the Palace of the Legion of Honor is a great example of classical revival architecture. Architects from the Renaissance to the present have borrowed architectural elements from ancient Greece and Rome for church façades, banks, museums, and government buildings.
"The soldier is the Army. No army is better than its soldiers. The Soldier is also a citizen. In fact, the highest obligation and privilege of citizenship is that of bearing arms for one’s country” (-General George S. Patton Jr). Here within our borders we are the lucky ones, we have been blessed with the pleasure of so many brave men and women; to volunteer in the world's greatest military; and put their lives on the line for something that they believe is a moral obligation. But, think of some other countries, that have conscription (the practice of ordering people by law to serve in the armed forces) laws. We as a nation have some laws on conscription, and if you are male and above the age of 18 you have already signed the slip of paper stating that in the time of war; if our great nation re-instated the draft then there is a great chance you will be serving on the frontline of the next Great War. This brings me to my first topic of this page, is it ethical to have a draft? My second topic that I will discuss will be on if it is morally acceptable to "draft dodge". What I mean on the second topic is if you have a right; that morally allows you to not go fight in the war.
Originating on the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month, 1918, the cessation of fighting at the end of World War I would come to be known as Veterans Day. This hallowed day, was thought to be the end to wars, and was reflected upon by President Woodrow Wilson in 1919 as representative of the solemn pride to honor those who died in service of their country. The role of a human resource sergeant in the Army profession is well-defined by the non-commissioned officer (NCO) creed “we are professionals, non-commissioned officers, leaders” (SFC Earle, Brigham, 1973). We build a camaraderie in our profession that is unlike any other. Not all can say that they are experts, it requires years of training in that field to become a professional. In our profession, we must earn the trust of many, such as subordinates, colleagues, clients, and the nation. We are merely servants, here to serve the Soldier and their Family. Soldier’s take pride in the service that they provide.
The military has always been there and we as Americans never question it. Thousands of men and women have dedicated their lives to serving this country. From World War II on to present day our military is constantly growing and evolving. Many people believe our military is nothing but destructive and harmful. To me, the military and people who serve the military are very brave and caring individuals. Our armed forces help change the way that not only America views things, but also the world. We were one of the first armies to accept women and homosexuals into the service. Do not get me wrong, every accomplishment and growth we have made was not obtained with open arms. Before WWII America was just the same as every other
The United States of America has a long history of trying to provide support and benefits for the men (and recently women) who have fought for the country dating back to the Colonial War time in 1636. The Pilgrims passed a law saying the colony would care for the disabled soldiers who fought against Native Americans (U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs, 2015b). During this time, it was customary for veterans to receive pensions for their service during war-time. This effort was made to prevent desertions and to encourage more men to enlist. Another effort the U.S. government made was to offer public land free to men who fought in the war due to only 3,000 men drawing on the pensions offered during the Revolutionary
One of the most magnificent structures on Iowa State University’s beautiful campus. Memorial Union. To most, it is the heart of Iowa State. From food and apparel, to books and events, Memorial Union has it all. This all couldn’t be possible without the perfect design of the building. Memorial Union has changed a lot over the years, but it has always kept the main eye-catching composition. It was designed in 1922, by a man named William T. Proudfoot, to honor alumni who served in World War I. (Architecture). Memorial Union is one of the most magnificent structures on Iowa State’s campus because of its unique history, bold design, and great values. The 316,713-square foot building makes it the third largest building on campus

In ADRP 1: The Army Profession the most important chapter with respect to duty positions and responsibilities of a Captain is “The Army Ethic”. There are multiple chapters throughout ADRP 1 that could possibly be deemed as the most important, but the foundation of the Army Profession as a whole is its ethic. Trust is instilled from our civilian counterparts and our own professionals understanding that we follow a common ethic. Expert knowledge in our profession is derived from exercising the values in our ethic. Stewardship is inferred from our ethic as well, since it is a part of our traditions, customs, and principles. The most important chapter in ADRP 1: The Army Profession is The Army Ethic

Besides academics, fine arts and sports in school, I have attained leading roles in different groups. After reading the supporting article, Revisiting Military Conscription (aka National Service) in Singapore by Bernard F W Loo), I understand that our National Service (NS) is an essential military force that helps us to maintain a well-balance relationship with Malaysia. In order to ensure that Singapore receive sufficient supply of water from Malaysia, Singapore have to put up a threat by showing a strong military force which of course have to begin with enforcing a compulsory NS. In the year 2011, Singapore had recruited a number of 21,000 soldiers while Malaysia’s soldiers have significantly noted to be weakened through the years, this is pointed out by a Lieutenant-General Muhammad Effendi Mustaffa saying that “Gone are the days when they (‘they’ referring to the soldiers) used to be tough when they signed up to serve the country,” (Muhammad E M, 16 October 2007). Therefore, I believed that the growth of our Singapore Armed Force (SAF) will definitely give Malaysia a second thought whenever they intend to violate the water agreement. This has proven the importance of our military force and shows us the needs of maintaining the good progress in our SAF.
