“American History: Our Hope for the Future” It was a warm, sunny day when I decided to go visit my grandma and grandpa. We were sitting on the porch watching the cars drive by and the crops sway back and forth in the summer breeze. One thing lead to another and we began to talk about the future and what we pictured to be the perfect future. I, being a young adult, shared upon my dreams about achieving great things in my career and raising a family: a goal that is common among all people. Because of the amendment made under President Lincoln, African Americans had now saw the light at the end of the tunnel. Slaves that had spent their life being taken advantage of for their efforts had now saw what looked to be the end of this abuse and the beginning of opportunity for themselves and future generations. During the 1930’s, America had went through one of the worst economic time periods, known as the Great Depression. Throughout this tragic era, jobs were lost, people were hungry, and people were desperate for hope. The struggle put upon Americans made us stronger. We had survived the worst economic conditions and had stayed together as a country. The Great Depression became a part of history that symbolizes hope because of the unification of the country. People, now more than ever, had the confidence in America to make it through anything. On January 31, 1958, America had its first successful space adventure: Jupiter C had launched the first scientific satellite, Explorer 1, into space. The United States first successful space exploration project was a sign of hope for future space exploration. The success had brought a certain amount of confidence and excitement for the future of science and the universe. It opened the door for many more explorations and
