United States (History), story of how the republic developed from colonial beginnings in the 16th century, when the first European explorers arrived, until modern times. As the nation developed, it expanded westward from small settlements along the Atlantic Coast, eventually including all the territory between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans across the middle of the North American continent, as well as two noncontiguous states and a number of territories. At the same time, the population and the economy of the United States grew and changed dramatically. The population diversified as immigrants arrived from all countries of the world. From its beginnings as a remote English colony, the United States has developed the largest economy in the world. Throughout its history, the United States has faced struggles, both within the country—between various ethnic, religious, political, and economic groups—and with other nations. The efforts to deal with and resolve these struggles have shaped the United States of America into the 21st century. This is one of seven major articles that together provide a comprehensive discussion of the United States of America. For more information on the United States, please see the other six major articles: United States (Overview), United States (Geography), United States (People), United States (Culture), United States (Economy), and United States (Government). II Early Cultural Interaction Print Preview of Section Early American history began in the collision of European, West African, and Native American peoples in North America. Europeans “discovered” America by accident, then created empires out of the conquest of indigenous peoples and the enslavement of Africans. Yet conquest and enslavement were accompanied by centuries of cultural interaction—interaction that spelled disaster for Africans and Native Americans and triumph for Europeans, to be sure, but interaction that transformed all three peoples in the process. A Native America in 1580 The lands and human societies that European explorers called a New World were in fact very old. During the Ice Ages much of the world’s water was bound up in glaciers. Sea level dropped by hundreds of feet, creating a land bridge between Alaska and Siberia. Asians walked across to become the first human inhabitants of the Americas.
This book is complete with some facts, unfounded assumptions, explores Native American gifts to the World and gives that information credence which really happened yet was covered up and even lied about by Euro-centric historians who have never given the Indians credit for any great cultural achievement. From silver and money capitalism to piracy, slavery and the birth of corporations, the food revolution, agricultural technology, the culinary revolution, drugs, architecture and urban planning our debt to the indigenous peoples of America is tremendous. With indigenous populations mining the gold and silver made capitalism possible. Working in the mines and mints and in the plantations with the African slaves, they started the industrial revolution that then spread to Europe and on around the world. They supplied the cotton, rubber, dyes, and related chemicals that fed this new system of production. They domesticated and developed the hundreds of varieties of corn, potatoes, cassava, and peanuts that now feed much of the world. They discovered the curative powers of quinine, the anesthetizing ability of coca, and the potency of a thousand other drugs with made possible modern medicine and pharmacology. The drugs together with their improved agriculture made possible the population explosion of the last several centuries. They developed and refined a form of democracy that has been haphazardly and inadequately adopted in many parts of the world. They were the true colonizers of America who cut the trails through the jungles and deserts, made the roads, and built the cities upon which modern America is based.
America has grown to be the country it is today not by luck, but by the fact that it has struggled in trying to become an independent nation. Regardless of the hardships, turmoil, and chaos it has gone through, the events that occurred between the years 1865-1900 have caused America to be the independent nation that it is today.
Historical developments are connected across time and culture by recurring historical themes. Reoccurring themes are interactions between human and the environment, development of culture, expansion of hierarchy, and creation of economical and social structures. In Guns, Germs, and Steel, by Jared Diamond he researches why and how people in different regions were more fortunate than people in other regions of the world. Diamond credits the inequalities of the people to the differences in the environment not biological reasons. Most of the advantages the Europeans had were a direct result of geography. Although the growth and development of human society have greatly shaped and advanced civilization, ecological and geographic factors are where
...nd, advocated for a representative democracy. This is reasonable as well, because the cooperative, social nature he attributed to human beings made it unnecessary to instill fear, and more effective to simply work together. It was necessary for Locke to find a way to organize this cooperation, which he did by entrusting executive power to a governing assembly. Since the aim of Locke’s government was to protect the property of its constituents, the best way to do this was to ensure that justice was brought through an indifferent, selfless and consistent system. Hobbes’ sovereign’s goal was to provide peace and security to its subjects, and Locke’s government was intended to do the same. Therefore, although it seems as though Hobbes’ and Locke’s arguments may be completely irreconcilable, the differences can all be attributed to the ways they interpreted human nature.
Example: “Compare and contrast the two endings for Dickens’ Great Expectations paying special attention to the situation of Stella at the close of the novel.”
Stories do more than just tell us a nice tale. They present at many a times, struggles and real life situations. They can take the reader back in time and reveal the hardships of more self-reliant times. In Jack London’s “To Build a Fire”, the man suffers physical, psychological, and emotional problems throughout the story. Even though this character is given no name, a reader can almost feel every hardship he goes through in the whole story.
A recent Jackson Healthcare report on physician trends found that 85% of providers have adopted electronic health records (EHR) systems. Also worth noting is that 61% of physicians reported their EHR’s overhead costs have increased due to ACA requirements. At the same time, provider satisfaction with their EHR systems has been declining. With the average physician seeing 22 patients per day, an EHR can make or break a practice's efficiency.
Day in and day out he practiced and practiced. He practiced his jump shot, his passing his dribbling and his rebound shots. Again, he approached the older boys with confidence. On one cold, blustery day, in early July, he arrived at the court early. Not many older kids were around. He asked again if he could play. He was in total shock, they had said yes this time. He played like he had never played before. He jumped, he passed, he dribbled and the older boys just laughed and said he would never be more than a score-keeping geek. He went home dejected once again, but at least this time he had
The access to information can be very beneficial in an EHR system. With all the patient medical files being integrated within the EHR, the physician will find it convenient when seeing numerous patients. They will access to these files whenever and wherever they are needed to make effective decisions for the patient. Better access to information also allows better communication amongst the providers.
It was the gift of a natural born leader, people were drawn to him. Though, if you asked a slave why they followed him they probably would have giving you a similar answer to this “he made the men love him... They didn 't know why it had happened or precisely how-it had happened… yet when he decided, they did as he said.” (Faust, 109). With Varinia by his side Spartacus decided it was time that he was no longer a slave. He broke free from the Lanista’s grips and left Rome, pillaging latifundias and freeing slaves along the

European immigrants are credited for “civilizing” the United States, but prior to their arrival America had long been inhabited by tribes of indigenous people. In the fifteenth century, when Christopher Columbus landed in what he presumed was the Indies, he began calling these inhabitants “Indians,” a label that would last centuries until the modern term “Native Americans” came into
“Can I play basketball?” I asked uncertainly. The next week my dad signed me up for recreational basketball at the huntley park district. Even though everyone was put onto a team, there was still a tryout. What happened there was the most embarrassing moment of my life; I missed every single shot I took, except for one lay up, and I did so poorly on the ball handling drills that the coach said, “Hey Jim, how many points does he lose if he didn’t go through the cones at all.”
Within London’s stories, he presents a dark tone but life lessons throughout his pieces of work. One of London’s works that mirrors dark tones, and life lessons is “To Build a Fire”. This story is about a man who is traveling in extreme, miserable cold weather conditions with his dog. Though this man was advised by an older man not to travel in these harsh conditions, he does it anyway. In this story, the man’s destination is a faraway camp with people whom in which he is supposed to meet with. At the beginning of the story, he starts out with such optimism and courage that he is going to make it to his destination with no problem. As the story goes along, his health and optimism starts to deteriorate. I loved how London, throughout the story included the turmoil that this man was starting to comprehend. For example, a sign of trouble that the man was experiencing was when the “circulation of wet and freezing feet cannot be restored by running when it is seventy-five below. No matter how fast he runs, the wet feet will freeze the harder.” (pg. 1052). At this point in the story, the stubborn man is now remembering the older man from Sulphur Creek who had warned him, and tried to give him advice. London has managed to present the downfall of the man’s well-being. As the man gets worse and his dog is no longer wanting to be in his company, the more the old man’s advice is brought up. Further in the story the man’s optimism is beginning to disperse, and he decides at one point after trying so hard will not make it to the camp. He later dies under a tree, and the dog later goes away from him, and heads to the camp alone. This story is a representation of regret and troubled events that this man endures because of his stubbornness. London was able to present a story with hope, optimism, doubt, regret, life lessons, and the reality. As a result, this is why I love this work by Jack London,
This improve the patient care by reducing the incidence of medical error by improving the accuracy and clarity of medical record and making the health information available and reducing the delays in treatment and patients are well informed to take better decisions. As more organizations adopt electronic health records, physicians will have greater access to patient information allowing faster and more accurate diagnoses. Patients also have the access to share their information with family members securely over the internet so when they become incapacity to make their own decision the POA given to the right member of the family to make decision for them. This is basically run by CMS and by the Medicaid agency. These records are shared through network – connected enterprise-wide information systems or other information networks and exchanges. EHR requires an initial investment of time and money; clinicians because they have to device the report of saving money in the long period. There are a lot of criteria involved in this when participating because they would have to take edibility assessment test. This has helped to secured many of the patient’s data record and many paper forms have been turned into EHR in the past few years after the 2000
