Humor throughout the world has a large effect on how culture is classified. Rebecca Krefting cites “communication studies scholar and humor expert Judith Yaross Lee [as saying], “American humor reveals the state of the nation” (26). A very famous actor, Kevin Hart, has been in many stand-up comedy skits and movies throughout his life. For example, Hart has been in Central Intelligence, Get Hard, and stand-up acts, “White man laugh”, “Swearing at my teacher” and many more. All his comedic appearances include silly, wacky, and ridiculous humor. Harts comedy appearances have affected people’s interest in relationships, and the use of language. The use of language today different than years ago by the types of words and slangs that the culture set as trends. People typically catch on to what the people is saying, then society becomes adaptive towards it. As for Kevin Hart, he has translated the language of today’s culture since he started becoming a comedian in 2006 to a more free-spoken language where a person can say what they want and when they want. The quote by Judith Yaross Lee, “American humor reveals the state of the nation” is an example of the language transpired by Hart because the humor today is more advanced. An advancing in humors means the type of words, and ways people communicate is more complex. Smarter words, and long sentences. However; the use if inappropriate language also relates to the state of the nation. For year 2017, inappropriate language is found everywhere in the entire world. Some example are words like fuck, bitch, asshole, retard, and n****er. These words are used in an everyday lifestyle to this day and age. The more people that hear these words, the more comfortable they become by saying it as well. Kevin Hart has a much larger platform then others, especially because of the fact he is seen on TV. People tend to continuously follow the same style of language he uses due to his popularity. For example, in Harts skit, “First Time Cursing” he displays a variety of curse words. This video has 9,406,366 views, which means all the people watching this video are adapting to the inappropriate language that is being displayed and spreading it through the culture.
