How is it possible that a single person's actions could change how the world is shaped today? General Henry Knox was one unknown hero of the Revolutionary War who came as an individual and influenced an entire group of people. Henry Knox was the first Secretary of War under the command of President George Washington, one of the few known American Revolutionary War heroes. According to Jack Kelly, author of “Band of Giants: The Amateur Soldiers Who Won America’s Independence,” “Knox was really responsible for the patriots’ first victory when they forced the British out of Boston.” He even served as the first trusted secretary of war and advisor to President Washington for the new United States.
When we were first introduced to Chamberlain he gave a remarkably motivating speech to over one hundred starved and angry soldiers. With his passionate and honest plea he was able to break through their barriers of hate and betrayal and inspire them to fight for a belief even they could relate to. This act alone convinced me that this man was a talented leader and would have an impressive impact on The Battle of Gettysburg.
Washington's dedication to the cause of the American Revolution inspired and impressed everyone. He was a great general, and astute politician, and a symbol of the cause for independence. He was a master in the art of war. Bibliography:.. Bibliography Handel, Michael I. Masters of War.
.... Others might be influenced by the way he showed he cared about the future leaders of America and built them a school so they could strive for excellence. Most people are influenced by the several inventions Thomas Jefferson had every day. These are the reasons why Thomas Jefferson is the most influential person of the 1800’s. Without him, our country would be in an everyday struggle with supplying food to the world. Thanks to him, food is much easier to produce and distribute, and everyday struggles have become easier.
How well known people are effects how influential you are, and while these 2 characters from history are not as influential as LeBron James and trending pop stars are in their time, they’ve used their influential abilities in positive ways that affect everyone today. Susan B. Anthony and Martin Luther King Jr. are both amazing leaders of the suffrage and civil rights movements. Anthony with Women’s rights, and King with African American’s rights took Civil Rights as a whole a few great leaps forward; brought forth an era where the Civil Rights Movement is something almost everyone believes in, that equal rights should be something everyone has. In these great leaps forward, King and Anthony have used their influential abilities to help start, carry on, and pass on a legacy. This is a legacy that is the idea or thought that everyone is equal.
Davis served at frontier military posts and in the Black Hawk War before resigning in... ... middle of paper ... ... In that harsh period of time. being in favor of the black equality race was dangerous yet courageous.
Louis Armstrong, “known to be the greatest influence in 1920’s and the first vital jazz soloist to attain worldwide influence as a trumpeter,” led a musical revolution. He was a strong force in spreading the influence of jazz throughout his life. He was highly respected and looked up to in his time. Louis was an idol for many African- Americans because he gave them the hope that they can be prominent people in their society and that segregation did not have to exist in music.
An influential person has a great impact on someone or something through their actions and legacy. Charlemagne was a Frankish king who encouraged arts, culture, and education, and greatly influenced the development of the Western culture. If he had not lived the Frankish people would not be as sophisticated as they are today (Charlemagne).
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for millions of Americans is an iconic portrayal when discussing civil rights and American democracy. His determination to change segregation through creative and savvy ways to reach the public led to his stardom. However, there were many others who helped during the civil rights era who do not get nearly as much praise as MLK Jr. Medgar Evers, James Meredith, A Philip Randolph, Jesse Jackson are a few gentlemen that rarely received the magnitude of media focus, popularity or scrutiny that the most charismatic civil rights leaders attracted. Instead they played different positions either, making telephone calls, visiting numerous homes, organizing community meetings and rallies. They tried building a large amount of support for their cause at the lower level.
Throughout history there have been many great leaders. Many leaders who have changed the shape of America and also soldiers of today’s Army. One leader that comes to mind and has shaped me into the leader I am today is Abraham Lincoln. When I look at Abraham Lincoln and what he has done, I think of what Army Leadership manual ADRP 6-22 defines what a leader should be and how leadership is based off of attributes and competencies.
The junction in Virginia had to be coordinated by two different national commands separated across an ocean without benefit of telephone, telegraph or wireless. That this was carried out without a fault seems accountable only by a series of miracles." A “miracle” is defined as “a surprising and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws and is therefore considered to be the work of a divine agency,” but the story of Yorktown is not really a miracle, it really is in large part the story of four generals; Washington and Rochambeau on the allies side and Clinton and Cornwallis on the British side. The generals’ traits and how they worked together helped shape the battle. Washington and Rochambeau were opposites in many ways. Washington was self-taught in military tactics but his sheer determination had carried the American army through six years without a decisive victory. Rochambeau was a battle-scarred veteran of many European conflicts, in other words a professional soldier. One of the keys to the two generals’ success at Yorktown is likely this combination of traits and the fact that they worked well together. On the other hand, Clinton and Cornwallis actually disliked and distrusted each other. Cornwallis was arrogant and ambitious. He had weakened his own army by trying to take South and North Carolina but was outsmarted by the local commanders there, losing many men and supplies. His arrogance caused him to retreat to Yorktown where he waited for rescue by Clinton. Clinton too mismanaged the campaign. He was cowardly and believed that he had to remain in New York rather than attempt to rescue
Throughout history, there have been great leaders, some for the good of humanity, and some for the not-so good of humanity. The one element all leaders have in common is in some way, have changed the course of history. The one great leader I have found to be interesting and envision of a great leader is William Bradford, an original passenger on the Mayflower, and the first ever governor elected on what is to become, American Soil.
Martin Luther King changed the world by using his leadership qualities. King had leadership qualities that lead him to his success in fighting for black rights. His leadership qualities were bravery, not giving up, and was a phenomenal speaker. Even though Martin Luther King is not with our nation today we still commemorate him by celebrating once every year on January 15 Martin Luther King day. Martin Luther King will always be remembered for his courage and passion for African Americans, he proved anyone can make a difference.
...ompared to Martin Luther King Jr. for being a great leader. From his amazing persuasion, he changed people’s thoughts and opened their minds. His legacy remains still today, influencing many young and old hearts in all orientations.
There are people who look up to someone for what they accomplished or attempted to accomplish in life. Everyone has to know of a person who they admire for their dedication to something. An inspiring person is someone who does something that a person likes to know they did and would like to know more about that one person. They would want to follow their similar steps to achieve some of their own goals. My inspiration is Martin Luther King that accomplished to do a lot of his community. He was a person that spent his years fighting for equal rights of his people. He had an ability to speak up for what right and did not give up easily. No one else had so much voice like King to convince a number of people to march alongside him even though they were at risk for getting seriously injured (Wilmonth p.336.).Although most readers of law had argued that it is unfair for discrimination to continue and there should be something done about it, examination shows that Martin Luther King Jr. uses his eloquent words and his power of persuasion to prove to people no longer have to deal with the injustice in this environment. Martin Luther King Jr. is a result of the combination of bravery, motivator, and selflessness.
