Alternative Energy Sources Essay

There are many types of Alternative Energy Sources. The different energy sources are hydro and solar power, wind, biomass and geothermal energy. Throughout the world people don’t recognize that we use every these energy sources day for our own personal use. The energy sources are not only free but they are also renewable. It is a little more costly to use these energy sources, but going green is what’s best for our environment. Using these alternative sources will create fresher air, eliminate over half of the pollution caused by fossil fuels, and protect our earth a lot longer. I’m going to explain these five expensive, but very worth it energy sources.

Water is one of the renewable energy sources because there is an unlimited supply of it on Earth. Several dams have been created because of hydro power. The building of these dams not only help our environment but hurt them as well. Yes we receive energy from these dams, and yes many jobs were created which helps our economy. But a great amount of land has been destroyed, taken away from animals, and taken away from us. We could use that land to grow different crops, but constantly drilling into the earth to create dams is not good for our environment. Tidal power is a type of hydro power energy. Tidal energy is created based off the waves in the ocean. Similar to dams, tidal construction is not good for our land. It is closer to the ocean, than most would like. The production of heat is through geothermal energy. We use this power for our everyday task such as preparing our meals, showering, and warming our homes. Just like the construction of dams, the production of geothermal power created several jobs for the local people. It’s very expensive to hire workers, pay for land, and pay for all the equipment to make it successful. But once again it is much safer than fossil fuels, which will run short in the near future. They are trying to stretch the fossil fuel resources but it won’t last very long compared to the fact that you can use alternative energy sources for the rest of your life.
